Back so soon? Amazon's Gold Box goes all PS3 again tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th. You know what that means right? It's going to be a boatload of savings on all things related to the PS3. What's getting a price slash though? No one will know until tomorrow.

At exactly midnight tonight (Pacific Time), the first deal will be available. This discounted item will remain a bargain for the entire day or until supplies last. The second lightning deal will hit at 6am, which will remain available until the third one arrives at 10am. Other successive lightning deals will be at 2pm and 6pm, making a grand total of five items with slashed prices. Hopefully there will be some good games included in this deal.

how about changing the title of this thread :) or is there one already?

There have been a few threads, but surely all of them are expired.

Whenever anyone finds a good deal, just post it here. I will keep the thread title for the time being, since there's nothing else to talk about. I will also merge the threads when necessary.

Put 'bargains' in the thread title maybe because I had no idea what Amazon Gold Box events were before I read this thread.

160GB PS3 'Drake's Fortune' bundle caught in the wild

by Joshua Topolsky, posted Nov 15th 2008 at 7:13PM

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/11/160_ps3.jpg

Hey, pal -- remember that 160GB PS3 Drake's Fortune bundle we told you about back in August? Well thanks to the totally awesome skills of one intrepid reader, we now know that they're available for purchasing pleasure at your local Best Buy (and other spots, we like to imagine). From what we can tell based on that extremely blurry photo you see, the package will sell for a holiday-destroying $499.99, so you'd better hope grandma drops a big check on you this season.

Deal: PS3 + 2 games + Blu-ray + remote = £300

Play.com continues to do its best to make the PS3 as affordable as possible, despite Sony's refusal to cut price. Two new bundles allow you to pick up an 80GB PS3 along with a whole load of extra goodies for no additional cost. The first bundle sticks a £300 price tag on an 80GB system, Batman Begins Blu-ray, Quantum of Solace, LittleBigPlanet and a Blu-ray remote. The second bundle swaps out Quantum of Solace for Grand Theft Auto IV and Batman Begins for 300.

Quality bundles, we're sure you agree. A great improvement on the "PS3 + 1 game for £310" bundles that we're so used to. So if you haven't taken the PS3 plunge yet, now might be the perfect time.

As of 2 weeks ago I get all my games @ $30 a pop. My most recent pick ups have been Fallout 3, End War, and Far Cry 2. There are another 7 coming...

Before it was a problem of not having enough time to play a game, if played at all. Now it's a matter of not knowing what the hell to play when I have the time to. And to think of the games that are coming...just stupid!

Best PS3 Black Friday 2008 Deals

<>

Black Friday:

The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that day. More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit).

The anticipation for Black Friday is at a fever pitch... After taking a close look at our Black Friday Summary list, we thought we would take a calm, collected approach and analyze some of the better PS3 gaming deals out there this year.

If you are looking to purchase a PS3 console, you may want to check out the BestBuy $399 PS3 doorbuster bundle which includes the following items:

* PS3 80GB Console
* Ratchet & Clanck Future
* Casino Royale (Blu-ray Movie)

Shortly after securing your PS3, you may want to haul ass over to Sears to snag a doorbuster special on the PS3 Guitar Hero III Bundle for $54.99.

The next item that pops out this year is the special over at Radio Shack on the Dualshock 3 wireless controller. Snag one on Black Friday for a mere $29.99. Your cheap ass friends will thank you for it...

Some other miscellaneous PS3 game deals include:

* Dead Space for $30 at Target
* Madden or NCAA for $30 at Walmart
* Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway for $20 at Best Buy or Target
* Burnout Paradise for $20 at Target
* Mercenaries 2 for $30 at Target
* NBA Live 09 for $30 at Walmart

Fairly slim deals from the retailers thus far, but you can pretty well guarantee that both Amazon and Buy.com (details coming soon) will have some amazing deals as well.

Happy Black Friday, and remember to watch your step!

Amazon does us one better: PS3 as low as $200

So the UK may be getting a pretty sweet deal with an 80GB "Blu-ray entertainment" PS3 pack for 300 quid, but for us Americans, we've got something even sweeter ... potentially! Why potentially? Because some of you out there will get the deal, while others will not. This is how it works: Amazon is offering three different discounted packages to its members; however, they will have to vote for only one of these as the one they want.

