A couple of months back i was shopping the bargain rack at Best Buy and came across a 2-pack of games for $1.98. One was Shogun and the other was Septerra Core. I didn't really think they would be great but I figred they would be worth $0.99 each. Imagine my surprise...
Septerra Core: Legacy of The Creator is an RPG in similar style
I installed Septerra Core and after watching the lengthy FMV intro (doesn't look quite as good as today's stuff but it is pretty old) I started my game. It starts out kind of slow but as you start leveling up and gain new abilities, purchase new armor and weapons and get new members in your party it quickly becomes an addiction. Nine characters total each with VERY different abilities, and added to that you can gain certain "cards" (Everything from your basic Heal and curse to elemental stuff to Mirror cards). This isn't too exciting in itself untilo you start to be able to combine them into monstrous specials. For Example:
Fire Card = Hell Blast
Fire Card+Summon Card = Summon Fire God
Fire Card+Barrier Card = Barrier against Fire attacks
There are dozens of combinations and it gets really intense as the game goes on. The only bad thing about the game is the number of enormous labrynths (Wind City Catacombs in later levels being by far the worst) where you must throw a certain set of switches scattered out amongst a HUGE map in a certain combination, find one relic or card then do it in reverse. It can get frustrating but it's very fulfilling when you figure out something after being stuff for three days. if you haven't gotten it yet check best Buy and see if they still have it, you'll be glad you did. I have over 75 hours in the game and am on the last battleship. I could have another 5 hours in side quests but I want to see the ending. Check it out!
