I know there has been a camera and mobile phone attachment announced already, but does anyone else know of any others?
Also, which addons would you like to see on the PSP?
Accessories:
Stand
Headphone with remote commander
Headphone with remote commander and microphone
External battery pack
Case
Strap
E3 Prototype Exhibition: USB Camera for PSP
USB GPS for PSP
USB Keyboard for PSP

does the keyboard mean an instant messaging service, and what does it mean by external battery pack, any clues?
I would imagine that there will be an IM service, unless it would be used along with the mobile phone add-on so that you can send text messages.

That look's quite small and difficult to use, I do like the transparent effect they have going on though. I take it it's on top of the PSP for show purposes? It would see a bit impractical if that's were it's really going to be positioned...

I cant see the pics
I think i know how it might work. If it has a recieved at the end of each column, it could work out which key is being pressed based on the distance. It can work out the distance using the pressure.
That could work. And by da way, i cant see any wires leading from it, the usb could actually be in the bottom, which is why its on top, of corse it could just be on top to hide the wires, the "USB port is on top"
Going to make a discussion thread out of this one, just try and keep it on-topic people.

05-16-2004, 01:56 PM
No idea.
It's got built in 802.11 compatability, and can connect to 'home-network hotspots.
Those peripherals, though great looking, look somewhat feeble and lack the ability to actually look like the usually do.
The PSP keyboard just looks dodgey, I had to look at my keyboard to see if any keys were missing
Yea, it's the same as sat nav in cars.
Global Positioning System. The only thing I could think of would be that you could use it to work out where you were going. But even that seems a bit pointless to me.

i supose it could be used to find the wherabouts of other psp gamers for multiplayer stuff, spose
although it could mean targeted muggings hmmm
At the moment it seems like a rather silly add-on. Maybe Sony have got bigger plans for it?

Here in Belgium some cars has the GPS, some don't ... this could be usefull for some drivers who would like GPS but that is pretty expensive ... maybe the GPS on PSP won't be that expensive ... and it can also be used to find other gamers maybe...

you can tell because of the LED's in the top picture. it is the same as an iBook battery. i originally thought those were buttons, but seeing them close up i can tell that that is the battery.

well i don't really want to be wrong so I would like to see the link to where this info was found before i post my opinion.( but it does look like an external battery or charger it looks like it would plug stright into the wall and the so called buttons would light up saying how far it has charged.)

I hope they support Memory stick pro even with an adapter but I rather they have the slot it shouldn't be too hard to put it in the same Memory stick Duo slot, I know the specs say memory stick Duo but all there cameras and ther Vaio computer have memory stick slots. It be cool to be able to use them. I think they need the Duo for the video since its like 20 megs a sec but the pro memory stick and even regular memory sticks are fine for music, pics game saves. Plus some sony tv's have the memory stick slot.
anyone know how GPS works , do you have to pay a monthly fee or a one time yearly fee. Because my dad takes alot of trips and would like a portable GPS as an option since he gets lost alot.

richjwild
05-21-2004, 10:19 PM
i bet ps3 will use memory sticks
But then it would eliminate backwards compatibility with both PS1 and PS2 games. As you can't store PS1 games on a PS2 memory card, I would think that the same would apply in this case. Unless of course they have a slot for a PS3 stick and a slot for a PS1/2 card.
richjwild
05-21-2004, 10:39 PM
gud point, seeing as backwards comp has already been confirmed, they probably use a memory card then. . .
There's nothing wrong with the memory card anyway. Although, I wouldn't mind having a larger capacity, as it's annoying trying to check 13 memory cards for a particular savegame.

they could put in a multi-card reader. it's not much of a hassle to have slots for memorystick, ps2 memory cards. no need for ps1 cards, it'll be 12-13 year olds by then. come on.
It all takes up space. I'm sure that they've probably tried to make it as small as they can already.

I am sorry that this may seem a little off topic but given sony's incredible line-up of accessories we should not just focus on the first party accessories but also focus on the third party accessories as well.
Sony's case for the psp is a great idea but I am not sure about how it will fit in my pocket. That is why my focus on the Sony psp covers will be third party accessories. You see the slim slip covers for the Palms, Clies, and PocketPCs made by third party accessory makers so it would be of no surprise if third party accessory makers make slip covers for the psp.

my guess is that its because this made them very very cheap to manufacture, and also because they didn't want enough space for you to load anything malicious (mods, software hacks etc) onto.

How versitile do you think the USB port will be? My hope is that you will be able to plug almost any USB device into it, like mini USB drives and printers and such.
I have a 64 MB USB Jumpdrive that I would like to be able to save things to, if possible.

I doupt those things would work with the psp unless they release them specialy for it like you won't be able to get a printer that you use for your pc to work with the psp.

07-27-2004, 06:40 PM
obv u only read the first half
the psp will have to have the technology like ur pc does to recognise whats being plugged in, so it knows that its a printer etc. then the psp would have to know what to print, if the psps gunna be compatable with a printer they might bring out one especially for the psp

I just had an idea. Sony can release any new gadgets, be they printers or what not, and just provide a UMD driver disc for USB support. However, that would require a small amount of permanent memory on board the PSP, or you would need all the system files on a mem stick. Hmm....
ultimategamer2004

Its an idea and if it would work a very good one its if sony think of it!
dryclean only
07-30-2004, 11:37 PM
Please speak english there ultimate. :P anyway i think that the PSP wouldn't really need a printer made for itself. Sony always uses stuff like their PCs and cameras in conjunction so people that go with all Sony get the most out of it. I think a VIAO or whatever that is will be best for connecting the PSP with and transfering Files such as screen shots or photos, and then you'd just print them out or host them on the web.
The printer thing your talking about would require you to have a PSP, Special printer, and probably a camera attatchment to the PSP. Now i think it would be way smarter if sony would make you ahve to use a PC so you could edit stuff before you print it out, not to mention it would be more usable for other poeple that don't want to spend to much money.

