Yet another one. Feel free to critisize (like I should bother saying that!) This one has the wireless controllers and frequency selectors on the console / controllers.

 Wow, the frequency knobs look huge. Whoever made this forgot that the "P" in "PS2 or 3" doesn't look like that.

@SamIAm: Hey, not a bad concept. The only problem is that it looks to "flat" and without shape (You know how the PS2 had this little "edge" and isn't a full rectangle?).

Why would you need four memory slots? I suppose two could support PS1/PS2 MCs and the other two could supports PS3 MSs, for data transfer uses. Sounds about right, or for games that you can import your own characters on your own memory card.

Maybe I'm going mad, as I haven't seen my PS2 in a while, but doesn't a multitap provide a memory slot for each pad port? I.e. they felt with multitaps that it was neccessary to provide up to 8 memory ports, for each players save games or what ever.

Correct. The multitap adds an additional 4 slots for your memory card storage.

Well I saw PS3 system drawing in OPM US. It has 4 wireless contorler Indicators and 4 memory slots and the contorler looks the same to me.

The concept design from OPM you are talking about can be found in another thread.....

I really like this design, but I dont think it is an official design.

Yes, it’s a good design. I really hope that Sony must attach 4 control ports to ps3. :D

Sorry to say but that image is nothing special, its really just a photoshopped Sony Blu-ray recorder with some modifications.

Here is the original Blu-ray recorder:

And now here is the PS3 concept:

This last one is a great concept, except for the 2 controller ports again...whoever thought of that should be shot. I hate having to use multitaps if I only need 1 more port for a friend or whatever. It's ridiculous...

I like the concept of http://ps3portal.com/?page=ps3_picture_16
I just hope that it has a harddrive and built in Broadband Online access that has the same capabilities of X-Box Live, and beyond. Just having those two would mak me happy.

If the PS3 controllers aren't wireless, I hope they include the break-away cables like the XBox has. I can't tell you how many times I've seen those save an XBox from being pulled off the shelf.

Must've said it a good year or so ago, but it ends up being more profitable for Sony to do it that way. That way, people will buy the Multi-Tap. No matter how much you hate having to do it, you end up doing it anyway. Sony know what they're doing.....

That's not an example of Sony knowing what they are doing. It was a design flaw that most likely will be addressed for the PS3. The other 2 consoles had it, and will definitely have it next time around, so it would make sense for Sony to add 2 more ports to the PS3.

Nah, they did it on purpose. Those multitaps only cost a few bucks for Sony to make but they sell em for $35. This is also why the PS2 multitaps are not compatible with the PSTwo. XBox uses the same line of thinking for their DVD remote. The XBox always has the ability to play DVDs, however MS can make up some of their lost money by charging a decent amount to 'enable' the player.

The bad thing is that Sony missed out on the whole party-game genre because of their lack of controller ports. I don't think they'll make the same mistake this time around.

MUST HAVE 4 CONTROLLER PORTS FOR PS3!!!

Seriously. If they do the 2-port thing again, I'm going to abandon them completely.

Agreed. As of right now I'm planning on getting the XBox2 to see how it does. When the PS3 comes out, if it has everything its supposed to I'll pull a trade.

If it was a design flaw, then I'm sure they would've had it sorted out before the PS2 was released.

What about a wireless lan built into the machine?
That way, you could have an almost unlimited number of controllers connected + connectivity with the PSP.

Nothing is wrong with it to me, i play RPGS, action few other games which most of them is 2 players max . Also if online really take of will we need more than 2 control ports ? If they do put in more control ports i hope it does not make the PS3 bigger . one main reason i won't get x box is it's size have no space to put it. That's why my second system will be a GC just because it's smaller .

Side note i have a dvd player also ps2 dvd just don't cut it and i am upgrading to 7.1 and getting a bigger tv so space matter to me alot .It's like some guys that buy anime if it has to much dvds for the series and would take up to much space they don't buy it and not because of the price but shevel space.

side note most guys that i know that play games like that one being madden 35 for a Multi-Tap is a joke .

I'm just messing around. I'm going to buy it anyway ;) I usually end up buying all 3. There's just too many great games to miss out on. You know? I just hope they incorporate more controller ports this time around. It'd be very silly not to.

aack. I can't take the lag from wireless controllers/mice/keyboards. Call me a performance freak, but when I hit the shoot button I want to see bodies hit the floor.... immediate like

Weclome to forum. By the way how/Why do you think that wireless joystick is not that good compare to normal controller?

Z
12-31-2004, 03:35 AM
The only downside I see is the need to change batteries every couple of days. That is why I believe recharging is much more convenient than changing batteries. I never tried wireless controllers; I wonder how they stack up to normal ones?

Rallyracr420

I used a good logitec ps2 controller that worked damn well. I didn't notice one bit of lag ever, which seems to be the current marketing marketing angle for the controller makers. you'll see stickers on the box that say 'lag-free'. the only thing i didn't like about it was the grips on the sticks. my thumbs consistently were slipping off while playing gta.

I'm using a controller from JOYTECH, ther noting wrong with it.
Good handling, fine buttons and ZERO LAG AND FALL OUT!!!

EDIT: Happy NEW YEAR!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I never tried wireless controllers; I wonder how they stack up to normal ones? That's exactly what I'm afrad of -- Changing betteries. If the controllers don't come with some sort of craddle or docking bay, I'm just gonna stick with the regular wired controllers... So much easier to be able to pick up your controller and not worry about "Hey... I think my battery is dead."

Agreed. Means you all guys are looking for a wireless controller, which have been developed with built in rechargeable battery. In other words just like PSP.

Yeah, I would also be bummed if the wireless controllers were not rechargable, it would not be worth the time, or money(buying batteries constantly isn't very cost effective.) But I think the PS3 will come packaged with a standard wired controller, and than Sony will follow up by releasing it's wireless counterparts.
