i really hope they've fixed all the graphical glitches. the seeing-through-the-road, the outrun-the-texture-streaming, the shimmering, and the rest of em.
to see probably the worst glitch, start at Sunshine Autos, grab a car and head North (i think it's North, but toward the top of the map). you drive down that street and you watch the awning on the building straight ahead at the end of the street. it's got very narrow stripes, but as you approach it the stripes get really really big and then small again over and over and it's really freaky.

yes i really hope so too i think they will have tried there best with this one the previous gtas you could see through walls and the road it was mad..
julps31
05-20-2004, 07:51 PM
I'm sure they will. The extra time they had making the game should be enough to get the bugs out. Plus they say that their is a streaming technology that will allow them to put more features in it.
ultimategamer2004
05-20-2004, 07:54 PM
Yes i think they will have and the tech is amazing it is going to be 7 times as big as VC i have heard.

4-6 it said in an article but from the shit ive been hearing about this game it seems like a whole damn planet.
i'm just hoping for that long long freeway with desert on each side between citys to bomb down and overtake wimpy cars. ahh bliss.

codes...when i pick up a GTA game i know that there are like miilions of codes.
of course i dont do it until after i finish. i loved the floating car on VC and going on a killing spree with guns
KlawHammer
05-21-2004, 10:07 AM
Yes codes are good, but if you use codes to progress in the game then you are not a real gamer, use codes only for fun and what if situations and/or when/if you finish the game.
gamingmonkey2004
05-21-2004, 01:18 PM
after i finsihed the game is when i use codes.plus i loved the floating cars!
ultimategamer2004
05-21-2004, 09:53 PM
I totally agree if you are a real gamer you should not use codes until you have completed the game..
I know some people who have used the floting car cheat on gt3 and dont even do the game it is actually a waste of money if you dont do it properly.
I won't write my usual lecture on the use of codes, I'm sure you've seen it enough times.
But yea, the codes that come with the GTA games can make car chases and killing sprees a lot more interesting.

i love enabling the dodo cheat putting the turret backward and flying away with the tank 8)
you can go so damn high and then jump out and plummet for 30 seconds towards earth 8)
julps31
05-22-2004, 07:10 AM
I usally don't use cheats on any game unless i'm desperate, because its going to shorten the replayability but GTA is an exception. I would play the game normally save than use the cheats and have non-mission fun so it doesn't hurt my record.
Makaveli_786
05-22-2004, 05:06 PM
Is it just me or does anybody else think the criminal rating in GTA is genius, man I love that rating, I can play for hours and hour after completing the game.
It's just one of those games where the possibilities are almost endless, if you get what I mean. You can pretty much do what you want.
Makaveli_786
05-22-2004, 07:18 PM
Man I wonder if that article posted in everything else was genuine, 4000 rifles and planning bank robberies just seems out of the league for any current-gen game to be pushing.
Who's to say that it can't be done? Just because it's never been done before, doesn't mean it's out of reach.
Makaveli_786
05-22-2004, 07:43 PM
Damn they must have worked on it for a while though.
Well look how long we've been talking about it. I'm sure they've probably been developing it since Vice City.
Makaveli_786
05-22-2004, 08:32 PM
If VC took up 2 gigs of storage space how many discs is SA going to be on?
I reckon just the one. Otherwise every time you cross a certain point you would have to change disks.
Makaveli_786

Damn lets hope this streaming data system works, maybe then well see it incorporated into more games.

05-22-2004, 08:40 PM
Damn they must have worked on it for a while though.
Yes it must have taken time since VC i would say and it is 7 times the size of it i recon the massive sales of thye last 2 games have made them hurry it up a little i hoe it isent delayed.
R* have never really made a habit of changing release dates. Red Dead Revolver is the only one I can really think of.
ultimategamer2004
05-22-2004, 08:45 PM
that is true and surly they wont with uch a big title will they?
Well, they could do what they like to be honest, but I think that they'll stick pretty close to the date that has been given.
ultimategamer2004
05-22-2004, 09:05 PM
Same here they will most likly keep it within 2 months of the date they have stated carnt wait till October..
I was thinking less than 2 months, a lot less. But we shall see I suppose.
ultimategamer2004
05-22-2004, 09:46 PM
That is a maximum i think they will go it will take loads of preperation though.
julps31
05-23-2004, 02:51 AM
About the 4,000 gun thing here is a quote take directly out of game informer. Well in the game infromer artical they say that "The changes haven't been [putting in] 4,000 guns because there certainly aren't, it's more that there is a much different feel to each weapon and the feel has been overhauled." So there aren't 4,000 different weapons they just put more focus on making each weapon feel different than each other.
Ahh well, that's still pretty good anyway.

