I liked all the characters too. Though the story is nothing new, and cliche'd, it followed all the right ones. The script and the acting were just great. I can't wait til the next one.
This should be game of the year.

*looks at halo, mass effect, UT3, Quake 4* My god he's right!!!
BTW. I really like how they did elena in uncharted. I was shocked. A female character that is actually feminine. Not merely a guy modeled as a female for dorks to wank over. I'm looking at you Perfect Dark.
The Boss from MGS3 had a female mo-cap actor, though it was a man for the CQC sequences.

I hate traps, lulz. I get a lot of them when harvesting /b/ with DownThemAll, which is rather annoying since I just want some funny stuff to look at when I'm bored.
Oh, and hello, my Anonymous brother.

Down Them All is awesome. That's why you have to look at what images you DO NOT WANT first, write down the last 4 digits, then single those badboys out before you mass download the rest.
Down Them All + /gif/ = fap fap fap

I just download everything, then delete all the stuff I don't want. Linux also has the lovely command "rm *.html", which deletes all those pesky html files DTA dwnloads along with the big images.
Anyway, back on topic.

Yeah, and games are cheating too (so to speak)...
If you get the right woman, there's no question :D
Multiplayer? I dunno, I would not play it. It would just be another game (as with many games with tacked on multiplayer). They could just release "Uncharted: Deathmatch" or somesuch :D
Cyrus
12-17-2007, 08:31 PM
No, not tacked on, I mean they should really design multiplayer maps and push it. The mechanics are great and I think it could be amazing. The "hanging from a ledge and shooting" could be great in multiplayer as well..

It's not as simple as just dumping a bunch of players into a map and let them play it out, these things need EXTENSIVE BALANCING, which presents two problems:
1) Naughty Dog has never done a multiplayer shooter.
2) Naughty Dog only has 90 people and when you're already working on a AAA game, it takes up most of your staff.
Don't get me wrong, it would be cool to see something like mercs vs. pirates but it's alot to ask from Naughty Dog especially given their inexperience with respect to multiplayer and the fact that they're already working on a brand new IP from scratch.
Cyrus
12-18-2007, 08:22 AM
Yep, I know exactly what you mean.
I just think that the mechanics of the game are so great that I'd REALLY love to see a real multiplayer Uncharted with maps designed specifically to take advantage of the mechanics when people are playing against each other and not people against AI like in single player.
It could be crazy, something completely new IMO. Gears is very limited because of the more horizontal nature and the slow movements and the mechanics arent that varied otherwise either but when playing Uncharted I was constantly thinking how awesome it would be if the enemies were actual people. It could be so chaotic and cool.

That would be cool. Fighting against others online looking for treasure. I can see it working gameplay foundations are practically already in place. Just need to let people online with some kick arse maps. It will be crazy.

I am now after you enter the tomb. That part with the numbers is really a nice platforming bit. (man, the church bit sucked... I fell down at least 30 times, because I couldn't figure out, where to jump and where I fall and die... I got FURIOUS)
Quite a nice game actually. But, I too found that the "balance" between shooting and platforming was a bit off. They could have added quite some more platforming to it. But still, this game rocks!! Not a question!
Jay Gee
12-18-2007, 08:24 PM
Huh. I had my most problems in the catacombs, actually. The church bit gave me about 2 deaths tops, but that was from really bad jumps I made. The catacombs just pissed me off, though. Totally frustrated with getting through the first part.

The church was the worst for me as well.

The church was the worst for me as well.
Yeah, I know what my problem was^^ But in hindsight, one is always smarter... I tried to jump onto the ledge on the left and didn't hit it, so I fell... I didn't bother to try it again, as I thought "just nearly always connect, so I am not supposed to go there"... I then didn't know where to go (after the right one)...
I am thru now^^ (endgame experience in spoiler tags)
Man, Navarro is an unfair and "anticlimatic" endboss... First (I played on normal) he can onehit you and second, it's just... "a prolongued firefight" imho. The outro too is very anticlimatic, considering this game is a very movie like experience, the ending is too short and nothing happens really beside them leaving. I am no movie writer or director, but I've seen enough movie and game endings that are more satisfiable.
If I find the time, I will play it thru again on hard, maybe crushing (there are some parts however, that I found already too hard on normal). The second jetsky part I hated for example... There are many parts in that game, that are trial and error... And I find this to be not what gaming should be about. Sometimes I was about to throw my pad into the corner, because I died of whatever I died of too often (like the church). And I seldom get that feeling of dissatisfaction in a good game.
Still, this game truly is AAA. My rating would dial in at about 9.5 (-.5 because of unnerving parts, that could have been sorted out). The extra stuff also is pretty cool (and not as lame as in HS^^)

