Here's another snafu...I tried hooking it up to a Samsung 720p HDTV, and I was using the s-video connection. I was in the display settings, and I checked off 720p, and 1080i, then unchecked 1080i and it wento to a TV message saing S-video check cable signal. Now that's I'm trying to hook it up back to mt SD tv via composite, I get audio, but no video.

Anyway I can "reset" the PS3? Thanks.

Apparantly holding the power button down for longer than normal resets the settings (never tried it)...

First off, 720p can't run through S-video. Component is the lowest quality cable you can use for HD anything. As for a factory settings reset, check the manual.

Just hold the power button during the entire boot process; should take about five seconds - you will hear a beep and all factory default settings will be restored.

why did you use s-video for? only supports 480i.

Quick to put the blame on Sony it seems.

Yes, holding down the reset button when starting until you hear the second beep does reset the systems default setting.

*Which I had to figure out when over at the family's house for X-Mas*

"With all that power, you have to ask yourself... Is the Cell processor smarter than you?"

*think I remembered that classic line right...*

They dont have an option for you to change the settings other than resetting the system? weak

or you can just switch it back before you unhook from a HD set.

I will get a hdmi cable soon, I only had an S-vid connection, and wanted to try it out as all I usually use is a composite. I had no idea about s-vid no supporting 720p.

I'm getting a 32" Sharp Aquos soon, the Samsung is my brother's.

The thread title "PS3 Blunder" should be replaced. Perhaps "User Error" would be a more accurate title.

You know that boring looking think that looks like a book that comes with your PS3?

It's called a Users Manual which if read with care will tell you everything your PS3 is capable of.

I'm sure someone will get on that right away.

I read the manual, and unless I missed it there was nothing about my problem.