05-24-2004, 05:59 PM
Well think about it this way, one thing we know is that you can go to the gym, get fat or fit.
Now if your holding a 25KG rocket launcher and your skinny or fat then you wont be able to handle it as well but if you go to the gym and bulk up, put on a little muscle youll be able to handle it a lot better.
In that article they talked about your physique being an important factor in missions and this would be a good way to implement it into the game.
julps31
05-24-2004, 06:08 PM
Yeah, you'll probably have a much harder time handling the rocket launcher or other big weapons when your fat rather when your fit and can probably carry it for a longer time than if you were fat. Your stamina meter will probably increase the more you work out. I'm loving this game. :D
Makaveli_786
05-24-2004, 06:12 PM
Shit this game could be classed as a semi-RPG.

***first post***
Yeah, GTA series have been great - but the one thing I've always wanted is for you to be able to see what weapons you're carrying (like Socom). It would add sooo much more realism, and there'll be some cool animations with switching weapons and that...
What do you guys reckon?
(oh, and be able to snipe the helicopter pilot...and see him fall out or something!!! )
Makaveli_786
05-24-2004, 07:55 PM
Thats a pretty good idea, id like that too.
The weapon idea would be pretty good. FPS games always have realistic reloading and what-not.
Dear God, 4000 posts.....
bRoNx
05-24-2004, 08:03 PM
Yeah, I mean, think about it...if you were fat or skinny (refering to the weight changes being implemented in the new game), that you'd only be able to carry so many guns etc., but if you were fit and well built, you could carry a load more!
Would be interesting if your physique also affected your general movement as well.
Makaveli_786
05-24-2004, 08:18 PM
Shit this game could really blow things up.
MGS3 and GTA4 in the same year, isnt this a ltitle bit too much?

The newest screen shot released, Screen Shot #04, doesn't look much different then the previous three pictures. However, it does showcase the fact that there will be landmarks and whatnot to keep each area exciting for the player. (In other words, it will be like the previous two GTA games.) :P
julps31
05-27-2004, 12:20 AM
Looks like its coming along real nicely. Can't wait for even more screens. :D
thats strange matt?? you havent told anyone off fr going of thread  LOL
also. . . can anyone tell me what this 'data stream bussiness' is with SA. . . and how could it make a GTA game go further?
julps31
05-27-2004, 12:43 AM
Well the environments will get streamed together so that when you play the game it won't be loading evrytime you get to a new area. They won't have to use a loading screen and interupt the gameplay flow. This will alow the game to really feel large and them to put alot of details in the environments.

When we doled out our Best of E3 Awards earlier this week, GameSpot gave Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas the dubious honor of Most Disappointing Absence of the event.
However, since then, visual "evidence" has surfaced that shows GTA: SA did make an appearance at E3--in spirit, anyway.
Yesterday, Rockstar sent out a screenshot of Carl Johnson, the protagonist ("hero" might be strong word) of the upcoming action-crime epic. At first glance, the pic looks like an innocuous snapshot of Johnson riding his bicycle in a parking lot in front of a building.
Closer inspection, though, shows the building to be none other than the Angeles Convention Center, site of the insanity otherwise known as E3. The image's title, "CJ spotted outside Convention Center," adds to this assumption.
As you may already have guessed, the picture is a gag. But instead being fan-created, as some had suspected, the image was fully authorized by Rockstar. Reps from the publisher confirmed its authenticity to GameSpot, calling it "an official screenshot that Rockstar released to the Grand Theft Auto fan site web ring," presumably with a straight face.