I finished the game for the third time today, now with crushing and fast motion on. Tried the game without the fast motion afterwards and damn it feels slow now. :D
It took me 13 hours to go through. Ok, I did search for the treasures a bit more this time but not nearly that much. I just literally died over a 100 times at a couple of shootouts and generally every gunfight took more attempts than without the fastmotion. I got through it on hard at 8h 45 mins and crushing took 8h 48 minutes and this time I knew everything from memory and still it took 13 hours. :D Wouldnt have been that difficult if the game let me aim with my left hand but it is still pretty difficult.. and fun even with my wrong hand aiming which is a first for me in a shooter.
I have all other medals except "collect 55 and 60 treasures" now, I have 53 treasures. Next time I'm going to play crushing mirrored but now I'm going to take a little break from the game to play some other games like R&C and Mass Effect.

A quick tip is to slow down the sensitivity, and take cover and line up you shots first. As the game has no onscreen marker when not aiming, you'll need to make an estimate as to where the middle of the screen is all which makes it much easier to aim.
The basic gun is also best for long shots and headshots. (Later on in the game you get a much better equivilent of basic gun)
Avoid the Uzi at all cost.
Personally I've speeded up the sensitivity, I'm a headshot king.

I didn't have aiming issues at all (except, as with all games, with the sniper rifle). Tbh, now having played WH again, I must say, that the sensitivity in WH is much lower :D (but its also more hectic, so it compensates)
I did have an occasional camera problem, but that was really seldom.

Adjust your sensitivity, people. Thing is, I left the sensitivity at its default level and got all of my headshots that way. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

YES. This thing was an awful, awful weapon. It does more damage to you when the enemies use it than anything you can do to them. I think it comes with 60rounds that usually have HALF used up just to kill one guy. Horrid weapon. Damn, I can't wait to get home. Gotta put some more time into Warhawk, but I'll definitely be playing this one tonight.

I didn't think the uzi was awful, I prefer the regular pistol but you can make effective use of it for headshots because it shoots so fast, but you have to use all of the automatic weapons in controlled bursts, that's when they become alot more effective.

I'm loving it so far, even if I'm only using a damn SCART at the moment. Can't find an HDMI cable anywhere, guess I'll have to try Currys. Has anyone noticed that it can sometime take AGES for the textures to load in? Like, easily, 10 seconds?

How come that was never mentioned? ¬_¬
Is it just start of level or does it continuously pop-up as you walk through areas?
Jay Gee
12-27-2007, 03:30 PM
I've seen it mostly at the start of a level, or when you get to a big place that's full of textures. Once they've loaded, I've never seen them re-load afterwards.
Zer0-Sum
12-27-2007, 03:34 PM
That texture prob is a weird issue. I have never seen it and I have been play this game non-stop for a while now.
Anyways, I love how challenging but fun this game is. Some times it is over whelming, but even then it is still very fun. The AI is pretty smart as far as video games go. I am in the Fortress now just before i find that girl again, if i do in fact find her. That camera chick is crazy and is gonna get herself killed.
dnpmakkah
12-27-2007, 03:39 PM
The texture loading is only at the start of levels and for me I only noticed it during certain levels but not all. Take the demo for example. In the game when you reach that level and Drake drops to the ground from the parachute it takes a few seconds to load the textures. Honestly though even without the textures the game looks better than most out there.

