Xbox Action-RPG Arrives
This ain't your typical Zelda-clone. Nightcaster screens inside.
March 13, 2001
Nightcaster is the "other" action/adventure game on the Xbox. Where Azurik appears to take a more Soul Reaver-style approach to the gameplay, Nightcaster looks to be more of a Zelda-style adventure.
One of the cool features of the game is that your character will actually age as you progress in the game. He'll start out as a young novice and eventually grow into a powerful elder mage.
i think thats this will be a cool game......the pics look good.

I've seen the graphics and did not find them to be all that Impresive. Although there is a good Chance of having good plot. I can't say that it will have good or bad game play, but to me it looks like there trying to rival Zelda whitch they will never come close to. The Zelda Demo was way more Impresive than any adventure game ever created. What do you expects its Zelda the game that beats all.

I just want to attach a big disclaimer to X-Box.
NOTHING(emphasis on NOTHING)shown as a screenshot for X-Box ran off actual hardware!
Their just representations. Or less subtly hot BULL S. Remeber the Robot, the butterflies, and the Ping Pongs? Don't expect to see them on the X. Maybe cube, but not the X.

You think you'll get away with calling X-Box the most powerfull console to date?
BWAHAHAHAHAHA...HA
I could go on, and on babbling about Memory Bus Bandwidth, RAM partioning, Double Data Rate RAM vs 1T-Static RAM, streaming abilities, and so on. But since most people won't read through it I'll make it out as simple as possible.
Now in order to compare the two consoles accuratley you must compensate for the unique(and still to be revealed)system architecture for GCN. X-Box at a glance seems more powerfull. It has 64MB's of DDR-RAM, a 733MHz PIII, and a nVdia GF3 chipset. But all that power is nothing without control. GCN is a finely tweaked machine, desinged for the gamer, by the gamer. Thus since Nintendo wasn't lazy, and did the uprfront work by tweaking they were able to produce a machine that does more with less cheaper. And all of this won't be reflected on the consumer.
So I'm gonna make this even simpler. Both consoles are pretty much equal. It's arguble, but GCN has the power where it counts. And I'll gladly clarify upon request.

I don't think the X-Box looks that great. As the graphics get better, I become lesser and lesser impressed with them. Give me something simple, such as the Gameboy Advance.

I dont care if Bill Gates has got millions or even Billions in the bank, why give the man more money by buying an over priced door stop with a green x on it. Gates has not a clue about the console market he peddles bug ridden software and shoddy updates, why cant he just stick to that. xbox stands for all that has gone wrong with industry, it should not be about making the most money and getting in every living beings brains, it should be about fun hassle free truely entertaining experiences, not sitting playing Fifa 3010 or Lara's baby returns 4 or even substandard pc conversions (xbox will get a lot of them). I think people are being rippped off and they cant even see it. Next time your in a game store and you see some kid part with aload of cash for a couple of truely crappy games say somethin Sony would go down the pan lol. Maybe I will E mail Bill and plead with him not to sporn anymore demons. Its time to take a stand and educate people about quality over quantity.

This is a xbox game.....so......
I think that I'll buy the PC port and a Geforce 3 as well. It saves me time and I guess money (I'm 30 and work ya' know). Wait.....mostly time.

I dunno...I've heard too many good things as of late about the Xbox. I only take what I hear from unbiased sources, so in other words, I don't count what I hear on an Xbox site, or what I hear on a PS2 or GC site.
I take what I get from the developers. They're what counts. I'm not taking any precedence over any console at this time, so don't make the mistake of thinking that I am.

I can understand that X-box may have some good features and also (not very likely) some decent exclusive games, but who in their right mind would want to buy a $300+ system if all it is is an inferior version of stuff I don't care about, and games that seem to be nothing great. All this and the fact that at E3 they still didn't seem to have their system working.

all the developers say that it is easy to develop for.. lol
do you take highly respected news soures? like newsweek?
allow me to quote newsweek: "xbox has nothing that anybody wants"
allow me to quote a survey done in japan on over 100 retailers and developers "what do you predict the market split up will be like?
................... Xbox - 3.7%...."
so ya know... i guess that speaks for themselves :P

What's funny? Is this not the truth? Let's see. I'll just bring up one off the top of my head here...
Bungie- "I feel so sorry for the guys that worked on [other] games," Jones says, "because they didn't have anything. For months, they didn't have more than one debug unit until three months before they were supposed to be done. We had the game running on a PC before we got the dev kits in December, and it took a week and a half to convert that to Xbox. Programming for Xbox is so easy that it's almost a joke."
Oddworld was "significantly completed" with the new Oddworld game, but it scrapped the whole thing for a chance at the Xbox. "Sony is a bitch to program for." The Xbox is so much easier to develop for because it's based on widely known DirectX technology. It's existing technology! There's no hangups or snags or bumps or problems along the way because everyone knows how to use it and everyone can utilize its full potential!

...and CNN. Yes. Besides, what do news organizations know about console programming? They know what they are told and that depends on the source BEHIND the source.

I could find just as many quotes saying the opposite of what you have. Quotes mean nothing.
And don't get me started on predictions. The Y2K bug was going to stop the world, Al Gore wins 2000 election by a landslide...remember those predicitons? Those predicitons that were made by "highly respected candidate analysts"?
