at the end of the day on RB2 vs WT, itll just come down to song preference. But that producer mode in WT seems interesting along with the option to download all the user content for free
There are some very nice songs on GHIV, although i kinda wish they didn't choose "Pull Me Under" as the Dream Theater song.

Pull me Under is a great song though, really good early stuff. Rock band 2 is a lot of fun so far though I don't like that their isn't a solo tour anymore, it's all just band challenges or band world tour, though you can do that in single player.

My bro might pick up RB 2 later today.
They need more Jimmy Eat World songs.

Oh, without a doubt its a great song, its just i would have perfered something like "Glass Prison" "Metropolis" or "Home". Its just me being picky =/
I am enjoying the game so far. I just wish the free DLC was available and I had more people to play with.
Single player is kinda boring, and kind of easy.

me and my brothers might get it soon, just because of all the new songs

Try panic attack, battery and painkiller on expert drums and then say it's too easy.

I'm getting GHWT/ It was the setlist that sold me on it

Expert drums and I don't get along. Hell, Hard drums and I don't get along. But I already know those songs are a bitch. Especially Painkiller.
Anyway, the game decided to get a bit more challenging, which really sucks since I hate playing a bunch of songs by myself. Also, it sems to take forever to unlock new songs.
Oh, and in case anyone didn't know: In order to get Rock Band 1 songs into Rock Band 2, you need the recent title update for RB1 and you can export the songs in the Options Menu (in RB1, just to clarify).
So, when does the E-mpire band(s) start?
D3adcell

How do you unlock songs? Me and angela already did the expert impossible challenges and I thought we had all the songs unlocked? Maybe i'm wrong though.
We can start an e-mpire band whenever. Though who should have the band on their profile?

From what I've noticed, they unlock after you play them through Band World Tour.
As for E-mpire band, I don't physically own the game yet, but I'll probably be getting it soon if not next weekend, so I would probably be able to join by that point.

Through the tour mode. It takes a while. I think I have half of the songs for RB2 unlocked thus far and I have about 5-6 cities to play in still.
As for the E-mpire band: I don't know who should have it on their profile. Maybe that's why we rock out with multiple bands. Like, each of us can have our own variation of the E-mpire band depending on who's online and who's willing to play what. Sounds a little complicated, but it might work.

We're unlocking them through Tour Challenge..... but I don't think we have all the songs yet because we haven't done all the challenges.
D3adcell
09-16-2008, 04:27 AM
Well i'm pretty sure that as long as you are a member of a band you can go online with said band, you just can't play local tour with that band unless you own it. So we could have like 4 e-mpire people in the band and then just one of them has to be online for people to play in it.

I know that I would love to be in said e-mpire band!!!
anyway...you guys got it right....bothe challenges and world tour unlocks songs....but some of the challenges for different instruments have different songs so you may not have them by beating the challenges unless you beat them all....
world tour on the other hand unlocks them all as you go...and I believe you don't even need to play them...just unlock the venues that have the songs in them.
I am loving the game so far ....and I don't mind that there isn't a conventional single player... I really love the challenges because they are basically like the original single player in that there is a set of increasingly difficult challenges for each instrument and full bands.... but you can now have somebody play along with you if you want for the instrument specific ones.
the songs so far have been incredibly fun...but WAY more challenging than RB1... especially on drums!!! ugg.... even that new sonic youth "teenage riot" song gets me sometimes (stupid ending!!!!!) and that song isn't even in the last of the drums songs (although it is a 6 star difficulty....so maybe I should be too embarrassed.)

I haven't even played RB2 since I got it 2 days ago.

Everlong on drums is ridiculous. I got conned into playing it on expert drums and just got my shit ruined.
I've noticed too that mystery setlists randomly pick songs based on the difficulty of the venue. For example, we got Blackened then ...And Justice For All in the same set.
Also, Painkiller is not as bad as the ratings make it out to be, but it's still pretty hard.
Lucent Beam
09-16-2008, 02:30 PM
Try Painkiller on drums... what a pain. It's not even that it's wicked wicked hard.. it's just.. FOREVER. And then you just want to stop.
Mecha Richter
09-16-2008, 05:12 PM
oh I bet, especially at the end where it should be a rock ending, but it's not. It's just a pile of drums.
I always wanted Painkiller to be DLC, since I have always thought the song would be rape on drums.
Turns out I was right.

I haven't played those last two drum songs yet...
but even the earlier songs are alot harder than before... which is good because it's more fun that way....
I need to try out the other instruments now.... all I have done so far is drum.
D3adcell

I downloaded the megadeth album today, pretty fucking hard on guitar, every song has 3 or 4 guitar solos. The only one I haven't beaten yet is bad omen. The drums seem like they are going to be pretty tough too.

Rock Band might be the critically darling at the moment, but most gamers still flock to Guitar Hero, says Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
Speaking at an investor conference yesterday as reported by Kotaku, Kotick said: "Were outselling [Rock Band] 6:1. When you think about the access we have to 30 percent of the world's music at Universal, we have a unique advantage."
Guitar Hero, often considered the original gangster of North American music games, first launched in 2005 for PlayStation 2, enjoying instant success. Two years later, MTV Games upped the ante when releasing Rock Band, replete with toy drums and a microphone in addition to guitar and bass.
"Our nearest competitor [EA/MTV Games] has a couple hundred people working on these projects," added Kotick. "We have close to 2000 people just dedicated to the Guitar Hero note tracking, introduction of new hardware, and introduction of new software, so we just have a lot more in the way of resources available to us to continue to dominate the category."
This holiday, the rhythm wars will continue when Activision releases its response to Rock Band in the form of Guitar Hero World Tour, which features a song creation mode in addition to improved drums and instruments when compared to Rock Band. Rock Band 2 launched Sunday for Xbox 360.
Interestingly, many casual gamers have no idea that Guitar Hero and Rock Band are made by different companies. How curious!