I think the controls in this game are funky. Aiming from cover pisses me off sometimes
I'm at 55% and I'm still trying to get the hang of the game.
it is very challenging but some of the challenge comes from the controls not being as fluid as I would like. I still have trouble using grenades, although I'm getting better.
Honestly sometimes I enjoy the game, other times I'm yelling at the tv screaming WTF was that crap all about.
The game might be much better the 2nbd time through. It takes much of the 1st time through to just get the rythm and intracacies. down
.

12-27-2007, 04:29 PM
i sat and watched Cliffbo's nephew play this the other day and couldn't stop watching till he'd completed it! absolutely sublime, although there are a few plot problems here and there. for instance, you open a secret door and what do you know?! more pirates down there already! then you open another secret door... and guess what... more pirates down there. how are they getting in? some secret!
PUNK em 733
12-27-2007, 05:57 PM
Come on now, they're pirates dude, wherever you are they'll find a way to be there.
Okay, so I've just completed this.
Graphics are absolutely amazing, truly a showcase for the PS3 and it looks fantastic in HD. As I mentioned before I found the fact that some textures take a while to come in and there is some odd moments whenever you pass though something which should be solid. Hardly enough to detract from the beauty of this game though.
The story feels very much a case of Good VS bad and it gives me a slightly nostalgic feeling as it seems as though it harks back to some movies I watched when I was a Child (Indiana Jones being the most obvious). The story is by no means breath taking but it pretty much grabs you by the balls and doesn't let go until the very end.
The music is amazing, especially the main theme, it's hugely stirring and suits the game extremely well. There's also a particular song which plays during combat which is very cool.
In terms of game mechanics it just feels right leaping from ledge to ledge, it's very satisfying. The best part, and by far the most fun I've had in a game in a while was, the water section whenever you use the Jetski to go upstream and use the Grenade launcher to take enemies out.
My only real gripe was the final boss, which I'll not speak about, since VG is still playing though this game as I type. Unless he's extremely quick with those nice hands of his. :)
Most importantly, this is a game that makes me feel like my PS3 purchase was worth it. It's the first dramatic, cinematic and epic game that has graced the console in my opinion.
Here's to Uncharted 2! :)

Anyway, the game is amazing. It would benefit from some HDD streaming, but it's really not a huge issue. Oh, and no problems with the controls here, they're perfect.

It does that long thing at the beginning where it loads for ages and the HDD light stays on the whole time.

IIRC, the directions they should face are written in the diary. You should turn them so they face the point on the compass written besides them in the diary.
That's the easiest puzzle. Ever. ;)
just write it.
i am out of my mind with this one.
i was rotating them that they look at the direction from compas.
i was rotating them to direction from the point i stand in front of them.
i have triend everything. everything besides the good one i suppose.

With all the statues facing in towards the compass - Turn the ox (Luke) 90* to the left, turn the lion (Mark) 90* to the right, turn the eagle (John) 180* and turn the angel (Matthew) 180* it should work.

Like God of War, Uncharted doesn't really venture off and do a bunch of new things, it just does what it does really well...
it's one of the more polished games you'll ever experience this year. It's pacing is spot on, music/art direction/control is good. But yeah, it's just a really well-built experience you sometimes forget your playing a game.
That's greatness right there. IMO, that's how Uncharted innovated the adventure genre, by raising the bar on established techniques.

I am sorry to have ever doubted VG and all the rest who suggested this game to me. I'm not regretting it!
FUCK it looks good, and plays just as good. I am a few chapters in and am raking in the headshots, around about 1/2 my kills are headshots and improving! The cover system is brilliant and the way he stumbled around in certain terrain brings out some of the best animation i've seen. Period. This game is AWESOME. The voice acting reminds me of indiana with the wise cracks and well timed dialogue that draws a connection to the character. I also like the way the health system works and how when you wound a bad guy how he attempts to dodge the bullet or scrambles about in pain. The Lighting and textures are just sensational. Look, don't give a shit about crysis, this looks better to me, and plays a fuck load better.

I wouldn't call it perfect...Like the platforming is way too simple, you just press jump and Drake does everything for you almost but it feels good at least.
Other than that, it's pure fun fun fun.

As GamerTV said about the shooting/ covering system: Killswitch started it, Gears Of War made it work and Uncharted perfected it.

