View Full Version : NNow's Observer Returns!
As part of my promised "E-mpire March," a very special columnist from NNow's past is returning. I've been talking with him behind the scenes for quite some time now and now it's time for him to come back. My good friend and partner in crime Observer has come out of game media retirement to continue entertaining and enlightening fans.
He revisits his groundbreaking look at the PSP in the first installment of a trilogy:

Was a very good read. Alot of times I get bored reading gaming articles, but not with this one.
awesome read! well written
Yeah that's the thing that makes Observer's articles good...you may not always agree with him on every issue but that's not the point. The point is he gets you to think and he entertains you the whole way through.

Long but well worth it. I noticed it states that he wrote another article but last year, anyone got a copy/link to that article?

Well I couldn't take anymore of that, the guy seems like a complete and utter moron, I gave up after he started talking about Syphon Filter, the 9.8 on the first one is a lot closer then the 7.6, the first Syphon Filter was awesome, the rest not so much, but that's not my point. He says the are no games that make the PSP worth getting then says he hates RR games but loves the PSP version, that says a lot, and he is the first person I have ever heard say anything bad about Luminus.

His old PSP article is buried deep within NNow's archives...go to google and type in parenthesis Observer "PSP: A Reality Check" and for his massive counter to IGN's original DS blunder type in Observer IGN NintendoNow
Tell me if you find it or not.

I could not be more staunchly against this article unless he said that RR was trash as a series and on the PSP. Lumines kicks the crap out of Meteos on anyday of the week and I'm pissed that Meteos isn't as good as everyone made it seem to be. "Does he even play puzzle games?" This is the question I asked myself while reading this.
I would like to make the argument for the PSP but really..that could wage on forever and now with this guy it would basically become PSI vs NNOW which is not something I'm about to engage in.
However, it is my oppinion that this article is trash, and that's all I'm saying.
note: at this point in time I have a DS and no PSP

I was hammering the RSS feed when this showed up. The first article is what brought me over to NNow. :-)

Well, as a PSP owner i do agree with him on 99% of what he said. Lumines was a good game...i still think Meteos owns it, but it was a good game. But he is honoust, and gives an honoust opinion. Its preference, some people love RPG's, i cant stand them because in my eyes they are boring and slow.
You cant argue with his Jack of all trades but master of none quote. That fits the PSP very well. I still enjoy it, but its true.
But, its fact that the DS is the better video game system...One year ago today i would have never said this about any recent nintendo system save maybe the GBA)...
this has nothing to do with the gamecube or revolution. you should know better Mach. its on the homepage, so theres no need to promote it here.

I agree, at least move it to the DS boards.

Hmm.. I look forward to any other articles he's going to write in the future, I don't have much to say about this article. ''Meh''
edit:
I hope that one day my children will choose to play Nintendo games over something soulless like Jak & Daxter, Blinx or GTA. However, putting my personal
Jak and Daxter, soulless? Fair enough that he doesn't want his kids to play GTA, but I would never call GTA or Jak and Daxter souless. Naughty Dog makes fantastic platformers. And he sounds like every other person who hates GTA, so they call it flat or 'soulless'.

I hate GTA, but it is not soulless, well it is but not in this context, boring yes, souless defently not.
I like reading The Observer's stuff.
and where did my post go?

Danji... Lumines was definitely not as good as Meteos!
and where did my post go?
Your post is with all the other posts in the copy version of this thread that was in the PSP section. That PSP section obviously had too many diehard Sony fans for that thread to be in there so it was moved to the recycling bin. The mods shouldn't have put it in that gaming section.
Now, we're going to get back on topic of Observer's article and stay on topic.
