Ive completley changed my mind as to what sony will have there. Being as devs will have final dev kits before e3 I believe there will be playable demos of Warhawk and Resistance there (behind closed doors.)

after hearing how great the GDC demos looked, I am really interested in seeing how Killzone looks. I don't know if they will even show it, but if they do, it would cause quite a stir whether the game actually looks better or worse.

If they don't show it, everyone will be stirring up shit, if they do show it, it'll either be as good or better, or not as good. If it's even slightly less impressive than last year's clip the peanut gallery will be going nuts.

I think everything will be revealed...except the price. and no, it won't be revealed on TGS. they will only give the prive one month before launch. they will have a special PS3 pre-launch event.

As in most things, we Euros get the short end of the console release stick. While the Japanese are waited upon hand and foot by their sexy robot butlers and while Americans play their 360s whilst munching on Freedom Fries, the stagnant and festering ruins of what once was European civilization must scavenge for technology amongst your first-world dregs. After the American and Japanese launches of new consoles, the European launch is usually a staccato of ploppings, like the last movements of Microsoft’s bowels after a particularly ponderous unloading. Not only that, but because these companies tend to think that the Euro maintains a magical equilibrium with the dollar, we end up paying twenty percent more. Man, Europe really did lose World War 2.

So as a European, I’ve been wondering how Sony intended to handle the European launch. Luckily, SCEE president David Reeves has stepped up to the plate with some answers.

“The US, Japan and Europe will be equally served,” Reeves claims. “It’s my job to make sure Europe gets equal billing. I can’t specify the numbers but we’ll work hard to ensure it is equal.”

Translation: with one million consoles available at launch world wide, no one’s going to be able to buy one. Distribution will be settled on the sole basis of most bitching blowjobs delivered to Sony execs.

Reeves further elaborated: “We’re delighted that it is out in November. I think the fact it is worldwide is good news for retail. And for our third party partners it is great timing before Christmas – in Europe specifically. Europe is on track and I think the third party publishers should recognise that. But as for us, we will have anything from four to six titles at launch, maybe more.”

Oooh. Four launch titles. Hope your Sinterklaas clog is big enough to hold them all, boys and girls!

nah, they announced ps2's price almost right away after unveiling. I expect E3.
that is because at that E3, PS2 already launched in japan (launched in March). they didn't reveal the price, nor gave out playable units and games until only 4 weeks before launch.

TGS 2006 starts in Sep. 22nd. they will either use that show as the pre-launch event, or they may wait another month and do it. I think they will go with the first. another 4 weeks aren't long enough to warrent expenses for a special event.

I think the price and inal launch line up will be announced at TGS. :)

In the newest episode (9th) of Kojima Productions Report, Kenichiro Imaizumi, the producer of MGS4, says that he is waiting for the right time to start playing FF XII because "right now they are very busy for making some stuff for the E3"

from about 7min 30s onwards...

http://www.blog.konami.jp/gs/hideoblog_e/2006/03/001403.html

It sounds kinda slip from him, of course we know that they will be there but it's nice to know they are really working hard with MGS4 :)

Hehe, yes, I heard that. He felt really miserable after noticing he let slip a super duper secret they might had to reveal later but is now open. Or they could have easily edited it out you know. It's not like it was a live show. It's pre-recorded man. So I'm guessing it was a staged revelation. They wanted their listeners to know they are working hard for E3 and not just sitting in a radio station making podcasts talking about Japanese pizzas tasting like total badzookas. hehe

Yeah, that's why I phrased it "It sounds kinda slip from him", but IMO he got into awkward situation because of the other guy who asked him about more details he isn't allowed to reveal yet :) You know, Sony doesn't like unintended info slips that much :D

But it's nice to have (audio) blog from those guys, gives fans something to chew while waiting for the next MGS :)

forget RSX. forget specs. forget the pad. forget price. forget everything. now imagine what hell Sony will break loose buy showing the first glimps of these games:

FF13 and Tekken (just owned Japan)
GTA4 and SOCOM (just owned the West)

DMC, Ace Combat and Silent Hill (just owned the rest of the world)

of course, don't forget the new titles like the next Front Mission and news from major devs like what Naughty Dog has been up to.
the PS franchises are simply huge in numbers and magnatude. it will really be tough for the competition to fight for attention.
lets not forget new trailers of MGS, GT, Lair and others to cap it off.
and mark my words; Heavely Sword will be playble!

I most definately agree. It's all about the games after all. Those tittles you mentioned will be supreme! I'm very keen to see new footage of tekken (who wouldn't be, after the short clip showed last e3, introducing "next-gen Jin"), but what would be really nice IMO is that Sony would have a playable demo of the much discussed killzone with the exact or better visuals. That would be the day :).

