Ah, the wonder and glory. I've been waiting for this game since it got announced & new screens are extremely welcome!

I'm most happy to see nice shots of my people, the Lilties! w00t!

The video is over here: http://www.ffccnews.jp/2007/03/17.html

Though I didn't gain much from watching that video I can say that the fact it has voice acting is surprising. I wonder if they'll translate it when it comes over to the states. The graphics are stunning..but the images tell much more about the combat system than the video does. That's too bad, I really wanted to see it in motion.

Chances are high that this will be another expensive DS game from Square.

Not a big fan of the drawing style, but that does not make me any less excited.

Yeah, I agree with Phoenix. They all look too kiddy now. Still, though, this game is going to rock.

And where are the Selkies?! :buldge:

Haha, Sheikahs.

Erm, yeh, it looks really cool. I too was surprised that there was voice acting.

Ill definitely pick this up. For some reason Ive been wanting to get back into FFCC on GC. But i want to play multiplayer with someone but no one around here likes it :(

Haha, why did I put Sheikah?!

Anyways, Danji, my guess is that it's not voice acting. The voice quality seems too good for a DS game, and most Japanese trailers have a voiceover when there's a lot of text to read. They did it with Riviera, too.

What I want to see is a screenshot directly from the DS. The graphics are impressive, but what will they look like on the actual screen? Speaking of the screen, will gameplay be on top or bottom screen?

I saw these screens earlier this week and it looks great. I'll get it.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's just for the trailer, as well. I guess we'll see when it comes out.

I really hope the gameplay is on top and the menu controls are on the bottom. One of the trickiest parts in FF:CC was trying to change your items and stuff in multiplayer while looking down at your GBA screen.

^Yeh thats a good point. Ive just started playing FFCC with my little brother (yay!) and when we're about to die its hard to juggle around the attacks and healing things in your command list.

*steals from other thread*

Also, Lucent plays FFCC right? Could you tell me if you can fuse spells while playing multiplayer? I got more than 1 Fire magicite thing and put both of them in my command slots but cant fuse them. Im pretty sure thats how you do it in single player... I suspect though that you are meant to have 2 players with the same thing and cast them at the same time. That would be gay because my brother chose a strong guy and doesnt use magic.

Yes, you can fuse spells but you have to do it cooperatively. (Ends up meaning, for example, that you can't cast Holy by yourself.. you need someone with you.)

In order to fuse a spell (let's say, Fire), two (or more) characters charge their spell and line it up on the same spot and the target will glow brighter and then you release at the SAME time to cast Fira, or to get Firaga, one releases then the second one releases after a delay. Three characters with Fires released at the same time will be Fira+1.
Same thing with spells like Holy.. you just take the spells you would have used and release them either at the same time or delayed to get the desired result.

Damn, thats really annoying. Oh well. We just got up to the fifth year! Its taken maybe 6 or so hours. Maybe a little more. I find it funny that when I first played that game (over a year or two ago) I got up to the 4th year with 13 hours clocked up. I dont know how it took me so long... :(

My ex and I cleared the game with all artifacts for each of our characters at around 80 hours. Of course, by that time we were so overpowered that the final boss was pathetic.

Wow I am definately picking this title up. Looks great!

I'll preorder this in fact. Any date so far?

..and YOU reminded me of the annoying Zombie Dragon boss in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. Jesus was that a difficult fight. I never made it out of there with a decent amount of health.

A new vid is up on FFCCnews.jp, but its sort of pointless:

Wow, this thread is fourteen days old. Have I been away from the DS board for that long?

*looks at images and video*

Hrmm. While Crystal Chronicles on the GameCube wasn't exceptional, I still enjoyed it enough. When I learned of the upcoming DS game way back when, I wasn't sure if I'd be at all interested. I'm still not so sure, and the art style isn't exactly helping, but I'm open to a broad range of art styles as I was with Wind Waker. I didn't expect the voice acting, which is a plus. If I can play this with my wife with just one single copy of the game between us, that would be a definite plus in its favor.

I love that it takes a nice little spin on the lame saturday morning anime cartoon art of so many rpgs.

Damn its been almost a decade since i last bought a square game, and this year will be have me getting 2, FF3 was the first.
This is strange ive basicly been annoyed to hell over the overly dramatic nature of most square games but this and FF3 have a more open narative...
First me buying EA games now this... i wonder if i got a soul left.

But holy monkey hair those textures are insane for a DS title, even the floor looks great and detailed.Kinda makes ya wonder what a truely good engine on the DS could do.

Coming out in August '07 in Japan, Square said they want the game to be perfect before release. I hope it is localized rather quickly.

Tons of new stuff posted here:

http://www.ffccnews.jp/game/index.html

Including what looks to be some shots of your custom characters. I notice that the Yuke looked more like a black mage than ever (7/24). Those shots of the Selkies there look kind of dumb:

http://www.ffccnews.jp/entry_img/0724_gamenews03.jpg

I figure its Clavat, Lilty, Selkie, Yuke, Lilty, Clavat, Selkie, Yuke

Watching the top video (7/27), they're talking about the differences between the characters. Including the new thing that Selkies can shoot far away and Lilties use a magical pot.

The Moogles are so cute. Sounds like the only online WiFi is sending moogles to each other.

The part about the switching between the top and bottom screen looked interesting.

Also, the switching of costumes between races looked cute too.

The graphics are looking much, much better. Very clean and colorful. Though I am still wondering when this game will actually come out in the US : /

Woot, jobs rather than being the same character with different stats!

Damn, only on-line play sending moogles? What a disappointment >_< Nevertheless is looks really cute and I'm still excited ^_^ Just have to finish my 0293029 other games first lol

Oh man a job system? that's cool

But It seems that the characters are constrained to the ones you own (no create your own character like in FF:CC for Gamecube)

which means no Selkie males

Phoenix
08-08-2007, 09:25 PM
Well, on the Gamecube you hardly would create your own characters. There were not many things to individualize.