Casting a vote enters you in a chance to buy the items at the discounted price, BUT only if the majority votes in favor of your bundled set. If your choice wins, then you have a chance to be one of the lucky 500 who can snag a PS3 at that amazingly low price. Seriously, a full functioning PS3 with built-in Wi-Fi and an HDD (plus extras) for the price of the stripped down Xbox 360 Arcade? It's a good value and worth trying if you don't already have a PS3. The voter's bundle winner will go on sale by Friday, Nov. 28. So, just what are the choices? The image above shows it all, though we've written everything down after the break. And, of course, hit Amazon to vote!

Get Your Own PlayStation Credit Card

Posted by John Koller // Director, Hardware Marketing

You may have seen the mailers, and it’s true. We’ve introduced our very own PlayStation credit card to offer fans a new way to show off their PlayStation pride and earn reward points towards the purchase of PlayStation and SONY products.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3278/3056738630_1963504007_o.jpg

We’ve even sweetened the pot with a special introductory offer. Starting today until December 31, 2008, you could save $150 on the purchase of a PLAYSTATION 3 this holiday. There are a couple ways to do this. You can go to to www.sony.com/newpscard to get instant approval for your card, and an immediate $150 credit when you purchase a PS3 directly through the website.

Or you can go www.sony.com/getpscard to apply for the card and upon receipt of the card, use it at any authorized PlayStation retailer to purchase a PS3. The $150 credit will show up on your billing statement.

The holidays just got merrier. Happy shopping.

Yeah, and the thing is, Eidos tried to screwed over the PS3 users by giving DLC to the 360 users. I mean, if they have given PS3 users the DLC, the PS3 sales would be even higher.

Doesn't anyone else think the sales differences are due to advertising (combined with a lower price also though).

I see at least 5 ads which end in 360 for every ad that ends in PS3. The balance of advertising muscle is simply non-existent.

Share your Black Friday finds here!

Posted by Jeff Rubenstein // Social Media Manager

I love my routine on Thanksgiving: get the paper, then plan my Black Friday attack while watching football all the way until Turkey Time. And then: a huge pile of dishes, but that’s kind of irrelevant for this conversation.

Back to the Black Friday deals - there are a lot to be found this year on PlayStation games and hardware, as well as some awesome limited-time bundles which mark a great time to enter next-gen gaming for those who haven’t already.

So since all of us here at PlayStation.Blog are home with their families - we’re going to leave this post up as a PlayStation Holiday Deal “discussion board” through Monday, when we resume our normal programming. So if you find a great deal, even at a smaller, non-national chain, please share it with your fellow readers in the comments area below.

Here are a few I found this morning to get it started:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3068/3063285717_9213e3fb8e.jpg

Best Buy: Sony PLAYSTATION 3 80GB Package w/Ratchet and Clank Future Game + Casino Royale Blu-ray - $399.99

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3057/3064125102_b2c6b796af_o.jpg

Kmart: $25 off your next gaming purchase when you buy any PS3 system.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3229/3063285827_fc2bf17880_o.jpg

Radio Shack: DualShock PS3 Wireless Controller - $29.99

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3044/3063285865_a4ef980246_o.jpg

Target: Free $20 Gift Card w/ Purchase of PSP

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3242/3063285951_79df4b88d8_o.jpg

Walmart: Blu-ray movies including Iron Man and Kung Fu Panda for $15.

Now it’s time for you to share your own (and please keep it on topic!).
Good luck waking up early to score these deals, and Happy Thanksgiving!

And for all Germans:
Saturn has a 80GB PS3 plus SingStar ABBA plus the BD Mamma Mia for 399€.

Although this isn't a PS3 game I did find a new, greatest hits version of Beyond Good & Evil for 14.99 CAD today at EB.

I saw Red Faction for 9.99 (used EB) also and I forgot what the other game I was interested in that I saw but it was 7.99 lol (also used at EB, I think it was Black).

