GTA IV gets a perfect 10 from OXM.


It says something that even at the end of a three-day session, with every island and a substantial chunk of the sidequests unlocked, I was still ploughing on because I wanted to see how the story ended.
And I was still finding new stuff: the way a police klaxon goes strangled and gargley if you dent the light bar, the pedestrian who had the original GTA theme as their phone ringtone, the way that headshot drivers can fall on the horn and accelerator so you're run over by a dead man...This sets the standard for what you should expect from a truly next-gen game. You owe it to yourself to play it.

* Skipping a trip in a taxi costs more than simply sitting back and enjoying the view of the driver's head.

The Story Gang
This special single-player leaderboard recognizes players who complete Niko Bellic's main story arc of Grand Theft Auto IV - The leaderboard ranks players according to the total amount of playing time it's taken to complete the story, as well as a historical rank by who has completed it first. Members of this club will receive special online widgets and merit badges marking all of their in-game accomplishments.

The 100% Club
Watch to see who will be the first to complete 100% of the game. The first ten people to be identified on the Social Club as reaching 100% will be sent an ultra-rare commemorative 'key to the city' to mark their accomplishment. The Hall of Fame

Here's what all the fuss is about(slight spoilers):


A lot have been said already about the rather explicit content of the video game Grand Theft Auto IV (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) from Rockstar North.

Some are so explicit, in fact, that the developer has decided to remove them from the final copy of the game. Such is the topic of conversation by the members of the forum Whirlpool.net, an Australian communications news site.

One member who goes by the name iCE654 even tried to contact Rockstar to get some clarifications. According to the forum member, Rockstar did respond to his inquiries and gave a brief overview of the scenes that were omitted. iCE654 shared what the developer said:

I can tell you that the scene involves a weapon being inserted into an enemies private area during a mission where Niko is taking revenge after one of his close friends was forced into sexual intercourse during his stay in prison.

Rockstar added, according to the forum member, that the above mentioned scene had to be deleted in order for the game to avoid getting the rating of Refused Classification. Rockstar itself, on the other hand, has still to confirm this statement.

Major UK retailers already sold out of GTA IV

Several major UK game retailers and supermarkets are already sold out of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Big gaming outlets such as Game.co.uk, HMV and Gameplay are either completely sold out or can no longer guarantee delivery on April 29.

While it seems as though now you’re going to have to take your chances in shops on release day, most major online retailers still have the special edition available.

It also appears that the PS3 version is in higher demand than its rival.

Here’s a list of retailers that no longer can give you the game when you want it:

GTA IV-Ps3 to have 5 Minute mandatory Install+Sixaxis Controls

Skip, the writer of the 1Up Preview of GTA IV has recently posted on Negoaf adding a couple new lines of Information, First of all his Preview was of both builds of the game and originally didn't include the comment about the 360 controller and he has no clue why that was edited in. Secondly the problems he wrote about are pretty minimal and only very slightly noticeable. But The most important info he gave out is that the Ps3 version has Sixaxis controls for Cars, Bikes, and Choppers along with a 5 minute Mandatory Install. The R* Employs he was with also said they "think" the Ps3 version looks slightly better, but Skip says playing side by side he couldn't tell the difference and that the opinion of the R* employees he was with didn't match the opinion of all the dev-team @ R*.

Mandatory? The back cover just says that only 3+ MB of space is required. Anyway, no biggie if true, and surely it's for the better. The HDD is there and the developers can take advantage of it.

As discovered when Matt pointed out, that back cover doesn't have to let you know of the space required for the HDD install, just check the back cover of GT5: Prologue.
It says 250KB required but the install is a few Gigs I believe (or at least much more than 250KB lol).

No-one truly cares anyway, some just point it out to be anti-PS3.

Burnout Paradise doesn't have any install. However, the online mode requires a considerable amount of space to work and it requires the HDD on the 360.

Doesn't matter with me. Any differences be it on the ps3 or 360 is probably very very very minimal. I could careless cause i just know that the game is going to be badass 360/ps3. Well, from what we've seen, PS3 pre-orders have outnumbered 360 pre-orders. If you look at the stores/sites that have run out of stock to supply, 3 of them have only run out of PS3 stock.

Anyway, blah blah, that's for the fanboys to wank over.

Oh yea, we got a couple of huge cardboard cutouts advertising the game today. We've got a lifesize Niko sitting inbetween our display PS3 and 360. I'm gonna ask if I can take it home after we've stopped using it :)

Info has emerged that Ricky Gervais will be making an appearance in GTA IV. Interestingly, he wont be playing a character in the game, and will instead play himself, performing a stand-up routine in one of the Comedy Club located in Liberty City that you can frequent throughout the course of your time with the title. Take Two Interactive's President Strauss Zelnick has just confirmed at the company's annual general meeting that Grand Theft Auto IV has gone gold. Maybe but most people already know this. I think I can recycle 100 articles from both sides that would make you cringe. Its just flamebait material for people to enrage over and its not needed. well i don't think we can blame R* for this. clearly (if true) MS are worried about the game sale V console seller aspect of GTA and have come up with the most asinine argument i've heard in a while. what it overlooks is the fact that there is an optional install on the 360 which suggests that with the install there will be improvements... otherwise, why bother on the 360. like i keep saying, Take Two are not going to be happy to have taken the loan for downloadable content (baring in mind at that time that MS was promoting the 'Elite') and find themselves facing a shrinking market for that content with MS reducing the price of the 'Arcade' thus promoting that instead.

Speaking of which, Lazlow, one of the celebrities to appear in GTA4 had some new GTA4 info which confirmed what was planned for DLC:


*About DLC: "We are already working on new missions, new downloadable missions. They'll be new missions, new characters, new comedy. First will be in August."

* If Niko gets shot in the leg, he will bleed from the leg and begin to limp.

* At least 20 missions are dedicated to controls tutorials.

yes i expect them to promote the downloadable content, of course. but that is just knocking the opposition. there was no mention of the fact that DLC is coming... perhaps because it will take longer than 5 mins to download and install?

No other way yet, I'm sure once it is fully launched, more functionalities of posting it will be available.

They said it's a deal running from now to a little short after the launch.

MS also said they'll advertise GTA4 as hard as Halo3.
MS is putting all it's eggs into the GTA4 basket, I don't think the pay-off is as great as they hope it's going to be.
