Just wondering what you think the price of psp games will be?
I think around £25 for a good game at release maybe £30 at max.
What are the price of gameboy advanced sp and n-gadge games?

I can't really vote since I am not sure of the conversion rates. But I think most of the first PSP titles will cost around $30-40 American.
I suspect that once the console get established (and if UMDs are really that cheap) we might see titles as low as $15-20 American.

No the publishers would just keep all the money saved from using UMD's since we are already used to paying $30-40.

yea im expecting something below $40 USD and above $20 USD cause some games are just plain better and charge more cause thats what it is like on GBA cause the better games like FF:T is like 10 bucks more then Spongebob game

Well I take that it will be between $40 and $60 us because brand new games (good ones) cost around $35 and the PSP has way better grapical capiblitys so the price should be higher.
gamingmonkey2004
03-27-2004, 04:42 PM
why do you think it SHOULD be priced higher? if they can sell it for 35 bucks then they should do it not jack it up cause it looks good. I mean a consumer is already paying a pretty penny for the PSP they should keep the games pretty low. but hey its Sony not me

they will be between 20 and 40 bucks depending on how big of a name the title has. but most im guessing they will be around the 30 dollar range.

03-27-2004, 08:15 PM
yea like Death Jr. since it doesnt have a big time developer it would be like 25 tp 30 bucks. But with someone like Square-Enix it would push the price and make it like 40.

03-28-2004, 03:02 AM
i'd say $20-30 since Ken Kutaragi said he wanted to compete with GBA

true..but i mean look at death jr. then look at... Mario and luigi super saga big difference there

I think the PSP should come budled with a game and a movie when it comes out, and titles shoud be around 25 US, up here in Canada GB games are about $35-40 dollar range and they suck ass, if Sony has quality software for the same price, they can Slap Nintendo silly out of profits.
draco2004
03-30-2004, 01:09 PM
yeah but would they be able to make profit if they sale them so low and that is all that the game corps care about.

I'd have to say about 50 bucks, cuz thats about the highest possible price, And i like to prepared myself for the worst. I think the PSP price is $450 because again, I like to prepare for the wost. :D
But here are my serious estimates
$40 for da games (smaller disc size, cheaper discs)
$250-300 for PSP (N-gage retailed at $300
My thoughts on the PSP price
The N-gage sold for $300. Nobody bought it. The same thing is possible for the PSP. SOny needs to sell the PSP at a loss or with minimal game, otherwise no one will buy it. I dont think anyone will pay more than $250 for this console (except me lol cuz i want it baadd).
P.S
I really feel bad for nokia, they thought there system was the new thing and nothing can come close. Well the N-gage looks like garbage right now, And i'm expecting a HUGE price drop when the DS an PSP comes out. BTW, I heard nintendo is making the DS better looking, Cuz that thing is big and ugli.PSP smacked them this E3 LMAO!!

Is that how much GBA games are in the US? If so, then we're getting severly shafted over here.....

with the 3d graphics and online play the games offer they're gonna take a hit finacialy when it comes to distribution :?
gamingmonkey2004
05-19-2004, 02:36 AM
i think i remeber something about how the developers make the games and put them on a CD-R then send it to Sony then Sony puts them on the UMDs then distributes. i think it was to keep the piracy low and control of hte price or something

No matter how easy it is to program for the PSP you still gotta fill up that UMD, that takes time and a lot of money. Cartridges may be more expensive to produce but you can't fit in high quality texture, video or audio on it so production costs are MUCH less.
Therefore I recon the PSP games will be probably $10 more expensive then DS games. Although one also has to consider licensing fees, Nintendo charges loads and Sony not nearly, this is why 3rd parties prefer the PS2. So this just might keep the price down to the same level.

I think UMDs are quite cheap but seen as sony are burning them all themselves i think they might cost a bit to produce.

$50 USD
which isnt cool but i may change between now and the future

07-06-2004, 03:08 PM
lol. did you ever think of the fact that they can't know the prices and just set it as high as possible so they can decrease it to the real price when it is announced ?
if they would say they cost 10$ and then the price is 30$ the customers won't be happy because they preordered it for 10$ (and i even dont think it would be possible to increase the price for a preorderable product)
Though there isn't a set price yet, there's not a lot of point continuing this discussion.
