SHHHWOOOOAHHH! why does this game look so hawt!!! It's like Socom with better animations and crazy Resident Evil Monsters. Makes you wonder what the heck happened with DMC4 and RE doesn't it:huh:

But yeah, I might check this out shortly after it's release and the price goes down a bit, looks like good 2 player fun for me and my wife.

Probably get this. Last one was erm.... OK. Only got good at the last level in that valley where you had to work out which Mech to take out in which order to complete the level. Then it ended.

Yeah exactly and I have no idea exactly what it is that has changed for the good. Maybe its the co-op factor becuase i HATED the first game but since the demo for LP2 came out on LIVE I've been loving the hell out of this game.

I think the co-op element definitely helps it along. Looks a bit more action-packed too. There were quite a few parts in the first game where you weren't really doing a great deal, just running from point A to point B. The game needs more battles with massive creatures, those were the parts I liked the most from the first game :D

I think it's because Capcom didn't put the work as much into the first one, just needed to get something out there to establish themselves in this generation I guess.

Capcom is very capable obviously, so they probably invested much more into this one to make another nice moolah-making franchise. I'm sure it will be solid if Capcom gives it the right treatment, and it looks like they are reading the posts here.

Lots of nice looking monumentalism going on here, not unlike DMC4 or RE5 for sure. Looks cool.

Lost Planet was going to be a PS2 game originally, so I guess they kind of rushed it to the market back then. Now they're doing a better game with Monster Hunter elements, or that's what it seems.

I'll have a PlayStation Insider article tailored for it. I've already posted the Xbox 360 version, but that's just scratching the surface. So, I'll use the demo for PSI, since it features new content (a few missions available).

Really? That's very cool if so.
Have you read my article early on this thread? Looky!

Lost Planet 2 - PS3 vs 360 comparison: PS3 demo pips 360 demo

Now that the Lost Planet 2 demo’s available on both PS3 and 360, we thought it would be good to take the two head-to-head to see which looks the best.

And the results are… pretty inconclusive, as it goes. The levels of detail in both games are all but identical, and the textures look about as sharp (or slimy) as each other – even if the in-game blurring tries its best to distort this.

The lighting is slightly better on the PS3 version, although it does appear a little more jagged that its 360 counterpart.

If forced to choose, we’d probably give the PS3 version the nod, but only by the slenderest of margins. But that’s just us – check out the screens and see what you think.

Looks like the PS3 version of this game will be ok.

I'm still lovin' Lost Planet. I realized how sexy Lost Planet 2 actually is while playing it on my 62 inch TV. And I have also learned a few new locations in that lizard's canyon. I knew the level had "caves" but not like the ones near that rocket launcher. I also learned what those capsules are for. Its almost like playing domination with a few of your friends.

Lost Planet 2 Gets a New Look With GameStop Pre-order Bonus

Capcom announced today that Lost Planet 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to Lost Planet, just got more awesome. Fans that pre-order Lost Planet 2 at GameStop locations in North America will be able to unlock Resident Evil’s most famous character, Albert Wesker, as an exclusive playable skin when they play Lost Planet 2. Also, players who take advantage of the pre-order bonus will get their hands on some additional firepower via a revolver added to their arsenal of weapons. A nimble yet extremely powerful firearm, the revolver will help players hone their "one shot kill" skills. Lost Planet 2 comes out this winter for XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3.

To play as Wesker, you can pre-order now at: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=75038

This game received a terrible review from IGN. I belive it was a 6 out of 10 which is unfortunate because I had high hopes for the 4 player cooperative campaign which sounded like a lot of fun. Oh well....

OG_Monkey

reviews are all over the place for this one. GI gave it a 8.5/10. Gamesradar I think a 7.5.

I dunno man. I thought the co-op would be a blast and me and my friends had an awesome time with the co-op demo. Thought this would be a 9 game for sure.

I cancelled my pre order. Reviews seem terrible for this one. I might pick it up down the line when its cheaper for some co-op with friends but as someone who really enjoyed the the first game i knew they would ruin it by cutting out a decent story and focusing on 4 player co-op.

ummm....the first one was great and I had a lot of fun playing it....but it was also a rushed affair with lackluster story development and horrid cut-scenes sand voice acting.... If I had paid full price I would have been slightly disappointed (I got my copy for around 15 bucks I think)... So it doesn't seem like they cut out a decent story.....they probably just failed to realize how meager their initial attempt was and didn't improve upon their shortcomings.

Anyway.... I am bummed because I thought to my self when playing the first one that if only they developed the narrative and tweaked some of the animations and boss battles, the game would have easily been 9.0+ material....

That's what irks me.... apparently it sounds like they made a very similar experience only with LOADS of co-op elements..... so it still may be fun (most likely with some friends better than by yourself).... but there still is no coherent story development it seems....and it sounds like some of the presentation shortfalls weren't fixed... aka weird menu and save systems and animations that slow/hinder gameplay....

I know its the small stuff, but that kinda thing adds up and can really make or break a stellar game...

graphics look stellar though.... but that's Capcom for ya! Their usually great with their own graphics engines.

Yeah i know many ppl hated the first but sometimes you just enjoy a game others dont. I enjoyed the story and gameplay myself. This second game just sounds like a me too Unreal tournament 3 with different factions.

Anyways PS3 only owners it seems aside from the massive content cut due to DVD9 apparently the PS3 version also runs pretty shitty with framerate problems and pausing during the game according to IGN so that settles it for me. I wont even get this when it becomes cheaper.

Well I have a 360, so I may still try it out with that said I still haven't even played through the first Lost Planet. I attempted to play through the first game at one point, but I was so uninterested in the story and gameplay elements of the first that I just lost interest for some reason. I hope somebody enjoys this game some where in the world.

I'm in the same boat. While I didn't think the first game was anything outstanding, I still enjoyed it. The problem with this new one is that they've focused so much on the co-op aspect, that it really isn't worth getting unless you're going to play co-op. Most of the reviews have said that playing through the campaign on your own isn't viable, because the partner AI isn't that good. Add in the fact that we have yet another game running badly on the PS3, and my interest in the game has all but vanished.

AC!D
05-10-2010, 06:59 PM
I reckon its Mr Jun Takeuchi's influence. Its seems any game he is involved in has to have co-op. I just hope he isnt producer on Resi 6. 2 player co-op split screen is fine but any more and the game just starts feeling like an online multiplayer game. This is my worry for Gears of War 3 also with the 4 player co-op. I hope they change their mind and stick to 2 player co-op.

Kiwi
05-10-2010, 07:05 PM
I don't mind it if there's co-op in games, but as long as it isn't a detriment to the single player experience, which it obviously is in this case. Hopefully it will be different with Gears 3. In the last two games, you could've easily seen the option to have a 4-player co-op, because there's always been at least four main characters (despite not having them all in the same place at the same time). I think as long as they don't stray too far from the formula of the first two, it shouldn't be as much of a problem.

Anyway, that's a discussion for another thread.