I think that E3 will be big but Sony could end up saving some of their hype for TGS. Its a long time between May and November and there will need to be a point between release of the PS3 and E3 where hype needs to be revitalized.

Z
03-26-2006, 03:34 PM
not at all. E3 is the industry's biggest event. also, TGS is concidered the E3 of Japan (and Asia). they always show the same fottage that appeared in E3 and maybe extended ones or altered ones. playbles of demoes only at E3, that kind of thing. they will go all out. the only thing I expect to be left for TGS is the final launch line up and the price.

I wonder how SRPGs will look like on the next-gen consoles. For RPGs, I have sort of an idea, ditto for action, adventure, platform and sports titles. Right now I wanna see some next-gen SRPGs.

Just imagine Disgaea 3, Fire Emblem Next or Phantom Brave 2. ^_^

I swear, if they show me an in-game Tekken video I am going to faint!

that is my BIGGEST next-gen title for me!!

Just imagine Disgaea 3, Fire Emblem Next or Phantom Brave 2. ^_^
since they are 2D and use sprites, what could they add more? this is like 2D fighters. to me, they look the same from the Genesis to PS2 (with higher res sprites and better sound obviously, yet still).
I always thought it was funny to hear people say "wow, Street Fighter on the new system rocks!". it is exactly the same as the last one man. lol

for what its worth, they did have a PS2 launch soccer game. though it wasn't called WE, it was from Konami non the less. and I think it is safe to presume EA packing a FIFA game with the launch (yes, I know how FIFA compares to WE. let us not get into that one ;) )

Oooooooooooooooo so excited. Though I must say Killzone has truely got me worried. We've heard little from Guirella Games since lat E3, and it's got me thoroughly concerned about the next gen FPS. I mean, this could possibly be the Halo killer spoken of before. Ok, maybe no kill Halo, but it can atleast give Sony their answer to it. (I don't count SOCOM. Though it's a great game in it's own right, I'm more talking about te fantasy FPS games, if you follow me) Motorstorm is said to be less impresive than it's E3 counterpart, so this hass got me more scared. Please, someone quelch my fears?

gaming site have mixed reports on how the GDC games looked. don't read much into those because if they were showing games to impress us- the gamers- they would have released direct demos and made playbles available. but this was not why the show was made. why else would the show an relatively old Resistence build? why else Factor 5 didn't show a nre Lair trailer?

that is what E3 is for; you'll have your new trailers, demos, playbles, hands-on impressions, the works! just hang on there for 42 more days ;)

Killzone isnt really much like Halo, I honestly dont know why people compare the two. Its like you said SOCOM has a better chance of "killing" Halo. From the way the trailer looked the gameplay looked the same as the first Killzone, so if all the new game is, is better graphics then it once again wont live up to the hype.

All I really want to see at E3 is one game. FFXIII will completely overwhelm me if they have a good trailer of it.

I can't seem to get excited about FFXlll when Xll isn't even over here yet...But yeah..I want PS3 to live up to the hype too-and if Killzone isn't up to par yet-then just don't show it..wait untill december 2007 to release the game if you have to-that was the biggest demo at E3 and the most talked about game, if people don't play something that blows them away to that effect, then the game is not ready to be shown IMO. Give us a new demo and say "coming soon" at the end, then continue to polish that sucker up to at least the level of detail as E3. A playable Virtua Fighter 5 would be nice-and i defintely wanna see how Warhawk and Heavenly Sword turns out...Don't really care for GTA so much (a little too real for me) but GT5 is a different story. And MGS4-do i really need to say anything? Yeah...I see a big E3 for all the platforms this year-Sony and Revolution will probably have the best shows seeing as if their launching consoles while M$ is probably just showing off their best software. I have to admit though, it's only March, and I'm already tempted to go and get a 360 with games like Ghost Recon, and Elder Scrolls Oblivion-If 360 has a price drop, i might have to pick one up! Hurry SOny!!!..lol

I don't think it was that bad...just compared to the FPS on Xbox-it was really lagging behind. But now, there aren't any excuses with PS3 killzone. No hardware limitations crap-the only limitations they have is their own imaginations and creativity. If they put out a sucky game this time-then they just SUCK...

Z
03-28-2006, 10:33 PM
the gameplay didn't require jumping, so why put it? this is like saying you couldn't swim.

as for competing with another game on another platform; that isn't how things work. if you don't have the games compete on the same system, then they don't really compete at all. this is like saying Oblivion will Metroid or GT will kill Forza. come on people, you can do better than that.

