According to IGN's release date (http://ps2.ign.com/release.html?fromint=1), Devil May Cry 3 is listed as TBA 2005. And according to Kung Fu Cinema's article (http://www.kungfucinema.com/news/2003-11-24-01.htm), "Actress and Martial Artist Stephanie Cheeva, who is now in Japan doing motion capture for the new Devil May Cry video game..." NOTE: This won't be her first. She has already done motion capturing in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat.

That article is from November 11, 2003. Which is 10 months after Devil May Cry 2 came out, which indicates that it isn't for Devil May Cry 2. And this also indicates that Devil May Cry 3 will indeed features a female character(s), which isn't new to the series. The question now is whether we'll see old characters make a return (Trish, Lucia, and even Matier.) or a totally new one. Although that doesn't necessarily means there will be a playable female character. It could just be for FMVs.

We all know that Devil May Cry 3 was coming, the biggest concern was if it was going to be develop by Production Studio 1 (the team behind the dissapointing sequel) or by Production Studio 4 (team behind the original).

PSM stated that "Shinji Mikami realises the problem of DMC2, and has dedicated himself to bring the series back to its former glory." That certainly a great news for the fans of the series. Let us all hope that PS1 will be far away from the development. Or else I would be doing all the Crying.

Special thanks to lowhighkang over @ GameFAQS and Vash-the-Stampede of IGN.

I hope its done by the original team, but Mikami is a little anti-PS2.

Well, let's hope PS4 (Whoa, hey there, I meant Production Studio 4.) takes up the project. Personally, I didn't know that there was a change in production teams - I just assumed that Capcom was doing their usual of giving one of their great franchises a shitty sequel. (You know what I mean. At least, Resident Evil Survivor knows what I mean.) Despite the fact that DMC2 came in #4 on sales charts, it's obvious (According to the article.) that Capcom knows they screwed up. We'll just have to wait and see what Capcom does and hope for the best. I want things back the way they were! :P

By the way, Chris, what did you mean by "Mikami is a little anti-PS2?"

Yeah, I actually put PS1 and PS4 on the poll, but I figured that some people just wants to vote without readin the topic message so I edited it.

And as for Mikami being a lil anti-PS2, I think he meant because in some interviews Mikami tried to ditch Sony by claiming they make their machines un-stable (or something) and saying some other stuff. IMO, he's a bit of a Nintendo fanboy. Who would have thought that a guy you made his name in the industry with horror games likes playing Pokeman (I'm NOT trying to flame Pokeman in any way).

That's a shame - he's come up with some great game ideas. (The best examples, of course, being Resident Evil and DMC.) Nevertheless, his apparent bias hasn't effected the games themselves, so that's a good thing. (I doubt his views on the PS2 and Sony had any impact on the GC-Exclusive Resident Evil decision.)

The original DMC kicked ass. The 2nd licked it. But the the first Metal Gear:Solid kicked ass as well. The 2nd one was pretty much crap. The third one is most likely gonna kick more ass then the 1st. At least we hope. I think this happens when crators of games get unfocused or try to make a game with to many new ideas. Not that innovation is bad thing, but somethimes "innovations" just means it sucks big time. I bet he noticed all the screaminly bad reviwes and the torrent of fan complaints. Just like Kojima with MGS3, Mikami will try to make up for the mess he let happen with DMC2. I am hoping for better camera programming, higher multi-layered textures like KillZone and a larger enviroment like the new Castlevania. I also think it would be cool if they added to the combat sytem with a deeper skill tree for sword and weapon skills that Dante can learn. More combos as well, like Soul Caliber 1 and 2. Because as far as I am concerned, the combat was the reason that DMC killed the competion outright. And no more secondary characters. Why do we play DMC? Because Dante is cooler than ice. Screw any body else, including Trish from the first one. I dont want to play anybody characters, and put Danta in his old clothes, the new ones sucked.