I went out quickly today and returned Resistance 2 and got back Uncharted and got BG&E with it. Costed me 30 buck to do that when just buying BG&E should've been 15 :(

Why I got rid of Uncharted again I can't really remember... definitely going to fly through it a few times during the holidays.

To celebrate the new site and the holiday shopping season, they're giving away Blu-ray and PS3 prizing in a massive high-def sweepstakes.

The giveaway will begin on December 8 and run through January 18. The winners will be announced before February 1.

So what's up for grabs, you wonder? There will be 14 winners total including one grand prize winner. The prizing breaks out as follows:

* Two Second Prizes: One The House Bunny Blu-ray Disc autographed by Anna Faris and one Hancock Blu-ray Disc autographed by Will Smith

Though the sweepstakes does not begin until next week, the store is open now and ready for browsing. It it already promoting a new $50 off the purchase of a Sony Playstation 3, game, remote and Blu-ray movie bundle.

here's the site. it's got a nice video section so that you can see the game before you purchase:

Today only: Buy PS3, get LBP free on Amazon

Still shopping for games? Amazon is throwing you another tempting bundle. As part of its 15 Days, 15 Great Video Game Deals series, if you pick up the 160GB PlayStation 3 bundle with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, you'll get LittleBigPlanet for free. It's not an exorbitant discount (a little less than 11%), but if you're in the market for a PS3, give this a consideration.

If Sony isn't your gaming cup of tea, Amazon's Gold Box Deals are all Wii-related. We've sent an army of ninjas to collect and decipher the lightning deal clues; we'll let you know what they find.

Retailer Amazon.com on Thurs. restocked Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, the last SKU to feature built-in software-based backwards compatibility.

The item, released in June, includes an 80GB PS3 SKU, Dualshock 3 controller, backwards compatibility to most Playstation 2 and Playstation games, and a copy of Konami Corp.'s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for $499.99.

The retailer is concurrently selling the limited editon 40GB MGS4 Kojima Bundle at $399.96.

Retailers in Nov. to Dec. offered discounted PS3 bundles on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to encourage high-definition adoption.

Amazon is offering $50 off the purchase of Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3, game, Blu-ray disc, and remote in a new high-definition promotion.

It is also offering a 'Buy 2 Get 1 Free' Blu-ray disc promotion.
Best Buy Co. Inc. on Black Friday sold a PS3 bundle that included a free Blu-ray disc and game for $399.99.

Sony this week said that it will issue a new firmware update to the PS3 hardware.

Firmware v2.53 is said to improve the software internet browser, including full-screen mode playability and live movie (using RTMP format) playability.

Toys R Us 'Buy 2 Get 1 Free' Deal is (Not Yet) Available?

Ho Ho Ho, Merrrrry Christmas. Or Happy Holidays. Whatever the correct wording is these days.

Toys R Us has a 'Buy Two Get One Free' on all video games on all consoles deal that was supposed to start on December 6 and end on December 12, but it looks like at least one store in Toronto has broken the start date, with reports that more stores in Canada have "unofficially" started honouring the promotion.

The deal works like this, you buy any two video games, on any console and Toys R Us will give you a third game free (of your choice) of equal or lesser value than the cheapest game. Want Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3, and Prince of Persia for PS3? Gears of War 2, Fable II, and Call of Duty: World of War for Xbox 360? The possibilities are endless.

This a pretty sweet deal, especially for those of you that have gamers on your Holiday shopping list.

If you check your local Toys R Us and they haven't started honouring the promotion yet, don't fret. The deal officially begins this Saturday. Happy Gaming to all, and to all a good night.

First-party PS3 games slashed to half price
19:5909/12/2008Posted by D+PAD StaffEmail This Post Email This Post No Comments

Online retailer Shopto.net has knocked a whopping 50% off of this Christmas’ range of first-party PS3 titles, reducing them to just £19.99 each.

LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2 and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift have all been subject to the drastic price drops, and are now all available for the sub-£20 price.

And they’re all pretty damn good as well, with LittleBigPlanet being awarded the elusive five stars when we reviewed it back in October, and Pacific Rift and Resistance 2 scoring 4 and 3.5 stars respectively.

