View Full Version : XBOX gets dissed by one of it's strongest developers

Sega-AM2 does not have current plans to port the Chihiro arcade games Virtua Cop 3 and Outrun 2 to Xbox, even though Chihiro is fully compatible with Xbox. The reason is that Sega would have to release a new lightgun controller for Xbox, and the retail price of the game will be too high (for Virtua Cop 3).

My thoughts - Sega in a press conference statee that Outrun 2 would come out on gaming consoles. Would this mean PS2 and GCN now?

That's pretty sad when your getting denied a game that runs off of the system hardware in the first place...

Well if you'd read you'd see why Virtua Cop 3 is a no-go at this point in time. I'd like to see OutRun 2 sometime soon.

No it's a diss...

Outrun 2 is officially in developement for ps2 and another next generation console... Which was stated at the Tokyo Game Show. Now it's official that Outrun 2, is not going to be on the Xbox That is the Diss when a game made on your systems hardware, is getting ported to other systems, but not coming out on the one the arcade board runs on. Plus House of Dead 3 was on Xbox, guns have been released. However that wasn't the diss, Outrun 2 is.

There saying the xbox isn't worth releasing a game already developed for it.

House of the Dead III lightgun = made by MadCatz, not Sega. Have you played Virtua Cop 3? It is possible that the MadCatz lightgun does not have all the features Sega needs for a home console version.

The cost of producing a whole new light-gun controller for the Xbox made the Virtua Cop 3 port economically unfeasible.

As for OutRun2, the Xbox's lack of popularity in Japan was cited as the motivating factor.

"This just in - Sonic Adventure: DX will NOT be coming to either the Xbox or PS2"

At TGS it was in a press confrence. If you look at IGN or Gamestop and back log I'm sure it's there. It's on http://www.game-attitude.com/ if you back log. If anyone know french they can go to it no problem... I usually get my news from frendch, german or japanesse sights anyway. They say that Outrun 2 will come out no multiple consoles, yet they declined to say which ones it would come out for. So people assumed xbox and ps2. Since at that time everyone was dissing the cube.

But if they say it's coming home but not to the xbox... Where else do you think it would go?

Why does your story keep changing?

First you said Sega said in a press conference it was coming to GC and PS2.

Then you said you can email them and get confirmation (yet you did not provide an email address or any form of contact).

Next you said at TGS "places posted" it was coming out for multiple consoles (changed from your "Sega said" story)

Then you link to a Gamespot story that says nothing about OutRun 2 coming to PS2 or GC.

Finally you link to a French site (because everyone knows that they are the most trustworthy sites :evillaugh ) that even has "rumors" in their title bar.



If it was confirmed you would have no trouble producing a link to a reputable site such as GameSpot, GameSpy, or IGN, or a press release or Sega Contact.

They said nothing at TGS of OutRun 2 going to multiple consoles.