Not sure, but I remember seeing it somewhere, though I have never been issued an image where they show a random person as the front of the screen - might of been some sort of employer type guy though.
I may also be confused with a different game, I've seen too many...
julps31
05-27-2004, 06:54 PM
I've hardly seen any screens with white people in it. You must be mistaken with another game.
Makaveli_786

The land between the cities is supposed to be twice the size of Vice City, youll probably have to book flights to get places or something.

That won't take too long to do (rendering wise) because you can generate it with random placements of trees etc.

Even if you can render it using random placements it would still take time to get everything else right.

Damn I bet this has been in the works long before GTA3.
Ahh now this is pure gold:
Bomb scare blamed on Grand Theft Auto
Florida man says his telephone bomb threat was just shouted advice on how to play the Rockstar game.
As anyone who's ever watched Cops knows, many people who are arrested claim they're the victim of some sort of mix-up. But Anthony S. Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, had a truly unique excuse when he was picked up for phoning in a bomb threat to the restaurant where he worked.
According to an article in the Florida-Times Union, Jones was on the phone with a co-worker when he shouted the following words into the phone: "There's a bomb in the building! There's a bomb in the building! Everyone needs to get out!" Rattled, the co-worker hung up and informed the manager, who evacuated the restaurant. After the police found no explosives in the restaurant, they "used a call-return feature" to trace the call to Jones.
When police arrived on his doorstep, Jones admitted he said the threatening words while on the phone--but not the person on the other end of the line. He claimed that he was merely shouting advice to a "child" playing "the game Grand Theft Auto" (presumably Vice City) while on the line with a coworker.
Although the Union article raises more questions than it answers--Did Jones identify himself when he made the call? If so, why would Police need to trace the call? Didn't his coworker recognize his voice? Did he have a beef with his work? Why was he helping a child play the M-rated GTA?--the outcome of the incident is clear. Jones is currently in jail on a $5,003 bond, and will face up to 15 years in jail if convicted.

15 years is a little overboard when some people get less time for murder. Apparently he was in to the game and scared the person on the other line. I could understand if he did it as a joke but I don't think he knew what he was doing. Maybe a fine would do for a case like this.

Rockstar's upcoming crime epic makes an "appearance" at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Man they should fill it up with snoop dogg, 2pac and dre, they were the biggest on the westcoast in the 90's, especially 2pac.
It would destroy the theme if a suicidal skinny lil kid whoose always crying about how his mother is a bitch and his wife is a hoe or a big tall wannabe from new york who makes a mockery out of happy birthday songs were to dominate the radio in GTA4.
It would be hilarious if Dave Chappelle was in there, shit I hope they throw in the whole Def Comedy Jam set

Yeah I'm glad he's not in it and I hope 50 c part is minor.I just want a cool gangster story with the same music variety of GTA III and Vice. Not some over blown "Hey 50c in the game buy it!" shit.
If the "interview" is legit,it seems that R* won't do that.
What about comedy,I thought about something.Since your black mabe you could get like random warning stars or something. Also I heard that Samuel L Jackson and Dave Chappele were in the game.

R* did say in the Game informer artical that when they use a actor in there game they do it for quality reasons and not to get you to buy the game just because that persons in the game. Plus you never know 50 could be good. Just because you don't like his music doesn't mean he's not good.

The game is set in the 90's on the westcoast, during those days the gangsta theme rocked the westcoast and story telling rap was what made westcoast notorious, it would be pretty stupid to put a NY rappers in South Central in the 90's when he didnt make it to the scene until 2003, besides this dude cant even rap let alone story tell it would be totally unoriginal and destroy the reality theme that I suspect theyr trying to create with this GTA.

Actually San Frisico was more of a skateboarder and grunge city.LA was gangsta though.I hope each city shows the 90's culture that it had in the um,90's.I agree with you on 50c,I can't believe people compare him to Tupac. It's like comparing Alice in Chains to Nirvana,AiC kills Nirvana.Despite what main stream says.Hey did yall know that Venturra is a (c'mon it has to be) refrence to Ace Ventura pet detective.A popular 90's flick with Jim Carry.
There is a place west of LA called Ventura, perhaps that has something to do with it?