Shopto’s price drops are the latest wave of economy-crisis-fuelled cuts sweeping across online retailers, following yesterday’s Manic Monday at GAME.co.uk and the weekly half-price deals on offer at http://www.gamestation.co.uk/

Use Amazon.co.uk or ShopTo.net if you want cheap UK games. But be quick, as most of them are only cheap because of special holiday promotions, not because of the cheap pound.

The usual price is ~40 to ~45 euro, about the same as importing an American or Asian game.
But now, many shops have 40 to 60 percent holiday discounts, resulting in games as cheap as 20 euro.

Rumor: Sony Cuts PS3 Price In Europe
PlayStation 3
+ See Full Image

Sony has been pretty adamant in their stand that they won't drop the price of the PlayStation 3 anywhere in the world. SCEA and SCEE have issued official statements on the matter in the past few months, much to the chagrin of some consumers.

But then again, Sony has this policy about "not announcing something until there's something to announce," so maybe all this denial was just a smokescreen to keep us in the dark. This picture that appeared over at the NeoGAF forums ought to give you some holiday cheer, as one shopper spotted a PS3 bundle that features a Blu-Ray movie and Blu-Ray remote for only €299. Apparently, the same deal has been noticed in other stores around Europe, including the Netherlands and Belgium, so Sony may have pulled a surprise tactical maneuver without making an official announcement. We haven't heard any evidence of reduced-price PS3 bundles in North America, but it'd be highly unlikely that a price cut would only involve the European region. Therefore, we're now waiting anxiously to see a press release in our inbox, one that will either officially confirm or deny a price drop. This is exactly what most consumers have been asking for; it's common knowledge that price drops increase hardware sales. But we thought this logic would fall on deaf ears at Sony, who seemed stoic in their "no price drop" position.

Stay tuned for more. For our part, it's a little bizarre to cut the price of the system less than a week before Christmas; if Sony wanted to take full advantage of this move, they would've done it immediately after Thanksgiving. So there's a whole lot of haziness right now, but hopefully, it'll become clear within a day or so.

I know tomorrow is the biggest retail day of the year... every year... at least in North America...

A bit late though if it is a price cut, no? It's really hard to tell if that's just an individual store/chain choosing to drop it or what.

Although there is quite a bit of purchasing even after Christmas up to the new year... getting at least a piece of that action wouldn't be so bad for PS3 sales.

Edit - I say it's not an official price cut. The promotions being printed black on yellow paper... not feeling it lol.

QFT^^

Well... don't fret, Sony gives us the option of making our own themes and maybe, if you are good enough, you might end of with a new job^^

If someone wants to pay for themes, he can, but the rest has the ability to go and download whatever theme he wants! Great stuff (since MS fanboys earlier in the cycle always touted that MS gave them "the choice" :D (well HDDVD is dead and buried now... GREAT choice :P))

If anyone is interested, if you apply for the Credit Card through the website, you get a $200 debit card in the mail. You qualify for it by spending 349 and up, which the PS3 falls under so I thought id post it. On top of that, I believe they are offering free shipping on orders of $100 or more.

For whatever reason I went to K-mart the other day and twas browsing the electronics area and lo and behold I found that they had the original PS3 sixaxis controllers on clearance for $10 each.

Sure they don't have rumble... but for additional controllers for friends/fam to use/abuse... you can't beat $10 each.

PSP Greatest Hits Line Grows By 10
By Mike Fahey, 10:00 AM on Fri Mar 20 2009, 4,687 views

God of War: Chains of Olympus and Patapon are among the ten new PlayStation Portable titles joining Sony's Greatest Hits lineup next month.

Ten new titles receive special packaging and a special $19.99 retail price come April 5th as part of Sony's 2009 PSP push. God of War, Patapon, and SOCOM: Tactical Strike are the only first-party titles to make the cut. Ubisoft represents with Tom Clancy's Advanced Warfighter 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas, while EA brings Fight Night Round 3 and Medal of Honor Heroes 2 to the party. Finally we have Sonic Rivals 2 from Sega, THQ's SpongeBob Squarepants: The Yellow Avenger, and Mortal Kombat: Unchained by way of Midway.

