A couple of days ago, just after school I went to the Shops and bought The Phantom Hourglass and i pulled out my DS so i could play it on the train on the way home and i turned it on and i notice a giant crack from one corner to the other corner of the top screen
so, now i have to save up some money to get a new DS just so i can play it hahah

Damn that sucks. Do you know how it happened? Was it a DS or a DS Lite?

That happened to me with my original DS. I needed to take a little better care of it. On the bright side, though, is that I had an excuse to get a DS Lite, which is so much more awesome.

^Yeh thats what I was going to say. If you had an old one, you should definitely get a Lite as they are totally awesome.

Call Nintendo first and try to haggle a warranty extension. You'd be surprised at how easily they'll go for it.

This is why I always buy a case for my handhelds, and typically some form of screen protector. The clamshell design of the DS and DS Lite present a false sense of safety.

That sucks.
But even out of warranty, Nintendo still might fix it for cheaper than the price of a whole new one.
Ask emiwee, I know she got her DS fixed recently.

My mate got his fixed and he told me it costs like $150 to $200 depending on the crack so I'll probably just buy a lite.

That's ridiculous. That's more expensive than a new DS Lite. Unless your from somewhere besides the U.S.

He's in Australia. DS Lites go for about $200 here, and in most cases youll be able to pick it up with a free game.
I don't think Nintendo of Australia and Nintendo of America work the same way. Because Australia is so small we get very little support.
Just go pick up a DS Lite. Once you see how awesome it is youll be happy your old one broke. :) (In a way)

R4's are awesome. I got one to play the old Lucasarts adventures, which are sweet. You really wont regret it.
Oh well. Good luck with that.

R4DS? wtf is that?
I love my DS. I just wish I had more games for it.
It's a flash card that lets you run unofficial software, including media players, homebrew applications and games, and *cough*roms*cough*.

Yeah but It's awesome because you can play Snes games and stuff on it as well
especially for games that haven't been released in Australia thats another upside to it.
oh, i know it's awesome. i had an M3 (which was basically the same thing). unfortunately the only homebrew SNES emulators for DS so far sort of suck... most games don't play fully correct.

Of course people still ride trains, they're good as long as you have something to do on them, because I knew as soon as I got home my Brother would rush me because he would want a turn haha, my mate used to have an M3 but now he has an R4 and is giving me his other R4 once i get a DS :)
