Halo sells more than 3,000,000

July 14, 2003 - In one of those rare instances where quality really does push quantity, Microsoft and Bungie Studios announced that their top-rated Xbox game Halo: Combat Evolved has now sold over three million units worldwide.

"Great to see that Halo continues to be a success on Xbox," said Bungie studio manager Pete Parsons, "and later this summer we will unleash Halo for the PC with online multiplayer capabilities featuring new maps, weapons and vehicles, plus the ability for fans to create mods."

And while Halo for the PC will help work your skills back to par, it's the highly anticipated sequel, Halo 2 that's generated the most buzz among gaming enthusiasts, even though it's not scheduled to be released until 2004.

Until then, if you haven't yet joined the ranks, go out and pick up a copy of Halo. If you own an Xbox, it's still the best game your money can buy.

No, remember M$ just announced 9.4 xbox units sold. About 1 every 3 people that buys a Box gets Halo.

yes i do agree that it was a great game, but im much more excited about Half-life 2 rather than Halo 2 and it comes out in 3 months!!!

No Gamecube game has sold 3 million (at least I don't think so), but first and second party GC titles usually sell a lot. SSB: M should hit 3 mil soon...er...or later.

I got Xbox a year after it came out, I had plenty of time to play Halo before that, imagine that, playing a game before I bought it.

btw I know ssb:m sold over 1 million in japan and if it sold more then 1.5 million in us and .5 in europe it would be around 3 million but I know know how much it sold in US I would think it would be more then 1.5 ~shurgs~

I honestly can't pick one "best" game............ I enjoy certain games at certain times. Sometimes I feel like Halo, others Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x, and then when I wanna play online.............

I just came back from playing alittle Halo and Mech Assault, the mech one is okay something to pass the time with. I haven't really played to many others. (friends system)

I got bored with MechAssault's single player (it's also pretty difficult, might I add). The online play / multiplayer is fun, though.

Nope. Seeing as Microsoft just announced that they've sold 9.4 million XBoxes worldwide since launch, over two thirds of XBox owners don't have Halo.

Someone else already said that as well, even though he was only saying that to get his point across, I really doubt that he actually meant every person has it.

It's more of a fact than a response. I find it hard to believe that 66.67% of XBox owners do not have Halo.

Blockbuster has copies of Halo. Are those included in the 3,000,000 copies sold or are they kept track of separately.

Yeah, Halo was the first game I bought. I'm not into RPGs or crazy Japanese games......... and recently I only buy cheap games, 'cuz I need to spend my money on my car for the time being.
