I've been looking around for a TV, And I'm pretty good with resolutions and all, but I'm still learning about upscaling and stuff like that.
Well, alot lately, I've been seeing TVs with resolutions of 1633(I think...It ends with a 33 or a 66)x768.
Now, would that distort the image to badly if I was running in 720P? I'm just trying to get a good TV and don't wanna get home, and have a sub-par one:(.
On that note, anyone know a good TV under 1K? Suggestions welcome.
Thanks.
Well, alot lately, I've been seeing TVs with resolutions of 1633(I think...It ends with a 33 or a 66)x768.1366x768, although in practice it's 1360x768. I wonder why.
Now, would that distort the image to badly if I was running in 720P?Not at all, since 1280x720 and 1360x768 have the same 16:9 proportion. I have one myself, so don't worry about this. Just pay attention to other specs like response time (8 ms or less), dynamic contrast ratio (don't even consider less than 1000:1), etc.

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't to sure about that, and figured I would get the clear on it before I jumped the gun and purchased it.
If you don't mind me asking, what TV do you have? Anything you would suggest within a $1k Price range?

Have a look in my HD Resolutions thread, you may find some useful information in there as many have asked similar questions. I will update the main post soon with all sorts of new information such as contrast ratios, resolutions for individual TV types, etc.

you should be able to get this cheaper in stores but retail here is $1k and it has some of the best picture quality on the market.

I've been seriously considering a TV from Westinghouse. They seem to give you a lot of bang for your buck. This one in particular is what I have my eye on:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1134703181662&type=product&skuId=7679951
They also have some affordable 1080p HDTVs, but none for under 1k I'm afraid.

^I've heard a lot of good word about them. However, it seems the Bravias take the cake in the TV market.

lol, not me! The closest to HD I got now is my 1680x1050 PC monitor. I'll be running the PS3 on it until I can afford something better.

1280x1024 is the hishest resolution my monitor can go and it has a DVI cable....So does it mean it can run 720p with the PS3?
Maybe 1080?? :shifty:

Try to crank your PC to 1920x1080 res and see what happens. 720p will work though.

Cool, cool. 720p will be good enough for a year or so.
