The system looks sexy. They just need to improve the design on the classic form of the controller. Looks kind of bulky...I could be wrong.

Yeah, I am not in love with the classic controller... and it hooking up to the regular one... do I have three hands now? I am just curious how that is going to work. Noiiice pictures though. It is quite the sexy little beast. That and I hope they give you the option to turn off the blue light on the disk slot. It's nice, but it could be a little distracting at night with the lights off, or if I am watching a movie on it.

So thats what the sensor bar looks like. I hadnt seen it before. Is that one stuck under the bottom of the TV? Im sure there are more than a few people worried about whether or not they can sit that thing down somewhere. Or maybe no one except me has thought of it.

It's pretty sexy how the Wii disc goes into the light. I prefer the top to open for the GCN games so you can fit the disc like the GCN, Saturn, and DC. I just thought that was cool. I was never a fan of the slide out tray, although the PSX was ugly. I know the slide out was done for convenience. It's just that they die pretty fast.

I dont think its tray loaded anyway- it looks like the kind of self loading that car cd players use.

We'll find out for certain in a few months, but we know it'll be within the last quarter of 2006, and different sources have it in either early November or late October.

Im sure there are more than a few people worried about whether or not they can sit that thing down somewhere. Or maybe no one except me has thought of it.not to worry it can go on top of the TV if you dont want to put it underneath. i imagine all you have to do is set up the Wii to know where you put it in relation to your TV.
probably may not even need to do that as you could set it somewhere then when you calibrate it, it senses where you are pointing in relation to it.
Whoa, is that an Actel logic chip in the Wii-mote?probably.
for those of use who don't know:
Logic Chip – A logic chip is an Inegrated Circuit containing logic elements and the connections between them which manipulate binary digits to perform logical and arithmetic functions. An important type of logic chip is a "microprocessor".
sounds like having one in the Wii-mote would save the Wii from having perform some functions giving it more freedom to work with other areas.
i'm guessing that Nintendo decided to make Wii efficient instead of super powerful. having a logic chip in the Wii-mote could possibly go along that road of efficiency.
i wouldnt be surprised if the efficiency of the Wii would lead to not only better graphics but better physics and shorter loading times. probably other things but i cant think of anything more right now.
keep in mind this is me just guessing stuff. i am in no way an expert in these matters.
Damn this... I feel in love with the Gamecube for it's looks, too. Than in one magazine I saw them rate the PS2 as an "A", GBA "A", Xbox "B-", and the Gamecube as a F^ç|<3ñ "D" (I haven't seen these low grades since I looked at my report card). The ONLY time I will like a next gen console... Is when it makes the games I LIKE. Until then... I hate them all :)

I'm thinking that the classic controller is simply plugged into the wiimote as a power source as the only other input would be for the gamecube controllers. Plus this keeps the controller wireless, essentially.

I seem to have missed this last night but want to touch on it a bit. I have previously wondered about this, myself, and I felt it would be lame to have the Wiimote just laying in our lap while we're using the classic controller. However, I've read in various places that there is a clip on the back of the classic controller presumably for attaching the Wiimote to the back of it.

There's no doubt about it. The Wii is one sexy peice of hardware ... I feel extremely dirty after saying that. *shrugs*
They could do something about the powercord though. I'm not liking it very much, it's rather bulky and unappealing in comparison to the rest of the machine.
Yeah, the idea is not to hold the Wiimote in your hand WHILE playing with the classic controller. This way the controller has power and is functionally wireless.
And yeah, the drive is self-loading. Jeez, guys, this was like the first thing we learned about the hardware itself (except that it was the size of 3 DVD cases).
Are you guys saying nice things about the Wii cause it looks like the Ipod ?

We saw different colored controllers way back, I hope they release Wii in a bunch of different colors. As an anti-Ipod (too trendy for me) guy, I loathe the podization of all things electronics.
Sadly, I doubt that will happen at launch, when I'm planning on getting my Wii, so I'll probably just have to live with boring white.
I don't get this whole "sexy" thing either. I know you're not literally saying that it's sexy, but it still is slightly disturbing to me. To each his (or her) own though.

Wii doesn't.

I think the Wii looks the best of all three of the consoles...a year ago, I was the exact opposite. Today though, compared to the behemoth size of the PS3, it looks amazing.
As an anti-Ipod (too trendy for me) guy,
AMEN !!!! You see them every where, spinning their little wheels thinking they own God. I just don't get whats sooo special about an Ipod. My friend has a Sony MP3 player thats half the size of an Ipod, and plays Great. I own a creative slim muvo. I can change song without even taking the player out. That rocks.

yep - you said it
EDIT:
Oh an i think the Wii is covered in a "DS Lite/Ipod" Reflective thing, i remember reading some preview somewhere about it from this E3 and they made the mention of that.
I personally could care less - The system is aesthetic and doesnt look clunky like the Gamecube...
Same with Xbox 360, Microsoft learned how made something look nice after the black clunk that was the Xbox.

Well, in anycase... I hope not.First, I LOL'D. Secondly, I've seen some pictures where the Wiimote is the wireless adapter for the Classic controller. It's attached via a cord to a Wiimore on the floor.

Sorry, I was speaking generally, not to you in particular.
Viral Mutation - If you don't think that the Wii and the DS Lite designs were heavily influenced by the ipod, you're crazy.
It does not look bad (by any means.) I just dislike how we went from a nice black color to "white-like-everything-else."
I wonder a little about the "normal" controller attachment too. Having a wire hanging to the wiimote kind of defeats the purpose of "wireless." But the wiimote's light as a feather, right? We might not even notice if it's hooked on the back as in the picture. Any comment from someone who's held a wiimote before?

But I do know what you mean, black is more desirable, IMO.

I don't have any beef with the looks of the PS3 or the 360, but I personally feel that the Wii is the best-looking of the three, as well. That's terrific following a predecessor that looked like a purple lunchbox. (I didn't care what the GameCube looked like, but a lot of folks did.)

Remember back when all white appliances belonged in the kitchen? :) Pod-Purists would say that Apple did not invent white, but it did perfect it. Though the trendiness of the Pod-White does bug me, what REALLY bugs me is that companies think all consumers want is Appley looking stuff. And it really bugs me EVEN MORE when they're right. :)

yeah, iwata said way back when that it could play DVDs, but only with an extra dongle.

i havent read anything about DVD player out of the box being announced. so all i know so far is it needs an extra dongle.
what i heard is the dongle is there so that we pay for the licence to use it as a player. which isnt bad considering that instead of charging everyone for it they only charge the people who want to use it. with that said though it wouldnt be much extra on top of the console price if it was out of the box.
i'll probably use mine as a dvd player. i watch my dvds using my computer. i'd like to watch them without having to turn my computer on because its just too noisy.
