It seems the folks at Atlus are hard at work on all things Persona. And rightfully so, since the Persona franchise has been quite the success story for Atlus since Persona 3 burst on the scene. Since then, we've seen Persona 4 release and remakes of past Persona games to help give them more exposure to their newfound audience.
Next in line for getting the remake treatment is, what many call the best game in the series, Persona 4. A teaser site was posted up a few days ago, and fans have already known that the site would be linked to Persona 4. It is now officially revealed, as shown in latest issue of Famitsu, that Persona 4: The Golden is set to release on the Playstation Vita system. Just like remakes of the previous Persona games, this will feature the core game intact but with many extras added on. Some updated features include more voice segments, a new character named Marie, and several other additions that were seen in previous Persona remakes like a new opening segment. Probably the biggest addition is wireless support for the game's dungeons. It's an odd inclusion, but it does make the game a bit more social. The wireless function will give you the ability to send out a message to friends when you're near death in a dungeoun. Details are still a bit scarce on that particular function, but it will be interesting to see how that will play out in the game. Persona 4: The Golden is planned to release in Japan in Spring 2012 for the Playstation Vita.
If a remake for Persona 4 isn't enough to cater to your Persona needs, then how about a Persona 4 fighting game? Atlus will be teaming up with Blazblue developers, Arc System Works, on a 2D fighter that will appear in arcades and will later release on PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles in Summer 2012. The fighter will take place two months after the events of Persona 4 and will features characters from P4 and P3.
It all sounds fine and dandy, but fans have also been long awaiting the next installment to the Persona series. Well it seems Atlus has got that part covered as well. The company has stated that perparations for the game's development are well under way, but that's pretty much all that was said. It's no surprise that a Persona 5 is in the works, but it's good to know that work on the game has started so hopefully we'll finally get a glimpse at what's to come after some time has passed.
