Subject: RE: Developer greetings from Propaganda Studios... aka "Questions? We've got answers!"

Good morning, folks. Happy New Year to you, I hope it was a safe and fun one. Let's tackle these one at a time, shall we?

PS3 - Issues with PS3 development are largely overblown by internet "experts" and folks with an axe to grind. Face it, any new platform is going to present challenges and the PS3 is no different from the 360 in that regard. We've had over a year's head start getting experience on the 360, but Propaganda has extremely talented coders who took on the challenge of making Turok multiplatform and giving PS3 owners the best game possible. Sony was also a great supporter, providing on-site assistance here so that you guys on PS3 got the same AAA fps experience that the 360 owners are going to get when Turok's released. So to make a long story short, the PS3 game rocks as hard as the 360 version. No worries there.

Demo - we're going to make the 360 demo more widely available VERY soon, and we'll be releasing a PS3 version too. I look forward to the comparison videos and jpegs which are soon to follow, I'm sure. cool

Dinos in MP - I'm not going to give away the farm, but you'll definitely see more than just raptors in all multiplayer sessions. They're a great addition to the mix, making things unpredictable for both sides and really fleshing out the game universe to the same high level that our single player game enjoys. You guys will love 'em all...when they're chewing on your opponent as opposed to you.

haha.
First paragraph: Don't worry, a bit of problems but everything is awesome.
PS3 equals 360, don't worry. They are equal and both awesome. No worries on PS3.

2nd paragraph: The PS3 demo is coming later than the X360 demo.

heh..
Anywhoooo, I am 50/50 on this game.
It looks really dull but the dino aspect has me intrigued.
I guess the demo will be the ultimate deciding factor, looking forward to when-ever it arrives.

Turok has always been cool. I even liked Turok: Evolution. Ill probably get this one, its just a matter of when. If the demo is fun enough ill get it on launch.

*twirls finger in air*

I've never been a big fan of the Turok series. I personally can't wait till the next big game that isn't a FPS to hit...

I will play the demo and judge when I do. It could kick ass and you guys are dissing it before you know. It could also suck big time monkey choad. Who knows?

Alright now, I'm confused... There was already a demo released with pre-order of CoD4, and it was great. We talkin about a new one?

OG_Monkey
01-06-2008, 06:34 AM
I doubt it. I'm guessing it was just a chance for people who preordered to play it really early. But its more than likely it'll be the same demo

There was a disc 360 demo but it was quite an early build and it was far from perfect. You'd expect a more polished product now, as the game launches in February.

The 360 online demo has been released, so I'd expect the PS3 demo on Thursday as well. Or maybe not -_-

I am definately gonna download the demo, def not paying $60 for the game. Dunno, does fighting dinosaurs with assault rifles and a machete seem kinda like a 12-yr-old's wet dream? hahahahaha The video was kinda humorous.

EDIT: As soon as i find it

I played the demo on X360, it was really crap.

For me anyway.
Well it wasn't crap, just really dull and it didn't feel 'solid'.

OG_Monkey
01-16-2008, 02:23 AM
didnt expect much from this title anyway

PSN is always late.
We'll probably get it in 2009.

Also, it's not Thursday but the guy [developer from Turok team] DID say the PSN demo will be later than the 360 demo despite there being and I quote:
"ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO VERSIONS PLEASE BUY OUR GAME ON BOTH PS3 AND X360 ARE ABSOLUTELY THE SAME THEY WORK THE SAME OUR GAME IS PERFECT ON BOTH!

But yet, the PS3 demo isn't ready.
How odd, I thought "same" meant no difference.

Yet there is a difference between demo releases

hmmmm...
anywho, let us know what you thought of the demo OG.

OG_Monkey

Ill let you know as soon as i find the demo lol. I think it was taken down

Taken down?
It wasn't THAT bad....

yes it was

LMFAO!!!!!l

lol, they usually get taken down for technical errors i guess but you said it was because it sucked lol, thats why its so funny.

I think there's a review from an Xbox magazine and it got just a 7 out of 10. I've also seen some recent screenshots from the PC version and doesn't look that stellar anyway. I expect an average to mediocre game.

The news is that you'll have to wait until launch week to 'get your dino on' if you're a PS3 owner. Disney Interactive have confirmed to PS3 Attitude that the Turok demo won't arrive until February 7th, one day before launch.Meh, it's their loss. With the mediocre reviews it's getting and with Burnout Paradise and Devil May Cry 4 launching at about the same time, nobody will care.

Shame, Turok on the N64 was cool. Gone a bit downhill since then though.

