Probably, I would think he means that by the time you purchase a couple of games, an extra controller, and any sort of "extra" for the system that after taxes you are going to be paying quite a bit more than 399.

However, I have also read that some stores at certain points in the past were refusing to sell individual consoles and were forcing bundles on people which boosted the price tremendously.

I think that's exactly his point - but I mean, so let's say that the average 'pay to play' price of the 360 is $650 like Jax is saying. I mean, are we still viewing the PS3 price at $600? In the same world that $400 can become $650, $600 will become $850 - believe me.

But on the point that a console can not be purchased today at it's retail price, that is simply not true. I could go out and get one today.

Or obviously, order one online.

i really don't understand the way these forums work. this is going to cause flaming and because its more emotive its pushing my original thread down called 'it is cheap' which was carefully worded to avoid that very thing.

This isn't going to cause flaming or anything else; I kept it open for this long such that Jax would feel that his issue was properly addressed. It will now be closed, and further discussion of the point can be taken up in the official 'complaint' thread currently stickied.

Cliffbo I agree that I think there are a couple of people who are confused as to how the forums work, and I plan on posting a general guide shortly. ;)

But yes, normally this thread would have been closed rather quickly - it's just I'd just come from closing a thread almost identical to it.

PS - It's ok if your threads get pushed 'down,' it's not a contest afterall to see who's threads can stay on top the longest. ;)

People were posting in this thread - including yourself - because they had something they wanted to say on the matter.