Drum Rocker delivers the most realistic drumming experience available to any gamer, regardless of platform. That's because it was built by the engineers at Alesis, one of the largest manufacturers of professional electronic drums in the world. As a result, you get a kit that's designed to take a real beating, with all the positioning flexibility that professional drummers demand. While other drum controllers lock you down to a pre-molded plastic array of pads, Drum Rocker's professional aluminum drum rack lets you position your snare, tom and cymbal pads wherever you want. When you're ready to move from playing Rock Band to playing in a rock band, you can swap the game controller module with one of the professional drum brains made by Alesis, and you're ready to hit the road for real!
Designed for Rock Band 2, the Drum Rocker also works great with the original Rock Band as well as any other game that uses the same standard drum controller mapping that Rock Band uses. This includes Guitar Hero 4 World Tour.
Ultra-quiet velocity sensitive pads.
Drum Rocker's velocity-sensitive drum pads feature a playing surface that is much quieter than other drum controllers. They also feel great - the stick rebound off of the pad is much more natural and consistent than anything else available. The pad housing is made of high-impact plastic, designed to be whacked on stage night after night. No matter how much you punish them, the Drum Rocker drum pads can take it.
The pads are mounted to the drum rack with a metal L-Arm and clamp system, which allows them to be tilted, swiveled, raised and lowered to whatever position you want. Just one warning - once you play these pads, nothing else will do!
Complete the experience with up to three cymbals.
There's nothing like finishing a monster fill by whacking a crash cymbal. Or crossing over to play your hi-hat with your right hand while you keep the backbeat on the snare with your left. Or keeping time on a ride cymbal during the chorus. Drum Rocker lets you do all that and more, with cymbals that can be placed anywhere around the kit.
Drum Rocker comes with two cymbals and mounting hardware out of the box. You get to decide how you want to use the two cymbals that come with the kit - set them up as a hi-hat/crash, crash/ride or hi-hat/ride combination, then add a third cymbal (not included) to round out the kit.
All-metal kick drum pedal.
The kick drum pedal with any drum controller takes a lot of abuse. No need to worry with Drum Rocker - this pedal is all metal and built to last! It's also got the right amount of tension to replicate the feeling of playing a real drum pedal, and we're even building an accessory pedal to allow for double-pedal setups.
The pedal comes with Velcro and retractable spikes, so you can be sure it will stay put. You're not limited to where you place it either - put the kick pedal wherever you feel most comfortable playing it.
Awards from the top critics!
ION Audio has also been awarded Best Hardware/Peripheral by the Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo) 2008, for the Drum Rocker Premium Drum Set for Rock Band.

they do look badass though i don't even have enough room in my room for them.
After looking that the GHWT track list again, I picked out which ones are worth playing along with (excluding repeats from Rock Band 1, 2 and DLC).
The Eagles - Hotel California
Filter - Hey Man, Nice Shot
Joe Satriani - Satch Boogie
Korn - Freak On A Leash
Linkin Park - What I've Done
Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez
Metallica - Trapped Under Ice
Michael Jackson - Beat It
Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train
Paramore - Misery Business
Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
Van Halen - Hot For Teacher
M'yeah....while playing along to Death Magnetic seems cool, I will be waiting for Guitar Hero: Metallica.

I love most of RB2s tracklist, but there are a few I've been hoping since the first GH on WT (like One Armed Scissor, The One I Love, Mars Volta song, and Beat It). But there are far too many songs and artists I can't stand on GHWT...Wings, Tool x3, Ted Nugent x2, Lynard Skynard (live, which is even worse), Nirvana unplugged...(there's nothing acoustic about the plastic guitar feel), plus many good songs that just seem boring to play, full band or not (Hotel California, On The Road Again, The Joker, etc.)
There are also too many crossover songs. I think I'll just find a friend with World Tour to play the few songs I love.
Lucent Beam

^I'm starting to feel that way about RB2 though.. that there are a ton of songs that suck. Not necessarily are bad songs themselves, but suck to play. As opposed to RB, there seems to be way more songs that I dread playing.

well... I don know that I didn't like many of the original rock band songs for quite a while....and then they grew on me.
I'm liking most of them.....but your right....there are some tedious annoying one out there too.... tangled up in blue on drums is one of them!!!

tangeled up in blue on drums is horrible. I also hate shooting star because its an hour long.

Am I the only one that thought Aqualung was unecessarily long?
I haven't played Aqualung yet. In fact, I had no idea what song it was until I heard the little preview. Then I was like, "Oh......d'uh."
But yeah, I only like a few of the songs thus far. I was like that with Rock Band 1, however. I just had to get warmed up before I started liking certain songs. Alas, most of the bass lines are still pretty lame but I have fun regardless.
Well....Panic Attack is a little troublesome, but it's more fun than Green Grass and High Tides.