This is my absolute favorite game of 2007.
The game play is so unbelievably smooth, fast, fun and addictive. The graphics are breathtaking. The story is a refreshing reprieve from the bland narratives of most action/adventure games these days. I found myself actually caring if Nate, Elaine and Sully died.
The replay value is insane. I've beat it on Easy and Normal now, collected all of the treasures, done most of the medals criteria and am now just working on Hard and Crushing modes. Hard and Crushing modes really aren't that bad, but they do require that you plan everything out and make cover your best friend.
This game is just an amalgamation of tons of games and movies that I'm really into, which makes it that much better for me. To be honest, I didn't know if the game would be as great having played (to death) and loved the demo, but I was so wrong. This game is the closest thing I've played to an actual movie and one of my top experiences in my 15 years of playing games.

Beating hard gives you the medals for Easy and Normal as well, so I think you just have to beat Hard and Crushing.

Sucks, i should have started on hard too :/ I am like 70-something percent through now, past the part with the roman numerals maze. I got 100 headshots by episode 6 i think, hahaha, i love me some headshots. I have got most of the treasures, maybe get at least 40 or so by the end of my first play through, will go back and do hard and crushing after i do R:FOM on the hardest settings too.
In fact, the humble pm 9mm is still my favourite weapon in the game, i can pick headshots with it almost every time if i am calm, damn fine weapon that one. Why use a sniper or AK when you can get a headshot at 200 meters with a pistol?
masteratt
01-06-2008, 12:03 AM
Yep, pistol = Best at headshots.
I used AK because....Well it was fun lol
Oh it becomes handy at blind firing too.
Shotgun too but if you miss a blind fire with shotgun (high chance of this happening) and the guy flanks you, you are fucked.
My favourite weapons to use (based on 100% play through and the situatiopns you are put in):
AK47
Pistol
M4
Shotgun
And the rest like the grenade launcher, uzi, deagle.
They are fine weapons but they were hardly used since either they were useless or had very limited ammo.
Oh and Sixaxis grenading worked perfectly.
Don't think it added to the fun or accuracy factor but it's nice to see Sixaxis being used for something :p
Ugh damn it I'm so tempted to steal a copy from work!
MUST.....HAAAVVE.....

Steal it. Steal it now. Steal it good.
The desert eagle/uzi etc are really dumb weapons IMO, you use it for one round and it's dry. But if you always have a good ol' 9mm on you, you can go the entire game and never run out of ammo too many times.
I finished the game about 10 minutes ago on medium, going to go back on hard and crushing soon. I collected 41 or 42 treasures the first play through and got almost all medals. The ending was *gasp* A REAL ENDING!!! With unexpected twists and turns to make you reflect upon the game in a positive light. I was half expecting a dirty sex scene in the heavy rain, but CGI porn is a bit icky ;)

42 treasures?
Sony must have sensed that I was awesome and sent me the copy with 60 treasures.
Or I'm just blind but I'm sure it said [??] out of 60 treasures found.
Garfunkel
01-06-2008, 04:34 AM
You jus have to sense which way is the right way...then take the other one. Also, the treasure seems to be placed in a pattern. Every section has around about 3 treasures, each within about 5-8 minutes of play time between them. You also just have to look carefully for the shine in bright areas where you wouldn't be able to see it clearly. I have started playing the game on hard now and already got a few more in the early parts, some realllllly well hidden ones too. I've got nearly 50 :) I WILL NOT REST TILL I GET EVERY ONE OF THOSE GOD DAMN TREASURES.

Oh I horribly misread your last post.
I thought you said 41 of 42 but you said 41 or 42.
My bad.
Thanks for the tips though.
I didn't enjoy treasure hunting so i'm just playing on Hard normally, just a tiny wee bit more searching but that's all.

Yeah, on hard you really have to use cover a hell of a lot, 2 or three shots and you are down for ever.

Sephiroth_VII

There are 61 treasures, actuall. The Strange Relic isn't counted, but it hads to be found just like a treasure.
Kep tryingl, I died there a lot too. Jump when you've almpost swung all the way oover, and be just below the middle of the vine.
That's the best advice I can give you. Took me 20-30 tries the first time, but did itin 1 the second, on Crushing.