PS. let us not get to much into Killzone. there is a long dedicated thread for it if you wish to take it there. this is about E3 in general, not a Killzone part 2 thread.

OmniStalgic
03-28-2006, 10:42 PM
Yeah but u can't help but compare sometimes-I mean realistically, everyone probably has all three systems or 2 or whatever now. But, In the early years of consoles-people (including myself) only have the option of getting one console. So while comparing games on different consoles is unfair to developers-it's almost a must for consumers man...

ded5850
03-28-2006, 10:49 PM
I'm aware of the purpose of this thread, and I didn't mean to send us off topic. I was just mentioning my concern. And adding a jump feature could mean the world in a game. Especially an FPS. My 2 cents. You can debate it, but it's just an opinion. And people are always going to compare games to other ones of the same genre on a diffrent console. Hell, the first Killzone was said to be the Halo killer so that should tell ya how into competition people get with their consoles. People like to feel they have the best console with the best games. Bottom line.

In regards to E3, as I said, it should be fun. I'm really excited to hear what every system is going to have. I think Sony will steal the show (again), but i think Revelation will get some airplay too. Lets not forget 360. It had it's shaky beginnings, but we're getting past that. So excited!

Hell, the first Killzone was said to be the Halo killer so that should tell ya how into competition people get with their consoles.
that was press generated hype. the devs and publishers never compared the two. and what is the point in comparint games exclusive to different systems? so what is the point in comparing GT to Forza or J&D to Blinx ? if you can't play the other, then there is no point.

you can talk about the same game and how it plays on different systems, or different games on the same system so that we can have a meaningful discussion. but having the "my dad can beat up your dad" kind of discussions are pointless- not to mention sad.

I am not saying you are making this kind of discussion, but this will lead to that. since alot here own a PS2, it would be much meaningful comparing similar FPS togehter. we can talk how Killzone stacks up in gameplay, online and visuals compared to other PS2 FPS that we may have or can get on it.
you can compare two different games on two different system if you own both and don't know what game to get. but that is a different topic all togehter.

this is not directed to a specific person, but a general note. this is about E3 and the excitement, surprises, showes, etc. it will host. we can also talk about non- PS3 specific E3 topics as well, of course. just don't let it turn in the kind of discussion I mentioned above :)

i don't think that it was neccesary for the jump button to be in the game but for convienience.(as an owner of both halo and killzone i can speak on it) there are alot of parts on killzone for example that require you to shoot upwards ontoo a ledge or something. why have a hard time doing that when you cna just jump and massacre? its more convienient for a jump button. (just my 2 cents.)

what do you mean a little? Oblivion, Two Worlds and that Pinata games scream next-gen. as I have been saying, wait till you see what they bring next year.X2 is a next-gen system and it has amaing graphics abilities. they problem it has is that it didn't have that good of a first impression.

i don't think that it was neccesary for the jump button to be in the game but for convienience.
I agree, especially having jump in the online mode. the solo game may not require jumping, but any online shooter should incorporate jump. it should be one of the default features like strifing, crawling, etc.

as for E3, I am really dying to see game footage from Tekken. I cannot wait till they show the first pics of Silent Hill and Ace Combat- though that may not happen this E3...

I for one think the RSX specs is more of a smokescreen, remember we were thinking the HDD would notbe standard. I said it over at PS3forums, and I will say it here. We forums members are the ones that read all the tech , game and company up-to-date info and go out and preach to those who may be ingnorant to the fact. i was ignorant to alot of things until stumbling unto forums such as this one years ago, always came, just took me years to join up. Sony says whatever, not cuase they are a lying ass company, cause they wanted the competition to get laxed not improve their machine specs up until the last minute. And hey, many are fretting about the RSX being 'old' , but I say if the relationship tween the cell and it giving us the graphics we are seeing, im not worried.

Wait til 6 weeks, I know they have people reading these forums, who knows, that info might be for the x-box fanboys to get happy until E3(WHAMMO).

ah, I didn't think about RTS (though i love that genre. lol). in my defense, I did mention that I really wanted good RTS games on PS3- especially that they will support key/mouse. but I never thought about it technically, like how many soldiers can be onscreen, size of the battle maps, etc.

I am seeing amazing RTS games on PC (there is one in particula that is stunning), so I hope they will make or posrt some of them from PC. consoles are dry on RTSs.

we've all seen the heavenly sword trailer, and those graphics with an entire battlefield littered with soldiers all with their own AI (unlike most RTS games). And they pulled that off with better GFX than any RTS i've ever seen.