I'm wondering if,sense they have 3 cities, will they cutdown on the detail?
Chris, your quote "i'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse" is not by robert deniro...and if memory serves me correct, the old don corleone (Marlon Brando) said that line. Deniro played the character of the young don corleone.
Chris Verceti

Actually Deniro says it right before he talks to the Don about the collection money. It's one of the few things he says in engilish. Brando also says it.

I'm wondering if,sense they have 3 cities, will they cutdown on the detail?
It looks from the screens that there will be as much if not more detail in the visuals. The only reason the graphics wouldn't look as good would be if they added a lot more polygons and more characters on screen at once. They would have to compromise texure detail with frame rate. The amount and size of city's in the game really doesn't have to do with the graphics as much as it has to do wth how much data can be packed onto one disc. What would make the difference would be the geometry in the city's.
Chris Verceti
06-05-2004, 07:07 AM
I'm guessing Los Santos will has a well rounded geometry,Las Venturra, and San Furrie will be hilly like Liberty city.I want to see pics of the other cities.

What is Multi theft auto? But I always liked the size of GTA:3. They say that Vice city was bigger but when I was playing GTA:3 I felt like I was in a big city with many different neiborhoods. Vice city felt smaller but thats probably because thats the way Miami really is. Not that its small but that it is flat and doesn't have as large transportation system like a place like new york or chicago.

Makaveli_786
06-08-2004, 09:22 PM
Man come on though twice as big as VC, im thinking the cities will be about the same size and some a little bigger, its crazy to think the land inbetween would be two times the size of the city itself.
Besides the game is set in LV too, LV is all desert so whats the point of having 20 minutes driving in a flat desert then reaching a city that takes 2 minutes to fully explore.
Mountains, seaside, all that I look forward to but this game looks like its going to be based on real cities(remember the landmark in the screenshot) and if it does go through like that then youll have a long long drive to places like LV and all youll see for a long time is desert.
Think about the location and visualize the outskirts.
julps31
06-09-2004, 02:18 AM
I doubt that it would be so big that it would take a long time. I'm sure that R* would no better than to put twenty minutes of blank desert to drive through. It'll probably be big enough that it will add to the games depth but also not so big that you get bored.

R* said the the game itself would be "4-7 times" bigger then VC. they didn't say a firm "7". now im going to be pessimistic and hold it to the "4" but this is coming from R* and game PR are sometimes known to stretch the truth so noone can really say for sure. 4 also seems the more reasonable, you got 3 cities each the size of VC, thats 3 times, then you got the total country/forest between each city which would probly equal 1 city. there you got your 4 times bigger.

Damn theres going to be some real heat about this game....
All the previous games were kind of twisted humor with a no sense of reality....
This is based around something more realistic with real landmarks and your more in touch with your character, its almost as if you have to live his life...
Theyr definetly going to try to get this one banned...
They've tried to ban every single one so far, so of course they'll try it in this one. They'll ban it in Australia, then everyone will moan, then they'll re-release it.

LOL, after it got unbanned I bet it sold like crazy, its a great game.
If something is infamous, then it usually becomes more popular. How do you think games like this and Mortal Kombat have done so well up to now?

How high do you want to go, there wasnt much in the air.
A fighter jet would be nice, dropping a bomb and destroying things, damage to buildings :P

All those pigs, they need to make cops more intelligent.
It would be nice if they had ram cars so they could ram through bank doors and stuff like that.
Better police AI is a must!

Warren G.. man an old skool SCLA G, I swear if they dont put this dudes songs in the game they might as well not make a game...
Naughty by Nature... Are you down with OPP??
Ice Cube... One of the first real gangstaz of rap, remember today was a good day? It would be a beter day if that track was on it
2pac... What can I say, 600 plus amazing tracks, I wont try to name any tracks but my faves are me against the world, all eyez on me, do for love, definition of a thug nigga, panther power, ambitionz as a ridah...

Perfect. Of course they got the best hip-hop artist that represented the early 90's California. This is really going to bring that 1990's atmosphere to the game.

I loved the talk stations. Boy those were hillarious. Lazo. Hopefully they'll have longer audio tracks this time so it won't feel like you've heard it before.
