Thread: DOES GAMECUBE HAVE BETTER GRAPHICS THAN XBOX!!!

  1. DOES GC HAVE BETTER GRAPHICS THAN XBOX... PLZ IF THERES ANY SMART PPL OUT THERE THAN PLZ EXPLAIN IT TO ME IN DETAILS... THANK U!!!

  2. Well I will try to explain it the simpless posible:

    lets look at the processors first:

    GC:485MHz (Power PC chip)copper wire technology

    Xbox:733MHz pentium chip (Aluminium)

    The point:1:GC is more powerful than Xbox because a 485MHz Power PC chip is more powerful than an 800MHz pentium chip.
    2:Since Xbox's chip is made of aluminium it can easily overheat within 19 hours but GC's chip can stay on for at least 7 days on.


    The graphic processors:

    Flipper:this chip will be the most advanced chip during it's release and what makes it so special is that this chip has a very powerful texture compressor which makes the games look real.you see Nintendo decided to use textures instead of using polygons,well GC has polygon support but they don't use it as the main engine.like they use the polygons to creat figures but not perfect figures and the textures making it more real like cutting edges of the figure and make it more round and smooth.

    Nvidia:The graphic card that has only polygon engine and no textures but however the polygon count is high.

    Winner:Flipper wins because it has textures and polygon count while ps2 and xbox have only polygon count.The graphic processors are the harts of the hardwares.

    that is all you need to know why GC is better than xbox and ps2.

  7. That was the worst tech explanation I've ever heard. Xbox will have an edge on GC but they will both look stunning. Worry about the games. Oh wait, we're Nintendo fans we have nothing to worry about.

I know it because I'm a worker with that kind of stuff and also a game tester so if anyone thinks that this isn't clear enough then it means that he is a dumbass.So this mario's dad doesn't know anything about what he is even saying,1:he is not a game developer or software enginer which currently I'm studying to become,plus he is the only one who is who thinks that it is not clear but I won't argue about it.And with calm that is how I became the most respected person at Gameshark.com

    And don't worry I also made tests to see if it's true,I have the Gamecube dev. kit and I compared it with my friend's(who is a software enginer) computer which had pretty much same specs as Xbox.But it is really easy to compare if you have the tools,or visit Intel's web site to see of what is their chip made of and all that,the only thing you have to do is to compare everything possible before saying:Oh! Xbox has 733Mhz and Gamecube has only 485,I will buy Xbox.

    No textures? WTF are you talking about? It has pixel shaders which create amazing textures. Texture compression is to compress textures. It does not make them look amazing. It's up to the developer to do that. Xbox also has 6:1 texture compression by the way. Your whole explanation of GC's polygon and texture usage makes you sound like a 3rd grader.

    You can't compare a computer to an Xbox. The video and sound cards that Xbox uses have not been released on the PC and nothing currently out comes close to their power. And how exactaly did you "compare" them anyway?

Mario's dad:I'm not talking about the texture compressor that you think about,In fact it's named texture compressor but it's not a texure compressor,it's called a texture creator which create's textures.And Xbox's pixel shaders are completly different from what GC use and that is why I did not mentioned it.Well if you think I did all the explanation like a 3rd grader,well I made it simple because not everyone understands the hard way,oh and mario lets see if you can do better.

    Yes I compared GC and a Computer similar to Xbox in speed (power) and NOT graphics or sound and also I destroyed my friend's computer by letting it on for 7 days and it overheated in 1 day 08 hours 27 min. 56 sec.
    GC,I letted it on for 4-5 days and after that I turned it off.

    Please don't be my enemy but instead be my friend.

    1. They have the same specs
    2. Same types of games
    3. Made by Microsoft
    4. Both CRASH!!!!(memories of E3 flood in)

  13. Ok, I really don't like fighting. The whole 3rd grade thing was because you worded it funny. You had to make it simple for the ones that aren't techies though. I'm not but have picked up some stuff just listening to people.

    As far as comparing it to a PC, it's good to hear GC was faster but you have to remember Xbox doesn't have a large os to hold up. Plus the many bottlenecks that Xbox doesn't have that a pc does.

  17. Yes I know that the real system will not be the same as the dev. kit but there will not be SO much changements.

    I said that GC uses txtures as it's main engine and Poly. as second engine so don't blame me,ok?

    Some peoples are saying that Games Matters the most,well praticly it's true but you need a a console powerful enough to create great images,textures,etc.

    See, the thing is, the Xbox's CPU is used only for Artificial Intellegence and Physcis, while the Gamecube's CPU has to help the GPU out with the geometry and whatnot. The Xbox's CPU is better for what it has to do.

    Excuse my French, but, bullshit. The Geforce3, right now, is the most advanced graphics processing unit out right now. The Flipper and G3 both have 6:1 texture compression, neither GPU has an advantage here. The GF3 has fully programmable pixel/vertex shaders which gives it much more flexibility and power than the Flipper... And the GF3 can push more polygons(Conservative for the Flipper is 6-12, right? The GF3's is around 30-40). Now, the NV2A in the Xbox is an enhanced GF3, with an extra T&L unit, giving it almost double the poly pushing power, and an extra pixel/vertex shader, giving it even more power and flexibility than the GF3. Plus, theres no AGP bus slowing it down like it would on a PC.

    The PS2 doesn't have a real Graphics processor. The heart of the PS2 is its CPU, the Emotion Engine. Problem with it is it does all the work for the PS2, T&L and all.

    that is all you need to know why GC is better than xbox and ps2.

    ... And I dont want to hear anything remotely similar to "Graphics dont matter gameplay is what counts". This is a technical debate, so wer're talking about hardware, not software. Save that for another thread.

    anyway...simpler(i hope):

    -GCN uses newer technology(copper wire) while xbox uses proven yet old technology

    -485(GCN) vs. 733(xbox)...clock speed is for idiots nowadays.
    for example, in pc's: 1.3 athlon=1.7p4...(or was it 1.5)
    so they run about the same speed

    -GCN uses new memory that's the fastest thing there is.

    in the end, xbox mite hav plain 'ole power...but wit GCN using a combo of kewl stuff (the MPU and the memory), they run about the same.

    GCN is better in sum areas...xbox in others (this fact is 2 advanced for me 2 explain cuz i barely understand it)

    go 2 my thread called "learn"...it has a link that goes 2 a site that explains GCN in much detail.

    altho, MS gave a stat that was dumb-125million pollys/sec
    while nintendo gave a stat that was odd-6-12milion pollys/sec

    the MS stat included very lil effex so the grafix mite be smooth...but bland. while the GCN pollys would be very detailed.

    developers hav leaked out info sayn' that GCN can achieve 20milion pollys/sec.
    (ps2 can only less than 10million pollys/sec for sure)

    and developers note that 90% of the GCN power can be EASILY used! (but 90% of wut pollu count?)

    MS is overestimating(for hype) while Nintendo is underestimating (just 2 be safe)

    while nintendo mite be keeping their mouth shut...its only for suspense vs hype. which means they wouldn't dissapoint us...
