What is it with EGM and they're harsh ass reviews and rude replies to peoples' letters?! I mean they gave LocoRoco a 6.0, 8.5, 8.5...that's kind of good but what's up with the 6.0?!! Does a game have to be 100% perfect or they don't like it?! Who here also doesn't like EGM anymore?
Yeah, they're full of shit. Thier mailbag section is fucking trash and they don't know how to review games.

i dont like their mailbags at all. They dont even answer questions. They always just put stupid letters out that do make me laugh every now and then, but it gets old.
I like how they let 3 people review the games, but there is no possible way you can review a game in 2 paragraphs. thats kinda lame.
I get it for free though, so i shouldnt be complaining.

They only give the biggest games a decent amount of space and they give a dick response to every letter they get.

As do I, but I wouldn't pay for that rag....forget it....
I do like that they have 3 people review games though, gives much better perspective.

I like EGM. I know they don't really answer letters properly, but it is often funny, and most people don't read the letters section of gaming magazines just to read serious responsed to questions they already know the answer to. Heck, for all we know, they mail back the writers with a real answer and just print what is more fun to read. And their reviews are harsh, yes. But as long as it's across the board (which it is, except for the "automatic-10 or fanboys will instantly cancel subscription" games like Halo), it's a heck of a lot better than reviews that aren't harsh enough.

I like how they have multiple people reviewing games. Although alot of the time the reviews are uninformative and they dont really give alot of detail on the actual game.

Their reviews are really bad. I have seen them rate games low because they were too hard so many times... Plus, they gave Suikoden V bad scored. Fuck them.
Some of their articles are interesting though. As long as it's nothing too subjective, I enjoy their other stuff.

Yeah for some reason my free subscription expired like in March and last week I got 2 issues in the mail but I never re-subscribed because that was when they started turning crap, it's weird. Then today I got the latest issue. They must be hurting because they're giving issues out to people for free!!!

Yeah they probably do do that because my letter to gamerevolution was in their latest mailbag for August and they replied nicely but then their response on the site was funnier and different, but, people don't know that!!! They shouldn't be so damn rude!
Someone submitted a letter about the guy sitting on the toilet wanking to Rumble Roses XX pics in EGM #204. She said that it was gross and unncessary (which it is I mean c'mon the picture was 2 pages big!!!). Then in the August issue she sent another letter saying that their response to THAT letter was unncessary and offended her, and in that same issue they had a preview of Kingdom Hearts II and she made a good point as to say that it's Disney and kids like Disney and the parents pick up the mag and see a pic of some guy wanking off to Rumble Roses to find that they're going to flip. Then, this was their crappy ass response and was just very mean.
"Sweet, sweet Jenny. Don't complain when the media doesn't make a good baby-sitter. Raise your own children. Meanwhile, just for reference, here's that awesome pic again at the bottom of the page"
They said that because they know they were wrong. I mean that isn't even funny! It's an asswipe! I think I should use EGM's mags as toilet paper!

Yeah, the issue with that letter was pretty wrong in general...

Print magazines pertty much suck by default. There's nothing like reading month-and-a-half old news, WITH a subscription.

I did laugh my ass off though to one their responses in the newest magazine.
Some kid thats 12 years old writes them a letter about they should make more violent games with bad language and gore but keep the sex and drugs out. Apparently his parents wont let him play a game with drugs or sex in them, but he can play stuff that is rated M if it doesnt have sex or drugs.
The response?
You and the guy who wrote our first letter should collaborate on a game about beating up chronic masturbators.
The final boss: yourselves.
Is it wrong that i laughed?

EGM was really good around the same time NGPC was around. They gave nearly every NGPC game at least an 8.0. :)

I don't read VG magazines aside from Nintendo Power and Game Informer (both of which I get as a side effect buying other things).

I used to get GI but they give like EVERY game a good review no matter what. Being optimistic about games isn't a bad thing but sometimes they are just too nice, and I don't get Nintendo Power. My EGM subscription got renewed due to renewing my GameCrazy MVP. Another year of bad reviews (yet the latest issue they are pretty good with reviews) and mean mailbags.

I personaly like the multi person review . Just not in magazine format .
What is great about a multi person review on a website is they can dedicate a few web pages of it per person . That way you get a few diffrent peoples opinions on a game.

The 3 person reviews are good I'm not saying the 3 person concept is bad I'm saying they're too harsh on the little guys! The mailbag is pretty mean sometimes I've even been offended by some of their replies.

I found the preteen writing in about his idea for a breaking-and-entering game disturbing. I hope that kid gets help before he grows up to be a rapist or something...

I know Phoenix same here! That kid needs some serious help...he's the type Thompson should be after! @gljvd I HATE G4tv!! They took all the good shows away (Filter, Judgement Day, Electronic Playground, they crapped up Attack of the Show) and gave us the Man Show and Star Trek and that stupid street racing car show thing!! It's so gay now I don't know why Kevin Perrera is still there! They also sold that one show to Gamespot I forgot the name it's slipped my mind...
