Sega Japan is asking the world whether they still own a DreamCast. Sega has updated its Dreamcast website and opened up a section where DC owners can register using their DC's serial numbers allowing them to have a @dreamcast.com account. Check out the potential party over at www.dreamcast.com

Due the high volume of account requests, the service will be temporally suspended.
Temporarily, even?

So I guess a lot of people answered "Yes".

Dreamcast 2.

Bet it!

Haha.

And I still have mine. I had 2 but one was to far beyond repair, so I only have the one now.

"Do you still own a Dreamcast?" asks dreamcast.com. By all appearances, the supposed official site of Sega's cherished console has received a legitimate update, exciting loyalists that have been anticipating the system's 10-year anniversary later this year. By clicking on the question, visitors are prompted to accept a user agreement for an @user.dreamcast.com email account (apparently tied to Gmail). Applicants must supply a console serial number, email address, and password before being granted a [serial number]@dreamcast.com Gmail address.

The thing is ... Sega no longer owns dreamcast.com. Oh dear. While we have yet to obtain an English language statement from Sega, Japanese news site Mainichi has confirmed that dreamcast.com is no longer owned by Sega and is using the official Dreamcast and company logos illegally. Additionally, the current dreamcast.com domain registration information is also fraudulent. Engadget Japanese reached out to Sega for further clarification, and a representative stated that Sega is considering "appropriate measures." As we wait for further information, please (please!) do not submit any personal information to dreamcast.com. You've been warned.http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/dreamcast-com-converted-into-phishing-scam-sega-warns/

Fake or not I'm sure Sega is cooking up the Dreamcast 2 as we speak. It'll probably have motion controls, Dreamcast Online, Next-gen graphics, and use micro chips instead of CDs!! All for only $199.99. It will also have Halo 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and God of War 3, Shenmue III, Sonic Adventure 3, Soul Calibur IV, and Jet Grind Radio 2 available at launch with 20 different original Dreamcast games available for download (and all DC, and Saturn games BWC)...yeah if only......

6 months later

The Sega Dreamcast 2 has sold 25 million units worldwide to date. A Sega spokesperson spoke today saying "they are proud they are ahead of the market once again and continue to dominate with the Dreamcast 3" that has been rumored to be out in 2010 with "secret" technology that they promise no one system will have. -GameSpot

That's what I want to hear one day.

3 years later

Sega is still in battling the 46 year old mother when her son "stuck the virtual reality rods into his eyes saying that he didn't know what you're supposed to do" Sega commented saying "We clearly leave instructions in the box for a reason. The rods go into your ears and then you place the ultra thin SegA2145 glasses on your face and play the game as usual. This parent is responsible for all of her kid's actions and to show him how to use the Dreamcast 3 properly.

In other news Jack Thompson passed away today by plugging in his toaster after throwing a cup of 7up at his kitchen wall from trying to quote "figure out how to setup the Dreamcast 3" when trying to find out what content is in Grand Theft Auto V: We the People.

In other places men are being very distracted and even being fired from their jobs with the game Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball IV: Girls of the World. Men all over are taking time off of school and work to play this skin laden game with bouncing breasts, realistic graphics, and soft porn like content.

Oh boy...the world of gaming...