Luis
01-17-2008, 05:22 PM
I liked 1 and 2. I never played 3. Evolution was terrible. I'm not really looking forward to the restart of a franchise that didn't get any better after the first two games.

Kiwi
01-17-2008, 05:23 PM
Can't remember which one I played on the N64. The thing I remember the most about the game is all the stupid cheats you could get, like where the characters legs were put on backwards, so when you saw him running about in a cut-scene or whatever, his legs would be running in the opposite direction he was going :-D

Luis
01-17-2008, 05:33 PM
Oh yeah, 1 and 2 were games that lent themselves well to playing with cheats and still have fun. That kind of games doesn't really exist anymore.

Fillibuster
01-17-2008, 06:10 PM
I always played the GTA games with cheats. It fucked some stuff up towards the end, and I always tried to get far without them, but they were just so damn fun!

Sephiroth_VII
01-17-2008, 09:46 PM
Yeah, the only game where cheats are really a big part of the experience is probably GTA. I haven't even progressed past them first island of San Andreas, but I've played for more than 60 hours, lol!

I'm still not sold on this game, because the UT3 engine is hit or miss & I doubt the MP will catch on... If the demo floors me I may change my stance.

I was interested after seeing the melee attacks, but had the feeling the game could suck.

LaLiLuLeLo

Well it's not bad. It's just nothing above average. Mediocre. Run of the mill. And when everybody and his granddaddy put out a first person shooter, you bet your ass you better at least be above average for me to plop down 60 bones.

After playing the demo I can officially say I have no interest in this title!
The visuals are average at best and completely garbage if you compare the jungle environments to Uncharted. I played the demo for about 15 minutes and played Uncharted afterwards; this game really makes you appreciate the technical achievements of Uncharted. Turok looks very bland visually the textures are meh and the lighting and shadowing are laughable when compared to Uncharted. I know Turok is multiplatform so it's not a fair comparison, but visually Uncharted seems like a generation ahead of Turok.
Now the gameplay was very average and the melee attack sequence was not very fun or well done from a control perspective. I was very disappointed with this title after playing the demo. This game is average and really approaching mediocre IMHO. I highly doubt this game will sell well with shooters like COD4 setting the benchmark for multiplatform visuals and control.

Once again this game really made me appreciate the visuals in Uncharted…
Naughty Dog are simply amazing and it’s their first go with the PS3 hardware!!!
I’m not sure about the UE3 engine, because the results vary significantly with this engine.
GOW, UT3, Bishock & Mass Effect are the only visually impressive titles using this technology and I’m glad most PS3 developers are using custom engines for the PS3.

End of rant...

Easily one of the worst demos I've played. Uninspired gameplay, average graphics, terrible sound... yuck! I couldn't stand playing the whole demo. This has nothing to do with the good ol' Turok either.

dnpmakkah
01-18-2008, 02:23 PM
Uncharted ruined gaming.

amuront
01-18-2008, 03:09 PM
Ok, just finihsed the demo.
uninspiring...but at least playable. (unlike Kane & Lynch).

Since i have practically zero expectation of this game, I think it is actually not that bad. At least the framerate holds up most of the time, which prevents it to turn into complete mess.

+ Dual-wield + secondary fire = potential great variation on gameplay
+ Good framerate most of the time (at least that's how I see it)
+ in-danger-QTE works ok i guess.
- Graphics underwhelming but serviceable.
- Horrible dialogs that are a pain to listen to.
- Absolutely detest the melee kill sequence (repetitive, framerate drop, camera movement and some clipping) (mostly likely Uncharted ruined it)
- Unable to cancel bow shooting....WHY?! (maybe I just don't know how)

TrueVCU
01-18-2008, 09:47 PM
Overwhelmingly meh. Dual wielding is col, but the blood effects on the dinos are sub-par and the characters are basically all trying to be rambo and failing.

dnpmakkah
01-19-2008, 02:48 AM
I was never a fan of dual wielding for some reason. It just doesn't seem natural but whatever it doesn't really hurt I guess. As far as the demo...begining is very dark and there is basically no sense of direction IMO. I usually don't get lost in games but in this one I did numerous times but that was just me.

LaLiLuLeLo
01-19-2008, 02:56 AM
I guess the consensus is in. Locky?

you just like to lock

LaLiLuLeLo
01-19-2008, 03:07 AM
Separating wheat from chaff is one of my pastimes, and it seems everyone's established that the game is pretty dull. Shall we continue? I did ask after all.

if you need just one vote then......ummm....sure go ahead why not. Blame it on me if anyone asks.

If anyone really gets butt-hurt over me locking this thread over a shitty demo then they can easily file a hurt feelings report to my superiors.