I beat it on medium last week. I let my cousin beat it on hard last week too. but he only started out when I was. I think half way in the game. So I'm still going to beat it on hard then on crushing.
I couldn't play at all these last few day. I got real sick.

Great comment, and one of the best reviews so far:
http://cad-comic.com/comics/20080109.jpg
So I've been playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and true to my word, I bring you my impressions. To sum it up, this is one of the best games I have played in the last few months. And not just the best PS3 game, because let's face it, that wouldn't be saying much at all. No, this is one of the best games I've played in the last few months on any system, and that company includes Bioshock, Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect.
I'll get to the "finally, PS3 gets a great title" part of this is a second, but I want to talk about the game itself first. I think the best way to describe it would be to say... that it is like playing a movie. As far as I'm concerned, this game at least, if no other, disproves the idea that video games cannot be written and acted to the same level of television and film.
The voice acting for these characters is some of the best I have ever heard in a video game, and that's what grabs you right out of the gate, the sheer character of these... well, characters. It also doesn't hurt that (at least to me) Nathan Drake sounds eerily like Nathan Fillion (but it isn't his voice). Also, it may just be me, but I think Sully looks an awful lot like Paul Newman. All I can think of when I see him is Fast Eddie. Though he also has a little bit of young Marlon Brando to him as well.
This is the opening scene of the game, so there are no spoilers here. It gives a pretty good idea of the caliber of voice acting (and movie style feel) you can expect throughout the game (video quality is kind of crap, the first 10 seconds especially, but it's the only thing I could find)
That's all in-game graphics by the way (I think... if they're not, the actual gameplay looks so damned good I can't tell the difference). Second cut scene is here, if you're curious for more.
Basically you play as Nathan Drake, a descendant of Sir Francis Drake, on a hunt for big treasure. It's a lot of pulp action/adventure with tomb-raiding, vine-swinging, cliff-scaling, modern pirate-fighting alongside your sassy female reporter tag-along, and your older partner who owes money to all the wrong people. Not a lot that you haven't seen before, if you enjoy action/adventure movies in the vein of Indiana Jones. However the execution of all of these elements is so masterfully done, you'll end up getting sucked into and enjoying the story just as much as an Indiana Jones flick (not counting the new one, since we have no idea yet, but I hope it measures up).
And dare I say it... this game may just be a better tomb raider than Tomb Raider. Which goes to show that crypt-crawling and treasure hunting can be fun without big hooters. Though on an interesting note, I seem to have been conditioned by years of gaming to always expect the "surprise attack" when I'm crawling around in the dark ruins of a long dead civilization. So it was throwing me off quite a bit, as I was expecting all of these skeletons lying around to leap out at me. I found myself jumping and shooting a lot of "just to be sure" bullets for a while there. However Uncharted is not that kind of game, and is (so far) rooted mostly in reality. So aside from the present-day pirates hunting the same treasure you are, your number one foe becomes the environment itself, and Uncharted handles it well. It's a lot of platforming and leaping from ledge to ledge, but controls are nice and responsive, so I haven't encountered any of those frustrating platforming moments we're all familiar with.
If you have a PS3, and you don't own this game, I don't know what the hell you spent $600 for. So far, this is the very first PS3 game that commands me to play it through to the end. The PS3 has had titles I enjoy, don't get me wrong. I liked Motorstorm, I liked Ratchet and Clank (though I haven't sat down to seriously play it yet, the first level did not grab me in the same way Uncharted did). The fact that the really good cross platform titles (Stranglehold, Orange Box) come to the PS3 literally months later doesn't help the system at all, but it wouldn't matter for me anyway. I like achievements, it's as simple as that. So my PS3 is all about the exclusives, and so I'm really psyched about actually getting some use out of the thing. Now just a few more games of this quality on the shelves and the PS3 might start shaking off that awful launch stigma.
In the end it's all about personal taste anyway. I mean I can tell you flat out right now that the PS3 will just never match my 360 for my attention. And it's not that one system is "better" than the other, or any fanboy horseshit like that, and it's not even the achievements. It's personal taste. What kind of personal taste? Well... the Xbox is an American system, and the PS3 is a Japanese system.
That's not an "Oh America is so great, Japan sucks" kind of statement, but there are some very stark cultural differences between America and Asia, and Microsoft puts out mostly American games, and a lot of Sony's games tend to come from Asian developers, and in the end I tend to prefer games that are of American (or English) origin, for a variety of reasons.
For instance, there is a gigantic difference between American RPGs and Japanese RPG's. I prefer the western take on RPGs: Lots of character customization and personal identity, very open worlds, and most often real-time combat. On the flip side Asian RPGs tend to stick you with some very stylized characters, often the same ones over and over again, and if they do give you a character creator, there are very few options. The worlds are usually chock full of invisible barriers (stay on that road, you can't go on the grass, for some reason) that keep you on a very linear path. Turn-based combat... well, it's not the worst, but I just don't prefer it.
Our two cultures just have a lot of differences and that makes its way into our video games and the emphasis on certain features over others. Of course I'm not saying that I've never enjoyed a game from Japan, because that's just ridiculous. But there are certain elements of Asian games that have no appeal to me. I don't like Final Fantasy for all of the reasons listed above. Dynasty Warriors and similar games where it's just grind, grind, grind, then grind some more are another example. Ten minutes or so of your one dude wiping out whole armies is pretty neat, but soon realize that's all the game is, for eight to ten hours, and there's just no interest for me there.
Poor translations and voice acting is another killer of Asian imports for me. Folklore on the PS3 is a prime example of this. I thought it was a really interesting game, and it clearly had a neat atmosphere and story going for it. I couldn't handle the horrible translations and voice acting. You could just tell something got lost on the trip overseas.
The PS3 has a lot going for it, if it can just get some of their hyped game actually, you know, out. Metal Gear Solid will probably sell a few systems. Home and Little Big Planet (which is now due in September if you hadn't hear *grumble grumble*) would go a long way to competing with the community aspect of Xbox Live.
When I play a game like Uncharted, it reminds me that the PS3 most definitely is capable of being a next-gen system. It's easy to forget about it when week after week there are no games coming out for it that I want. But I would love to see them pull out of their slump and turn things around. Who knows, maybe 2008 will be their year.

