So I got some new info about PS3 and Rev, very reliable, and if you can connect the dots, I got it from a huge source.

Anyways, Revolution development is going about as good as 360 development was during the same time period. The company I talked to is excited about it, and said they definately will have to make it unique from 360 or PS3. The guy I talked to said he has only played crappy demos that came with the developing kits, but he wants to work on it after he is done with the game he is working on now, which comes out within the next few months. However, he wants to work on sports games for the Rev.

PS3..well many people I talked to said they know very little about it, and in fact are only now planning for it, at least in their studios. Right now they are only worried about current gen, Rev, and Xbox 360. Xbox 360, being the most important new thing to them right now. These people I talked to in fact, said the difference between PS3 and 360 is MS gave them something to go off on even before the alpha kits went out. So because of that, they went into making a new game a few years ago, only to realize they had to hold off for a bit.

PS3 though, they said they know less about than the Revolution, which scares them completely, because that could mean bad times at their company. Not for them specifically, as they are pretty secure in their jobs, but that the PS3 could cut into their profits.

Interestingly enough, it has been revealed PS3 may not be coming out until Nov in PS3 (in Japan), and my optimism about the system is wanning. Revolution however, I am a bit more interested in, although I can't divide my attention amongst to many games.

Also after polling a few developers I know about prices, they all said they aren't in the business of pricing systems, but if they would guess, Rev $200, and PS3 $500

BTW if any of you think you know where this info came from, if you try and guess I will delete your post.

Hmm, pretty interesting, oh, and the pushed back launch date for the PS3 has been confirmed by sony. Blu-Ray problems appearantly.

Well, not exactly. Blu-Ray is coming out in May, alongside HD-DVD (to begin the war). I think the most profitable way to produce PS3, is to delay it further, so that the price drops a bit to a level that Sony is comfortable with.

A lot of people have theories, such as "they're trying to make a suprise launch" (like Saturn and Apple products before them), at E3. But I don't agree with them, because blu-ray is nearing its launch, and it is TOO soon to even launch a platform when a media technology is coming out at the same time.

Besides, in order for the bluray to take off, it needs to have its own "shine" otherwise, PS3 will take it.

Apparently it's Blu-ray copyright protection technology issues (http://darkzero.co.uk/index2.php?newsid=1986). Not surprising really considering it's Sony.

I also had a good laugh at the image here (http://darkzero.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6797) as they've been flaunting that console's "superior" power since it was announced. A 360 can do that no problem - hell, my ol' Gamecube probably can get pretty close to that.

Really can't wait for E3 though - it should really be magnificent with everythig being uncovered, the companies fighting it out (Microsoft should be bringing in some interesting things so they're not shouting "look at me!" from the corner while Sony and Nintendo drum their beats), and the only shitty thing about it? I'm too ****ing young to attend.

edit - Carlos brings up a good point with the PS3 taking away from Bluray's thunder.

I was reading recently that one of the console makers was filing a patent for a system that would "register" a game to a console, so that you couldn't play it on any other consoles afterwards. They were unhappy because they don't get a piece of the used game market or rentals, so this would kill both of those options for gamers.

I wonder if they thought to include the possibility that your console could break, and you'd need to buy a new one. If your games won't be playable on the new console, why bother? Actually, why bother getting even the first one in that case?

I heard about that too, it was with sony, but I think that it was just a rumor. At least I hope it was, that would be horrible.