Confirmed?! I didn't even know it was a rumour. However, Gran Turismo 4 has its screenshot-taking mode (fast-forward, rewind, and move the camera to take pictures from your saved replay data) which may well find its way into the Mobile Edition. I reckon few games will have similar features though.

Well I think it is safe to say that the psp will become very expensive in the long run although I am still definately buying it. It's going to be an awesome system but I think that once you have all the accessories you will have almost payed for the psp twice. I am definately looking forward them though. And as far as sony goes, I think they do a good job when they feel its required (I can't spell nesscary), because they've had some really horrible portable walkman speakers and they've also had some ~cutting edge~ ~top of the line~ speakers. I think we'll just have to wait till we get closer to launch date ;)

BUZZ! wrong again! lol.
No there will not be a gameshark....or an action replay for that matter.
Gameshark discs are not endorsed by sony...In fact when they press the disc they have to use crazy taxi.... LINKY (http://club.cdfreaks.com/lite/t-48477-p-7.html). Scroll on down to Kizman's post to see what I mean.
The GameShark and Pro Action Replay are devices that allow custom cheat codes to be enabled in various console games. Originally developed by Datel Design and Development, Ltd. in the U.K., this technology is known as the Pro Action Replay in Europe, while distributed by InterAct Accessories as the GameShark in North America. Acting much like a trainer in the PC world, they write to locations in a console's memory to activate their cheat features. GameShark codes are not official products and are not endorsed by console manufacturers such as Sega, Sony, or Nintendo. In fact, Nintendo actively places new code routines in their Nintendo 64 cartridges to disable use of a GameShark. In turn, InterAct has developed a keycode system and ROM upgrades to keep their products working.
SOURCE (http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:tGNIlNyURbwJ:vgstrategies.about.com/library/weekly/aa051799.htm+gameshark+is+not+endorsed+by+sony&hl= en)
In short Gamesharks are partly pirated. And therefore never have been allowed to use sony presses....and since umds are only gonna get pressed by sony...I think it would be very unlikely...Let's say it like this....If gameshark comes out for psp...a) Sony will have bought them out, or b) Pirated games will be available because someone in hong kong will have pressed it.....

anyway bk to the topic the psp final retail info states that it will be bundled with AC Adapter (which will also charge the system, although there are also terminals for seating the system in a cradle)
Internal battery (which, we're assuming, will be bolted onto the system -- the battery is removable with some installation work, but it still takes some doing)
A pair of headphones (with a remote unit on the dongle, assumedly to control the volume -- the PSP has functionality to support a LCD-based digital remote for doing things such as changing music tracks while on the go, but the cost of including that feature may be prohibitive to inclusion)
A pouch (some kind of protective cover, likely also with a carrying handle or else an accessible slot for getting to the PSP's keychain hook)

EDIT: Oh yeah, the battery life has been announced but it's just a well educated estimation by Sony based on old figured. It's 8 - 15 hours depending on the game but still set to change.
I expect the official battery life will be announced when the figures with the lock down on streaming and the other resources is confirmed.

ok, i dont feel like sea4rching through this topic, but is it at least 60% possible that a cell phone attachment will be coming out within a year of PSPs release? Thanks for the help guys

i don't know how you can expect someone to say: "yes, it is almost exactly 60% possible."
You jackass, just buy a goddamn phone. I wouldn't be holding it off just because they said the PSP COULD have a phone when it was first announced.
And stop asking for rediculus answers.
'I'd say its (42.2453*Pi*r squared)/18 % possible that the phone add-on might come out within 8 months, 2 weeks, six days and three hours of launch'
Buy a shitty cheap phone!!!

uhm, thanks for insulting me, thats whats wrong with people, being stupid and looking through other people's perspectives or anything. why cant people just be nice? im never mean, i ask a simple question and people act stupid, and annoying. And its kind of simple why i would want the cell phone attachment. and uhm i dont feel like walking around with 2 things in my pocket, so why does it matter if i dont want another cell phone and a PSP, when i can have both, in one? makes sense? yes. so shut up next time

Its fair enough to ask whether the cell phone addon is coming out, but how the hell are we gonna know if "but is it at least 60% possible that a cell phone attachment will be coming out within a year of PSPs release".
If you actually read my post there was an answer in there, but no, you ignored that. How many of your posts haven't been about the cell phone attachment? We know as much as you, asking over and over and over and over isn't gonna solve anything.

If Sony does release a cell phone attachment...it will probably be bigger than a standalone cell phone. It would probably have to come out of the USB port, and for one thing that would look weird talking into and # 2 you probly wouldn't be able to fit it in your pocket.
You wouldn't be getting both in one. You would be getting them both...but attached to eachother.

Those are some nice pics, but I expected the USB cable to come with it. I would want to save music files to the memory stick without buying a seperate memory stick drive, and Mini USB B to USB A cables are not very common.
