November 20, 2003 - There have been strong rumors floating around the Internet lately concerning the status of two upcoming Sega titles, Vectorman and Altered Beast. Originally announced in May 2003 for display at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, both of these revitalized Sega Genesis titles have been relatively quiet with little or no information in the six months following their debuts. In fact, as recently as yesterday evening, several online publications and fan sites have even been claiming that both of these games had been scrapped altogether; leaving several fans and the editors at IGN wondering whether or not it's true.

To get to the bottom of it all, IGN contacted Sega of America for its official comment on the status of these games earlier today:

"Altered Beast is still coming," said the Sega representative we spoke with, "it's just that with all the development studio reshuffling and other internal changes, our teams have been relatively quiet as we settle in. Look for things to take off again after Sonic Heroes comes out in January."

On the subject of Vectorman, however, the rep had quite a different story: "As for the other game, Sega has decided not to continue with the Vectorman project at this time."

And so there you have it: One game down, one on the way. Stay tuned for more as it develops.

haha, at least they realized how horrible the game looked before they ruined the franchise.

Yeah, Vectorman has to be made out of floating green balls or he's not Vectorman.

vectorman gone? so sad. well, it would have probably sucked anyways. i don't think vectorman can work in 3D. i'd love to see an all new 2D sidecrolling vectorman sequel game on GBA tho...

Yes, Vectorman on GBA would be cool.

I never saw the snapshots for Vectorman 3D though. Is it really that bad?
