It would be very nice to have atleast 4 controller ports on the PS3. If not that, then have a built in device that detects wireless controllers. A bit like the PS2 Remote, except with no plug-in. It would be built into the system face and you would just by a controller/remote/mouse/keyboard, whatever type of input device it is that you are using.

4 ports are a must, wireless would be an added bonus, I just hope they make the controllers with rechargeable Li-Ion batteries.

All NEW PS2's have a built in IR sensor (as well as a quieter fan) This is for both the black and silver modles.

They'll probably stick with 2 pads, then they will make money from the Multi-Tap. Just to be annoying, they will probably make the old one incompatible again.

Dont forget to leave the controller identical too! That way they have to spend less money developing a new controller. Hehe, then again, why mess with something that is already so good?

I just hope that they alteast have 4 ports. That's one of PS2's biggest flaws in my opinion and a lot of other people's opinions. Maybe it will happen.

it dont matter to me i can handle 2 controller ports. its usually just me and my cousins and friends going 1 on 1 in Madden or ATV Off Road Fury or in co-op in another game

4 ports would be nice but it's really not that big of a deal to me. If I really want 4 people to play my PS3 than I'll just spend 25$ and get a multi-tap it's really not that big of a deal. And as far as wireless is concerned I think it would be cool but I don't really care if they go wireless or not. Don't get me wrong or anything I'm going to go wireless if they have it but it's just not that big of a deal to me.

Theres realy not much to improve on.Maybe they could introduce 2 more shapes so there would be 6 face buttons. Also they could bring the L2 and R2 buttons down to a more relaxing position. If the controller was to be wireless i'd think they should place a on/off switch,4 control ports would be nice but personaly i dont really like the screen slit 4 ways.

PSDreamer, you do know that your Avatar is a fake PS3 logo, don't you. And what you are looking for is Bluetooth as a wireless system.

Bluetooth, DVD remote. 4 controllers, and there has to be ports in the console for the chargers for each controller. Like a small DC adapter for each controller, OR a seperate conector with 4 DC bits on the same wire for each controller, each controller and the remote will have the same or better power usage as the Logitech MX700 mouse, if you have one you will know what im talking about.

another one, multi disk like 3 or 4 disks in at once were you can just change with the remote, ive dreamed of being able to have my fav games in at once so I can play each whenever without having to get out of my chair, and be able to turn off the console with the remote too bigger plus :D

I think that if any changes come about to the actual controller, it should be recessed L2 and R2 buttons, such as on the smaller wireless ps2 controllers that have been released recently. if sony doesn't put at least 4 controller ports on the ps3, i'm sure there will be much anger in the sony community. i think not including 4 ports would be like shooting yourself in the face with an elephant gun. the wireless controller idea is a good one, though...that could set apart sony from anything nintendo or microsoft could even touch sony, then.

Sony should just take a good look at the Nintendo WaveBird... That's just simply a beutifull peace of controller hardware. Though I hope they use rechargeble batteries that can be charged on a stand or whatever, so that they can keep the vibration function that the WaveBird controller sadly misses...
There should also be a Standby-button on the controller, and perhaps an analog throttle/steer/whatever wheel around the face buttons.

Sony need to get their cheap ass brains off the silk cover pilliows they lie on at work and include 4 ports and have wireless as a standard or 2 versions on with it a conroller that is and one that it is the regular cord. They are so cheap 2 controller ports ... are we still living in the 16 bit days or something ...

wow yeah their so cheap they invest money to develop their own GPU and CPU. instead of using second hand PC parts for their console. wow their so cheap