yeah it really wasn't a bad write up...it's funny, I'm completely opposite than him tho. For me, I think the big open-worlds get boring after a while without compelling stories, I don't like the space/marine/star Warsy type games that a lot of western developers use, and I'm drawn to Japanese style RPG's a lot quicker than western for the most part.
Just a bunch of opinions really. Bottom line--he plays a lot of games on his X360 but Uncharted is one game on PS3 that's worth buying the system for.

Summary... Uncharted is the best game ever.
Finally! I had the time to beat Uncharted. According to the game, it took me over 10 hours to finish the game on normal difficulty and finding 41 out of 60 treasures. However, I'm aware that I've been playing more than 10 hours with it, as I died many times.
What can I say? The sharpest game I've ever seen, some of the best in-game animations, OKish storyline, boring extras (at least the ones unlocked on normal difficulty) and I'm willing to play it again, but I think Uncharted is hardly the best game we'll ever see on PS3. It has set the bar really high though, at least technically.

Uncharted reaches a million sales worldwide

We're not strong followers of VG Chartz (mostly because we don't really care), but it came to our attention that they are reporting that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has now sold over one million copies. Great news! Uncharted is arguably the greatest PS3 exclusive available and deserves to be played by as many people as possible.
Of course, this also means that PS3 owners have actually been buying games. Keep it up! The PS3 can only become more attractive as a development opportunity in the future. Especially with people rewarding excellent gameplay experiences with decent sales, as seems to have been the case with Uncharted.

to me this whole idea of judging a game on how it sells in the first week is a tad erroneous. you can spend a ton of money generating hype and hit the street running, and so sell through quickly, or you can generate interest and let word of mouth push the sales up gradually over a longer period of time (which incidentally has the advantage of keeping the game current even months after it has been released)

About foreign language in Uncharted, its Indonesian language
I will translate it
Buka Pintu - Open the door
Siapa ini, bicara sekarang. - Who is this, talk now.
Sialan lo, cepetan buka pintunya - Damn you, hurry up open the door
Tai - Shit
Oh, nice. I had no idea it was Indonesian, probably nobody here did.
I wonder when we'll see the first Platinum edition PS3 games. There are several million sellers already. Resistance and MotorStorm will surely be the first ones, and probably Uncharted by the end of the year as well.

