my freind gave me a really cheap japanese psx today except the av cord is fucked to pieces. when i take it back to australia can i use the PAL av cord from my PAL psx? if so i wont waste my money buying a new cord.
this thing looks so old, it must be like at least 12yrs old or something... how old is the psx? its gotta be getting on abit by now. this one looks like one of thre erally old models and the colours on the av plugs are all faded and the controller feels really small, compared to normal digital controllers even. maybe im just used to analoge.

i am pretty sure you can use ur PAL CORDS, but why the heck did you buy a new psx when you already have one?

If it's a PAL machine, you can only use PAL cords. PAL and NTSC sockets are different, you could only use NTSC if you had a converter - but the quality would not be what it should be with any similar conversion.

theres like a million great NTSC games that havent been released in pal or at least in australia [the only examle i can think of now is FFTactics but there is more :nervous: ]. and i didnt buy it, some guy gave it too me afte he picked it up at a flea market.
the av cord loks the exact same as my pal one back in oz. what if i bought a new av cord here, could i use that on an oz tv, the red yellow and white things are deffinetly the same size.

And red, yellow and white inputs should be the same in terms of AV, but the power source on NTSC and PAL should be different.

by power source you mean what i plug into the powerpoint right? yeah thats different but the cord is okay and i can just buy a power converter when i get back to australia so thats not a problem.
Basically i can get the console to turn on and the disc spins and stuff but the red/yellow/white cord is tattered something horrible.
thanx for you help all.