I aree with everything you just said, except about MGS 2,which kicks ass.I also thought Dante's suit was dumb.I'd actually like to see a DMC prequel, where you play as Sparda!!!Anybody?,no,awwwww.The only chick that should be in DMC3(non-playable) is Trish.

i second this. i agree with eevrything Axia said except for the MGS2 comment, sure it wasn't as good as MGS1 but it wasn't that bad.

EDIT: i just barely bought Devil May Cry, im finding this hard to believe especially when i played the demo when it first came out. i thought the game kicked ass and i was planning on buying it all this time then earlier i was putting in my Pre-order for MX-Unleashed i remembered about it and it was only 12 dollars.

Raiden blew, adimit it. The game it self was not that bad(had lots of very kool features, and new moves), but for me, as soon as I had to play as Raiden, I was pissed off. He was a pansy ass dork. That is why Substance is way better. And the game was to short, had a terrible plot, cut scenes that were agonozingly too long, and and boss battles that were ho-hum. For all the hopes that I had for MGS2, it fell painfully short of what I expected from the experience of MGS1. Snake is the shit, and Snake/Big Boss(?) will kick even more ass in SnakeEater(I hope).

I also want to add one more idea for DMC3. Add in abilities like strength and dexterity that can increase with a skill point tree system akin to an RPG, but have the changes happen in real time combat. It would add more depth to Dante as how you played him a character. More Dex, he is faster, more STR he is stronger, more consitution he has more life, ect. Just a thought.

i dont really want any new strength mumbo jumbo. this is one of the reasons i liked DMC was because of its str8 high action fast paced fights and run in guns blazing type game then a small puzzle then back to the action was so cool. when i was 14 and the game first came out i thought his guns were the coolest thing since 2Pac, how he made them himself and named them Ebony and Ivory. Dante was just G'd Up, i just want then to bring back that feel or high action fun. but name it look nicer and last longer and more open areas.

DMC 2's story was none exsistent, the open city area's made the action a bore. The difficulty was extremly easy to frustratingly hard .Just wasn't well thought out.I liked MGS2's story(if a tad weird) was really good, and Raiden.....well,umm

Raiden sucked balls.

How on Earth did this end up being a discussion about Raiden?

And that spacing was hardly neccesary Chris.....

Because Kojima and Mikami want to make a joint project where Dante kills a variety of characters, including Raiden, Rebecca Chambers, the new Frogger, all the voice actors from the original Silent Hill, and that bitch from Clock Tower 3.

Anyway, there have been a lot of comparisons between DMC and MGS2, which is pretty understandable since they were both released for the holiday season. I always believed that, in addition to the hype, MGS2 gained more attention because it showcased a graphical upgrade that the gamer would immediately compare to the PSOne original. (Remember your reaction to the first MGS2 Codec sequence?) In a way, that gave it another advantage over Capcom's fairly unexpected title. But personally, I'd take Devil May Cry over MGS2 just because, in the end, I found it more rewarding. (I don't mean to talk bad about MGS2, but that's my opinion.)

regarding the catress used in the moition capture , i m sure it s gonna be trish ,the felame character , why not lucia .
and why not include a 2 player mode splitted or non splitted screen .
and a lot of ennemi top kill with all upgraded movements we could bu in DMC 1 and the esquives , rolling jump et wall jump from DMC .
or maybe could be interresting to have a 2 pleyer mode player one vs player2 like in ZOE 2 .and this time not forget a blocking system .
and of course 60 hertz mode  .

please mikami make it a good game , i doesn t matter if it is multiconsole , but make it ps2 too

Actually, that 2-Player fighting system sounds kind of cool, but I don't think it would work with the game's current gameplay mechanics. (One player could easily dominate if they get in the first hit.) By the way, I'd prefer the game (DMC3) stays exclusive or is not be released at all. DMC was an awesome exclusive, and got Capcom a lot of attention. (Personally, I think DMC is one of the reasons Maximo sold so well.) Going multi-console with the series would be a pretty big loss for us.

By the way, TEEDA, work on that English. :P