I think it would be huge for Sony if they kept Platinum's at $20 a pop. The majority of their games that are million sellers are already first or second party, so the $10 isn't a huge deal. I never understood why all games have to be $10 more this gen in the first place, but beating 360 by $10 for the best games could be an advantage. They already sell All Pro Football 2k8 for $20 at Best Buy...

Pah... You are lucky... we pay MSRP prices of 70€ a pop in Europe per game... And (PS2) platinums cost you 30€ (usually)...
I refuse buying games at full price and usually import them, as it is about 15€ cheaper than getting them here.
But, those platinums usually come only a year later than the original release (I think it was 9 months when PS2 was around)

Maybe in a year or two I'll pick this game up again for a play through or i may just buy it when it becomes a greatesst hit. The shooting was a lot of fun the characters were fun and humorous. I thought Drake could've been a bit more humorous because he has that kind of swagger, but overall he was a fun character to run the game. I'm glad I picked this as a rental. It took me approximately 9 hours to complete. I don't think I found all the treasure, but oh well.

Hope you guys like the DJ Shadow Mix.

The song is sweet, and it's got some cool parts, but I personally would have liked it to be more of a trailer and less like a slide show with still pictures... the Massive Attack one is still my favorite but props to them for using some really cool songs in both these trailers.

Alright, so I'm replaying this game on Easy, attempting to speedrun it, with fast motion, one-shot-kills, infinite ammo, uzi and m79. My best time that I've achieved is 2 hours and 20 minutes.. It seems though, that the game is making it impossible to run it any faster...
What I mean by this is that the game will find any excuse to kill me so that I can't progress past certain areas the first time through.. For example, I've found that in certain areas like when you first encounter the m79 soldier, if you succeed in killing all the enemies in quick succession, the game switches to Crushing mode and the remaining enemies NEVER miss leading to a quick death. It happens in many other places as well, forcing you to play through it a few more times..
In some of the acrobatic areas, such as the beginning of the Fortress level, running through will always result in at least one fall if not three of four... Nate simply doesn't grab the ledge and kills himself..
What I'm wondering, if any of you have any inside information about the game.. Does it have scaling difficulty? Is it a matter of the game needing more time to stream from the disc, and therefore FORCING you to slow down while it loads? Would fast motion cause ledge traversal to load inefficiently?
And in conclusion, what are your best times? Has anyone managed to beat this in under two hours? If so, HOW!?!?!?!
I don't know if anyone will read this long torrent of info, it's half rant..
Thanks.

Afaik, it was supposed to be a scaling difficulty, but it was toned to a choosable difficutly for "mainstreams" sake.
Maybe there's some leftover code
(Disclaimer: I am quite drunk :P)

I'm playing this game on crushing now. AI reacts a little differently than before so it's taken me a while to adjust. I still die a shit load of times in certain gun fights, the gun fight in the sewer being the hardest fight so far.
I still haven't found all the treasure I need to find about 4 or 5 more pieces.

By the sewer, I assume you mean the part after you take out the turret in that narrow hallway, and then drop down into the sewer and Drake says something to the effect of "Where did these guys come from?" If so, I had a great deal of difficulty with this part as well. I replayed it a ton of times and formulated a strategy that works every time..
First, after you drop down, take cover behind the wall right in front of you. Then, immediately take out the guys on the high platforms, there's one to the slight left and one at the far end at your final destination. After you take them out, concentrate on the guys trying to flank you to the left. If you have grenades, now is the best time to use them. When your done with them, take out whoever is in front of your barricade.. Then run as quickly as you can to the left side of the room and take cover behind one of the barricades back there, preferably the one closest to the South wall. More enemies will drop down from the East wall, and now you have the advantage and can take them out at your leisure. More will drop down from where you first entered the area after that. Take them out and you should be golden..
Let me know if that helps.