It bares noting that of the ten tiles here, only God of War and SOCOM currently retail for over $19.99 anyway, so eight of these titles are simply getting new packaging. Still, its the thought that counts, and I certainly won't scoff at the chance to get Chains of Olympus for half of the $39.99 GameStop is still charging for it.

Shack PSA: Weekend Deals on LittleBigPlanet, Steam Indie Games, More
by Nick Breckon Mar 20, 2009 5:23pm CST tags: Shack PSA, Deals and Discounts
Recession specials continue this weekend, with plenty of retailers offering great gaming deals that won't stress your wallet.
Steam is offering a deal on its entire catalog of indie games this weekend, just in time for the anticipated release of The Path. Every indie game is marked down at least 10%, while top-rated titles are all 33% discounted. Check out the full list--and don't forget that all Oddworld games are also 75% off this weekend.

GoGamer is running some of the better deals of the week, offering the excellent LittleBigPlanet (PS3) for a little over $21. Prey (PC) can be had for around $3, while Dark Messiage of Might and Magic (PC) and Call of Juarez (PC) have each been marked down to $5.

Rounding out the discounts is old-timey distributor GOG.com, which has slashed the price of every PC Interplay title on the service by 25%. Applicable games include the MDK and Earthworm Jim series, as well as Messiah, Shattered Steel, and Die by the Sword.

really, in which way are they 'synonymous' apart from a sale by a German store and maybe remote play? But really, they haven't thrown in much interconectivity past the relatively weak showing in Resistance PSP

that is what they will push this year as i predicted. this package was always on the cards because it makes sense even if you just want to watch a movie or listen to music.

This isn't a package per se... you get two packages... it is simply a bundled sale by a bigger german store. Since you can get a new PS3 for 330€ in Germany by now and a new PSP (PSP3000 that is, the bundle has a 2000 afaik, which is even cheaper BUT hackable"r") for 130€, this bundle is okay in price (usually, Media Markt and Saturn are NOT the price breakers! NEVER, although their marketing says otherwise, but people ARE this dumb).

To be honest, since I have my PS3, I don't use the PSP much anymore. There just are no games (this time for real, not like with the PS3) AND no games I want to play... I mainly use it on the train when I go to my uni flat to watch a movie or play SNES^

Yeah, the PSP really does suffer on the games front, but there are some absolute gems out there.

Personally I think it's about time Sony got more PSP games on the store and, as I keep saying, granted the PS3 the ability to play them. How attractive a prospect is producing a game for a ~70,000,000 strong userbase with 0 distribution costs?

Perhaps more importantly though is the terrible price at which most PSP games are released. I pick up and play a snippet of my PSP every now and then, anything above £20 just seems far too expensive to justify that style of play, especially when I know that games on the store don't have to recoup any distribution costs (bandwidth to an extent but demos manage to remain free so it's unlikely to be an issue).

Totally agreed... Patapon 2 for 30€ is pushing it, but Resistance:R for 40€ is just too much, even if it is a good game (PSN prices). Especially since I can get most games cheaper in retail, which makes absolutely NO sense at all...

It makes sense to Sony!

I was buying some things at a hypermarket today and the games section was really cheap, at least when it comes to local stores here as the Internet can still be cheaper. I could have gotten RE5 for 55 € and some fall released games like Mirror's Edge and Dead Space were cheaper than 30 €. I guess the recession has a lot to do with it. All PS3 bundles had two new games at 399 € too, with the exception of the Killzone 2 bundle.

Segitz

Of course, but it doesn't make sense to the consumer. Sony sells those games cheaper TO retail than they sell them to US. This is what I find a bit saddening, as bandwidth, as we know, must cost equal or less than 16 cents per Gigabyte.

