I don't want to even explain it to you with all your negativity and skeptism. Do you really think you should come to a Nintendo board and say something like this and actually expect a reply? I mean there are better ways to approach things IMO and this was a terrible approach.

It's motion controller and knows where it is in 3D space. It also functions as a high performance pointer (think duck hunt, but 1337er) and has rumble and it's own little speaker. (example: Pump action shotgun, you use the remote as the fore end and the speaker goes "Chick Chuck!")
It also comes with the "nunchuck" which is a one handed device with the control stick and 2 extra buttons (Z and C) and can also do the motion detection thing, but doesn't do the pointer or rumble.
It pretty much means that you now interact directly with the game. What you do off screen reflects your movements on screen. Madden, for example, now you actually play with an imaginary ball. Catching, throwing punting, juking, etc.

thats pretty interesting. so its kinda like a magic wand, move it around and shit happends. that link you provided had a pic on it where you can hookup a reg controller to it. so is there only certain games you can play with that magic wand and with the reg controller? are there any videos where i can see the magic wand in action?

so this thing uses 2 AA batterys for power and last 30-60hrs depending how you use it. dont ya think thats kinda of a waste? gotta keep changing batterys. unless you get rechargeables.
Nintendo of America's Senior Director of Public Relations, Beth Llewelyn, has stated that Nintendo "hasn't quite figured out what to do about power for the Remotes
also, you would think that they would have figured that out before they came out with that magic wand.

I don't know, don't you think it's kinda on the same level as wireless mice then? I mean I use rechargables for all the stuff I have to swap on any kind of regular basis now. My mouse, the Wavebird controller, CD player.

You can use the 'classic' controller OR your existing Gamecube control pads. (Smash brother wii has been confirmed to use the GC controllers)
And I agree about the batteries, it's gay.

It's a veteran thing. You don't go complaining to a WW2/Vietnam veteran about how much war sucks now, or you don't talk back to them. It's seniority. Show some respect! ;) (although it did come as kinda rude, SW *shakes finger at SW*)
Anyways, to the topic, most Wii games will use the Wiimote (coined by IGN, I believe) as the main control scheme. Some games will use the Classic Controller/GCN controller, because the scheme would be screwed up the ass if it were the Wiimote (for instance, SSBB for Wii will use the Classic controller and GCN controller, because it would suck for the Wiimote configuration).
What game I'm most hyped for the Wii right now is Red Steel. It's a FPS with killer apps! :) You can use a large variety of guns, grenades (you actually chuck them!), and a katana to kill the baddies of the Tokyo streets! *total reservationnessicity*

hey I do apologize if you were just joking around and what not, but with all the people I know on forums and in life always bashing this system I just kinda snap. Ya know what I mean? Sorry about that, but that's how I get sometimes too.

Nintendo also claimed 90-100 hours with the Wavebird. I've had mine 3 years and replaced the batteries once. But if it worries you that much...

It's a charger for the Wiimote by Madcatz. Nintendo will probably eventually make one too though.
Honestly, I've known SW from way back (or at least recognize him), but I don't normally care about who joined when. Not to put down SW, so don't take it that way. But I don't think it should make that much difference. I think all good members should be respected, Bsack included.

That dosen't mean he is exempt from trying to be courteous...
Anyway... I didn't take much offense.... I just thought it was more of a joke considering I didn't think anyone on these forums actually didn't know yet.

Anyways, no hard feelings Bsack, I just have trouble not defending the vets (and especially former admins who helped build these forums and keep them alive ). If it weren't for SW and other vets, these forums might not be here today.
But back on topic:
The controller just offers a new innovative way to play games. There are many applications for gameplay... for FPS just point at the screen and shoot which if applied correctly, is much more viable than dual-analog control. Its basically alot more immersive.

Hey no problem dude because I can see where you're coming from. It was my ignorance to his reputation, so obviously I see I was wrong in jumping to conclusions. I just can't help but defend this system because of all its awesomeness. Ya see what i mean?
NOw the controller offers so many different ways to look at playing video games it's just exciting to think about. I honestly can't express how well first person shooter games are going to turn out.
