Reuters reported that Sony has confirmed a spring 2006 launch date for PlayStation 3, but no territory was specific, so the system maybe launched in Japan first. Sony has denied the online reports about the PS3 launch been pushed back to Q4 2006.

i bet this just means they are launching in japan sometime in spring/summer.

So they denied the rumours of a Q4 launch, and people assume that's a confirmation of a Q1 launch? Interesting.

When does Sony's fiscal year begin?

Personally I never really though it would launch later. Besides didn't Sony already claim that their Spring '06 plans were going well according to their schedule. Good to hear though.

Doesn't that Reuters article the Magicbox is refering to simply refer back to that PSM scan, and not any sort of actual new info? I think that's what's going on here.

If Sony decided to deny this release date rumour, its good circumstancial evidence that the ress of the PSM article is true!

this sounds pretty sweet to me. to be honest i wouldnt be suprised if they launched sooner then everyone expects. almost everything said up till this point has just been speculation. for all we(and most other people)know sony is totally on track for they're launch date in the spring.

When does Sony's fiscal year begin?

2004 and 2005 their fiscal year ended March 31st.
