since i am a extreme fan of platformers and Jak i have come with somewhat of a hope that there will be a Jak and/or ratchet game on PSP because...
http://www.pspinsider.com/screens/album03/aav.jpg
with the special Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank PSP cover i was thinking they would put Jak 3 and Ratchet & Clank 3 on it also. just like GT4 where they announced there will be a GT4 on PS2 and boom! there is a GT4 mobile. and also i think in the screen of the PSP on the above pic a doombuggie. and in Jak 3 there is doombuggies and things like that in it

no the screen is from atv off road fury...It's in the sony video....Good point about the characters...I would love to have em...But those games would pose the same problem as my beloved gta.....constant umd reading........

I think it's very likely that Jak/Ratchet & Clank will appear on PSP. A good portion of handheld gamers enjoy quality platformers--it would be stupid of Sony to ignore how well mere ports of previous Mario games sell on GBA SP. Sony also must realize that while Playstation gamers will support the PSP, they are also marketing to handheld gamers. The handheld market is different from the Playstation market. Sony will have to include many good platformers--not just ports/sequels but different ones--in order to keep strong in the handheld market.

a game like jak 2 would drain the battery very quickly though, because of constant umdreading, so i dont know how big the levels would be on it
it would be great to hav it on psp though

Another example of a game that constantly streams data because the areas are so huge they can't be all loaded into the memory. Highly doubtful we'll see a port, the game would have to be completely remade with loading between areas.

i supose it wudnt be too annoying, they would have to split up the different areas of the town for example

Where is it that you're getting your information? The developers clearly know that by using a data streaming system to load the game data, that the battery life will be decreased. Therefore, they've devised multiple ways around this problem already. One is that UMD's, unlike conventional disc-based media are stationery and the LASER moves, eliminating the need for the disc to constantly have to spin down and spin. Secondly, they increased the amount of RAM in the PSP by 4. RAM, by its very definition is memory that is randomly accessed, therefore the more RAM you have, the less strain that is put on the CPU, and less stress = less loading, less loading = less battery consumption. These are just two ways that the PSP is going to combat energy consumption in a revolutionary way.
It should also be stated that you can fly between several states in a 2.5 hour period, the LEAST amount of battery life that the PSP can possibly have. It also depends on what YOU are doing. If you watch a movie for 1.5 hours, then game, that affects the projected battery life of 2.5-10 hours. Until you hold a PSP in your hand, please stop crying about the battery life, this has been discussed in great detail repeatedly.

Rachet and clank would be mad fun on the PSP. I never liked platformers till I played rachet and clank 2. I hope they come out with either rachet and clank 2 port or a new one.

"One is that UMD's, unlike conventional disc-based media are stationery and the LASER moves, eliminating the need for the disc to constantly have to spin down and spin. "
What the hell are you talking about there? I can't even visualize what you are trying to say...But either way, disc moving or laser moving, something is using motors.
"Secondly, they increased the amount of RAM in the PSP by 4. RAM"
Hope you mean X4 which I think you do cause it went from 8 to 32.
I also don't get your thing on flying. The battery life isn't about how long you can play in one sitting for me. it's about how many times I can play without having to recharge.
And I see no one crying about the battery life. You're the one who decided to come in here and make it a big deal...

i agree, the people saying ' but ur just a geek if ud play it 10 hours straight' have the totally wrong idea

right...like when I get a cell phone I'm not thinking "oooo I can talk fro 10 hours straight!" I'm thinking, "I can probably go 3-4 days without having to charge this thing."
What I really think will happen though is a new way of thinking to load games like j&d. I wonder about it though...why did sony make a big deal about the umd discs being 1.8 gigs? I mean the 32MB of ram is huge on a handheld. I mean even the ps2 has just 32MB of ram...

The PS2 has 32MB of RAM while the PSP has 36, depends on the bandwidth of the memory though.
Yeah the disc spinning constantly will drain batterylife in a big way so it is an issue, it could quarter the battery life so if they get around that issue theyr alright.
When you play a game it preloads information into the console then the disc stops spinning, this is why you can take your game out and keep playing up until a point and it does this to use less electricity.
If the UMD disc is stationary then it will save a lot of battery life, besides the PSP isnt finalized they might drop in an OLED screen, they could do a few neat things to improve battery life, Sony have been involved in an OLED project since 1999.

This won't happen but what about a function in the games (in option menu) where you can choose how many memory you want to use for the game (from your Memory stick) as addition to the 36MB RAM to save battery life...

Damn that would drain even more memory, 1 hour battery life maybe.

sorry my bad :)
i was confused because some punk told me a other story :(.

But wouldn't more memory mean you can get more data without continued steaming and so automaticly save battery life?
Makaveli_786

Data is always streaming from the CPU to the GPU it just uses memory to travel from one point to another, sometimes the CPU can cache a little bit of the data but it still has to stream it to the GPU.

Yeah, but by using the additional Memory Stick memory, you could save on disc streaming.

If you got hold of a big stick(1-2 GIG) then yeah you could but dont forget its Random Access Memory so that would hurt the battery life worse than the CD spinning.

maybe Jak 3 and R&C3 on PSP and PS3 like GT4 but i think i said that...i would rather have that than nothing

you guys are forgetting about the extra battery pack. yes it looks big but is something that can carried on your pockets, bag or bookbag. once the first battery runs out just plug in the other one, simple as that. so what is the issue with psp's battery life. is just stupid to continue on.

its going to be 10 hours of play i mean it doenst decrease drasticly to each game...maybe 10 minutes the most per game. cause i mean look how great GT4 looks are you saying cause it looks good you only get to play for 4 hours?
That sounds a bit silly to be honest.

LOL, thats pretty crazy.
Theres a battery pack which looks like it clicks on to the back of the battery already on the PSP to add a little width, I think thats a good idea, I wouldnt min adding a few cm's to my PSP to double battery life.

i think it will happen
ratchet and clank and
jak and daxter were big hits on the ps2 so y not on a psp? :D
We were refering to gamingmonkey2004's comment, not about R&C and J&D on the PSP. They'll more than likely make an appearance on the PSP.
