Nintendo's GameCube is great, no doubt about it, but old Nintendo mentality is still around. From lacking things such as USB support, a not so friendly support to 3rd parties, and a back turned towards the internet, I hope a lot of things will change when E3 rolls around.

But here are the main things that are missing:
Microphone built-in or a port for one on the controller
USB ports
A data port on the controller
A jog dial on the controller
A new look for the front of GCN(It needs some Nintendo magic done on it)
A HDD 5GB's or more
A packaged in 64MB SD card
56K, and Broadband packages
All colors available at launch
A packaged in GBA link
A packaged in demo. Like Mario 128, and some FMV.
Playable without a game. Like play a level of original Mario through the spash screen.

There not nessacarily big things, but would be a nice touch to an already spectacular console.

Does anyone know what colors will be available at launch? Just the blue?

Yeah, Nintendo said it'll probaly just be blue/purple at launch, but the other colors would be available later.

Nintendo is supost to release different colors at launch the purple color is just the color that Nintendo will advertise. theres supost to be a black, pink, silver, gold, and the unpopular purple. There will probably be more colors later when sales start to decrease. Let me ask you this is it realy color that mator? No, it the games that matter. I would take a purple cube if thats all I can get.

Nintendo said the colors at Spaceworld were'nt finalized. They had other colors primarily so it wouldn't be deemed immediatley "kiddie". So black, will definatley be released so it can blend in with everything in your entertainemnt system. And I'd pick up whatever color they have left just to get a cube.

You could try stuffing the toast into the cd slot but that may not exactly work.....

mate,
all those things would be good but what they raly need is an actual GUI (Windows, Linux) so you can do stuff such as chat, and make games.

think about it editing and making your own games.

A BFG in Perfect dark.

what do u think

I think the gold gamecube is the best and if it comes out that will be in my bedroom before you can say "gimme a gamecube"

Hmm...GUI's tend to eat up system resources pretty badly.

PC's can handle them a lot better since most have over 128MB's of RAM. So gaming won't be a problem with them.

And you don't really need one. Most games with level editors have their own little interface to do so.

but most of the level editors are pretty crap.

if it was inexpensive and could run it would be good to have on there

Hey Pretendo. According to nintendo.com the controllers do have microphone port, but i agree with most of the other stuff.

The main thing Nintendo should have chaged id the GC controller.

They should have got rid of the z button and moved the l and r buttons down so it was like 2 z buttons. That would be really good for 1st person shooters. U could use one hand for each gan if you had 2 pistols or sub-machineguns.
The should hame made the d pad 8 way istead of four and added a select button too.

The main thing about the console is they should have 4 memory card ports

i agree with you on some poins, like the playable without a game. i find the gc design quite nice to be honest, its different and small.. as for the USB, well i dont agree, unless it's like the modified USB that (i think microsoft is inputting?) jog dial, ehhh, why??? just use the D-pad lazy! lol. as for the 3rd party thing, well if that underground news is right, then you can blast that idea (see the igninsider for free site and check the news) and for the internet?? well, nintendo has appointed someone to make their network, so while Nintendo hasn't fully embraced the 'net, they are still going to use it to their every advantage, as i see it.
