Does anyone know if the buttons on the PSP is pressure sensitive like the PS2 controler.

If you have "GT4 - Prologue" on PS2 you need the use of pressure sensitive buttons to get through the tests, and with "GT4 - Mobile" you will might need the use of these button.

Why would Sony downgrade their buttons for their gaming systems? :)

but why did the guy who developed MGS (don't know his name atm) that a classic MGS isn't possible for the PSP because of the controls...
i remember he said something with the buttons or so.
cause as i heard, in MGS you aim when you push a button just a bit and when you press it you shoot.

or do you think he just meant it isn't possible because of the analouge nub thats on the wrong side ?

Its just their excuse to not put real metal gear solid on PSP.. they just not want to ruined Metal Gear SOLID series.

I think they will port MGS: Twin Snake to PSP after psp' first year

Like GT4 Mobile and other racing games.

yeah, especially racing games need touch sensitive buttons.
but also action games could benefit of them.

It never works anyway, let's just hope that PS3 Dual Shock 3 has triggers, then we can play racing games properly...

even though using a wheel is the proper way, pah!

If you go to Walmart or Gamestop and look at the controllers, there are some that say mini controller. Many of those have the R2 and L2 buttons as triggers while R1 and L1 are buttons. Its only drawback is that they're mini most of the time, if not all.

Can you use the triggers (analogue) on PS2 racing games?

GT3 and 4 use them. You push the left stick forward to accelerate, and pull it back to brake.

psp wont have L2 R2 L3 R3 and right analogue stick
i heard somewhere that it WILL be pressure sensitive
Does it have dual shock???

in racing games the analogue stick is an alternate control besides on psp it would be for deriction cuz it on the left

PseudoChron

The PSP could have L3, couldn't it?

ultimategamer2004
07-27-2004, 05:28 PM
Well technically it could have L3?

NickSCFC

L3 is the left stick on the PS2 pad, but it depends whether it acts as a button or not.

Yeah i supose it is unlikly cus it is so small if it were bigger then maybe.

PsP_will_rock

remember the analogue stick slides instead of tilts so the wont put button cus it not a joystik
too hard to design IMO

NickSCFC

Depends if you can press it or not.

Hideo Kojima's reason for not releasing a direct port of MGS on PSP was that the game's too dependent on subtle movements- the example he gave was, say you're sneaking behind a guard- if you're on a bus, it could hit a bump, you nudge the analogue stick, and BOOM!, you're spotted. That's why he went with a strategy title.

Nothing to do with analogue buttons, but the PSP doesn't have any. Can't say the PS2's analogue buttons were a huge success anyway, and they seem to be somewhat less robust than old-fasioned digital buttons. Now, analogue triggers, they're great fun.

Check out this page. It says the buttons are digital, not analog, except for the one analog stick.

To me they are still buttons but does that mean that they dont actually press?

Erm, if you mean "digital", it just means that they're normal buttons, which are either "off" or "on", as opposed to analogue, which can have varying degrees of "on", from "on a little" to "on a lot" to "You're about to break the controller, stop pressing so hard".

If that's not what you meant, sorry for being patronising.

No i misunderstood what the digital ment i thought that it was like you just push your finger on top of a flat surface!

Oh, right!

Reminds me of a funny story about digital tampons, but I won't go into that.

Yeah thats right DONT go into that! Anyways i think all the buttons have really been explained now!
