Half Life 2 story

When I first played HL2, the story was a confusing confusing and I assume its because I never played pt.1. Do I need to know the story of pt.1 to understand HL2 and the upcoming episodes? Plus, where can I get an overview of the game? :smile:

I know there are sites that cover the whole storyline, I think on the Half-Life 2: Episode One there is a brief outline. The main thing is that the story tends to be specualtion on the gamers part. On most Half-Life 2 sites, their forums are generally filled with specualtion of the story and about certain events.

I don't think you need to play one for the most part to pick up on 2, but there are some things from 1 you should know as it would make it easier to understand 2, as well as help you pick up on some little things in 2.

As for a synopsis, I'd check GameFAQs, you can usually find somebody's cliffnotes of game storylines there.

^^^ Ditto I just finished HL 2 like an hour ago and I was a bit confused. I never completely finished HL 1 because I lost my save 3 times in a row in the same spot. The first time on the PS2 then twice on the PC. So after beating HL2 and before buying Episode 1 on Friday I read that guide and it helped A LOT!