But I don't digress... Importing is still cheaper than buying locally^^

Although I agree, the problem is, we've basically been told those things ever since PS3 launched over 2 years ago... Not that I am not satisfied with the current state, because I actually am quite satisfied, but there's still the little notch missing, that puts the PS3 at the top of ALL consoles^^

the difference between myself and others is that the word 'over' in 'over two years' makes no sense. i think 'only' two years, because it's a ten year lifespan. even if i don't get a PS3 for another 3 years, i will still be playing it for at least 5 years. like i keep saying: patience

I don't really care about the 10 year lifecycle. First, the PSP has been around for four years, there should be far more quality titles out, even sony have admitted so, it's not something we need to wait for, it should be here.

The PS3 is getting into it's stride, so im not sure we're really waiting, but i am sick of '200x will be the year of the PS3, just wait', until it comes into fruition, i just don't care.

I'm content, but i do feel there need to be far more quality titles out by now, it was just sad to see so many titles fil to match their hype.

On another note, anybody else realised that the UK is now the cheapest place for Software?

If you're a PS3 owner lucky enough to live across the pond, good news. Amazon has singled you out for savings.

Exclusive to the UK, Amazon has slashed more than 50% off of several PlayStation 3 games including LittleBigPlanet, Grand Theft Auto IV, Mirror's Edge and Tomb Raider Underworld.

No word on when the sale ends, so you may still have a chance to relocate if your stuck Stateside.

LittleBigPlanet price plummets

Media Molecule's critically loved title hits the £10 mark six months after release

The price of acclaimed PS3 title LittleBigPlanet has tumbled to around £10, six months after it was released.

The Media Molecule-developed title has an SRP of £44.99, but can be found at online retailers – including DVD.co.uk – for £10.89, while Play and Amazon have the title on sale for £12.99.

The aggressive discounting has even seen the game dip below the price of its official strategy guide. However, Sony feels the reduced cost can make the product more attractive to new customers.

“In general the retail environment is very tough at present, but the positive consequence is that when consumers are feeling the need to monitor their spending there are still some attractive deals to be had if people shop around,” said a Sony spokesperson.

“It is commonly accepted that in times of economic hardship, people value their entertainment. And the multiple hours of entertainment value represented in a video game can makes games a more attractive purchase, especially at a discounted price.”

LittleBigPlanet was greeted to positive press when it was released last year, achieving a Metacritic average of 95. And Sony revealed earlier this month that the game has reached two million global users. LittleBigPlanet also makes revenue through DLC, with new costumes and add-ons made available on a weekly basis.

LittleBigPlanet has since become a new franchise for Sony, with a PSP version due later this year.

Damn, I wouldn't have expected that until after they released the Platinum edition. People don't really have an excuse now.

you know i'm beginning to wonder how much MM make from all the downloadable content. think about how many people are making levels (600,000) and how many active users there are (2 million) and you begin to realize that if only 33% of those people regularly purchase content, then MM could effectively give this game away at some point and actually make 'more' money. let me put it this way: if 10,000 people buy the game at full price and 33% of people out of that 10,000 download content, then that's quite a good profit (the content amounts to a hefty sum over time)... but if you reduce the cost of that game and 500,000 people buy it and 33% of them download the content, then it will make MM and Sony more money than at full price. this is what i believe Sony mean when they say they can make more profit with a smaller userbase and partly what i base my HDD advantage argument on.

to over egg the argument just to clarify what i mean, if MM gave the game away then no-one would refuse it and that would mean a lot more people downloading the additions. don't take this literally for God's sake (i know YOU won't Matt), it's just a way of making it clearer what i mean

it's a dangerous move to announce the PSP2 in the same year you persuade many devs to support the PSP3000. how could Sony have persuaded so many devs to support a system that would likely see a drop in sales because Sony were about to reveal PSP2? it doesn't make sense and requires some lateral thinking. the only way it could work is that the PSP2 is going to offer something completely different from the PSP so that there is a definite difference for consumers. making it online only would be one way of differentiating, but Sony must also have promised BC for those devs that are slaving away on a system that is likely to see a drop in sales because of the news of the PSP2. i'd suggest that the PSP2 will be more expensive by a mile (price drop of the PSP will help this) and will use a different chipset entirely to the PSP... if it's cell based then expect remote play of PS3 games to be a major feature. and expect the removal of UMD to offer the space to put in the original chipset for BC. the design will have to be a massive departure too, so that consumers don't get confused and Sony can market both successfully. i expect PSP4000 to be announced for release this year and PSP2 to be announced for late next year

