Today on an episode of Pokemon Smash, a popular TV show in Japan dedicated to Pokemon, a major announcement was to occur by Junichi Masuda, the game director of the popular Pokemon games. Fans have been long awaiting for any news on the next major Pokemon title, possibly a third version of the recent Pokemon Black and Pokemon White DS titles currently out. A new Pokemon game was announced at the show, but not exactly the title many were expecting.
official website of the new Pokemon titles shows that the mascot Pokemon will be Kyurem (#646). Showing the legendary Pokemon in two new forms, having similar features with the mascot Pokemon of Black and White, Reshiram and Zekrom.
Usually the third game in a generation of Pokemon tends to be a new single version, so many were expecting something along the lines of a Pokemon Grey. This is nonetheless exciting news for Pokemon fans, but we'll have to hold out a bit longer for more info to be shared on what these sequels will hold. Whether these will become 'enhanced versions' of Black and White, which is what these extra version titles tend to be, or if this will indeed be a actual sequel that builds upon what was shown in Pokemon Black and Pokemon White.
The titles will be released in Japan on June 2012 for the Nintendo DS systems. No news on a release elsewhere, but it's safe to expect that the games will eventually make their way outside of Japan.
