Microsoft has confirmed rumors floating around this mourning that Platinum Games' Scalebound has been officially cancelled. Announced at E3 2014 as a action RPG where you took control of Drew accompanied by a dragon named Thuban. The game had been rumored to be in development trouble for some time and the re-reveal at E3 this year didn't look to promising.
This leaves Platinum in somewhat precarious spot with Activision shutting down its licensing wing and now with Scalebound being cancelled. Nier is about to go gold and that team will go towards doing Lost Order and Gran Blue Fantasy projects but you still have half a studio out of work now with this cancellation.
After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for "Scalebound." We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences.