Trade in a PS2 +3 games, get $100 off a PS3

Don't have a PS3 yet? Really? Why?! Gamestop has a very good promotion right now, allowing you to save $100 off the purchase of a 80GB PS3 system when you trade in your PS2 and three games. To get the credit, your system must include AV cables, power cable and a working DualShock 2 controller. Most PS2 games will be eligible for the promo, but they must be worth at least $2 in trade value, meaning your old copy of Madden '04 will definitely not work.

Considering the cost of a new PS2 is now $100, this is quite possibly the best deal you'll be able to get on selling your old and busted system. With Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavy Rain and a number of PS3 exclusives in the pipeline, now might be the time to jump in ... unless you're waiting for that still-elusive price drop.

Infamous PS3 pre-orders price cut to $53.99
Published: 2 hours ago; 9:22am PDT
by Marcus Lai

Retailer Amazon.com this week price cut advanced orders for Infamous for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 to under $54 in a new game promotion.

Infamous currently holds a pre-sale price of $53.99, 10 percent under the MSRP.

Infamous is a new IP that allows players to wield a wide range of electricity-based super powers. The city location will feature an open-world design.

Amazon is offering an exclusive Playstation Home Reaper Costume when customers pre-order the title.

Amazon this week restocked the Playstation 3 Metal Gear Solid 4 Pack after the SKU held a discontinued status at retail.

The Metal Gear Solid 4 Pack, which includes software-based backwards compatibility with Playstation 2 titles, held a price of $499.99.

NPD Group in Mar. said the PS3 sold 276,000 units to rank No. 4 in Feb. U.S. sales.

I thought Zavvi went into administration? Our store closed at Christmas, it was only there about a year.

Yeah, those didn't seem like great deals, but I just posted them just in case. GTAIV and Bioshock should be available a lot cheaper in other sites, but Prince of Persia could be a good deal.

I notice they did the same thing with the PSeye, VG. Usually the peripheral is about $40.00, but Wal-Mart had them marked down to $30. It comes in at the exact same price as the Eye Toy on the PS2, yet far more advance.

Hang on a sec.

Can you sell a $20 value card at $17?
Wasn't the whole idea of MS and Wii points so that they can do discounts on their point cards?

If Sony can do it with real money then why do MS and Nintendo use a points system? (which btw is really off putting [i put up with it on DSi])

Because Sonys "Euros" or "USD" are non-refundable anyways, so they could've called it "Hurgahubble" and it would still be the same. This way it is just usually 1€ = 1€ in PSN...

Sam's Club is selling Mirrors Edge for $16.22. While I wasn't willing to pay 59.99 for it, $16 seemed too good to pass on it.

Is Ferrari Challenge worth $18.49? Seems pretty cheap considering GameStop wants $29.99 for a used copy and $39.99 for a new one.

Sony Bundling FFVII:AC with PS3s for Limited Time
Offer starts on Tuesday, but may only be a limited GameStop promotion.
By Kris Pigna, 05/31/2009
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children CompleteFinal Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete hits stores this Tuesday, and if you also happen to be interested in purchasing an 80GB PlayStation 3, it looks like you'll be able to get the movie thrown in for free. Kotaku reports that GameStop stores have been receiving copies of the movie to pack into PS3 boxes, with orders to begin selling them on Tuesday, June 2.

Evidently the offer will only apply to 80GB PS3s, and not the 160GB model. The deal hasn't officially been announced by Sony yet, but GameStop employees have been told that "There are no hard bundles coming at a later date. This is a one-time only pack-in-by-stores offer to boost sales." That makes it seem as if this may be a GameStop-only promotion, although that's not yet clear.

Whether this deal will be part of Sony's E3 announcements remains to be seen (their press conference takes place on Tuesday, as well), but in any case, know that if you're planning on buying a PS3, you can get a free Blu-ray movie with it starting Tuesday.
