I am a large Sony fan... Back in the old days, I had the NES, Then the Sega Genesis, then the Nintendo 64, and then.... The Playstation.
It was truly a great day, When I unrapped that silver lining and tore off the bow, even though I was the one who payed for it, I wrapped it up anyways. The package contained the Playstation and the best new game: Final Fantasy 7! I was only 11, but this was truly an amazing feat... I was accompanied by 16 other playstation games, and eventually sold my PSone and all of its friends for the brand spanking new PS2. I was 12. This PS2 was great. My neighbourhood started to have PS2 nights at my house it was amazing! I had GTA3, GT2 and a few others.... This was so great...Then I started getting hooked on Jet Set Radio Future, on my friend's Xbox, unfortunately this got the best of me, and I sold all my PS2 stuff for the wonderful Xbox! Now I have the xbox with 4 games...But I am still longing for all my good old RPG's...(I only like Japanese Stuff) I am pretty much half asian at heart, and LOVE all the Japanese Games... Especially Final Fantasy. FF7 Was my favorite game ever, and now I hear about this PSP??? This is great... I WAS going to get A game boy advance SP, but then, I go to pspinsider.com and I find out that this will be using the NURBS technology, etc. This thing will have better gfx, than PSone??? Say it ain't SO! Well, here is my question::
****If you could have any Final Fantasy on the PSP what would it be?****
This is truly the question I have been wanting to ask everyone, I know it would be FF7 for me...the gripping romantic plot...the lovely characters...but what about you??? What Final Fantasy do you want to be on the PSP???
Final Fantasy VII is the best Final Fantasy game up till now, and to be honest I think that it will stay like that. I would love to see Final Fantasy VII on the PSP even though I've got the game already. It would just be something that I'd want.
I think that any of the Final Fantasy games would be goo don the PSP, but I've made my choice anyway.

Yes, but also, I think I should have putten Final Fantasy Tactics on there too, because that was another of my favorite games...Final Fantasy VIII was suprising highly good in my books, because it was very rich in story... I never had IX, but ive heard good things about it
There are some pretty sweet romance plots in FF7 and FF8, and even though my age is low, I love that... It makes me all warm and fuzzy
FFVIII was alright. The main problems were the magic system and some certain parts of the storyline.
"Oh yes, we all knew eachother as children, but GF's made us lose our memory."
What the hell was that all about?

That is because a Guardian Force takes a lot of "brainspace" to be used. It's strange off course, but it didn't bothered me.
Of all the Final Fantasy's, FFVIII was the one world which I really wanted to live in. I love it, FFVII is also very good. but FFVIII touched me. The storyline, the world (especially Balamb Garden), the characters (I love Selphie), the music, the Guardian Forces (Shiva is the most beautifull summon ever, especially in FFVIII) and the junction-system.
If they make one remake, it has to be FFVIII, but I also want a sequel of FFVII. I want to known what happens after you see RedXIII and his offspring (how did he get children?) watching green Midgar on a cliff.
That is because a Guardian Force takes a lot of "brainspace" to be used. It's strange off course, but it didn't bothered me.
I knew about that, it's just that I found it a bit ridiculous. But then, all of the other FF storylines a pretty far-fetched.

the most touching part in ff8 is the story between laguna and raine. almost make me cry when watching the ending movie. but i love to see ff7 is remade, spined-off or probably updated.
I've always said to everyone that FFVII with FFX graphics would be great.

I liked the battle graphics of FFVII more than FFVIII and FFIX.

It looked more slick and smooth compared to the pixels of FFVIII and FFIX.
Only because it didn't look as great, but I suppose you're right.

I wanted to vote for eithe FF7 or 8, but all I've played are FF7,8,&10; so I dont know about the others...
FF8 IMHO improved the gameplay of the engine, but FF7's story line and wow factor were way up there.
...psp face lifted FFVII would be great (besides, I never finished it - everytime I got to disc 3 or so the discs would crap out, owned 3 copies, and never finished   )

what about FFIX, that's my fav FF. FFVII was too short. or maby i'm just better. FFIX was my first and fav FF. I loved the ads for FFVII, but I couldn't get it cause I had N64. I played FFIX on my cousins PS and now practically all I play are RPGs. Then I got PS2 and played/beat FFX (3rd fav), Then I borrowed my friends FFVII and beat that. and I got 1-6 emulated for NES/SNES.
PS
I played tactics advanced somwhere in there.

O yeah, I liked FFIX cause of the dark mages, I loved that type.

I liked the battle graphics (and battle system) for FF VIII more. I seem to be the only person who liked it. :(
BTW, FFVII and the others might not be able to fit onto one UMD because it's 3X the size of CDs but they would be upgrading it so it would have to take more space. But I suppose that might be solved by not having to have the character models and what not 3X over (you know, for each disc) since you would only need it once on a single UMD.

I wonder if it's possible to swich UMD's like you do discs during a game. If it is possible then FF7 can have as many as it needs.....
They would probably be able to come up with some way of doing it. They managed it with PSOne games.....
CloudANDTidus
12-13-2003, 08:36 PM
Yeah but the thing is that PSone uses disks. All disc systems have been able to swap discs mid game, heck, in some games you can remove the disc and keep playing (this stops when the game needs to load).
But a UMD is a disc inside a cartridge, and as far as I know, no cartridge system has been able to change cartridge mid game. Look at the gameboy for instance......
So, I wonder if it is possible........

The reasom regular cartridges can't be takken out durring game play is that the curcuitry on the card and the console esentially be come one, and any disturbance would crash the computer. The cartridge for the psp is just a protective shell, like 3.5 inch floppys have. The plastic cover is only for scratch protection, disc swapping games would be allowed, no problem. (just like 3.5 inch floppy swapping is ok)
Newer technologies that allow swapping of rom/eeprom curcuits (modern equivelent to the old rom game cartridges) while the power is on are all over the place; ps1/2 memory cards, usb memory sticks, compact media flash cards, ect. Today's tech is much more friendly than that of 5, or 10 years ago.
Hope this helps.

it mite not b ff8 because that was 4 disks rite? NOw the average disk has about 700mb of space and since there are 4 there will be 2.8GB of space needing to fit on the 1.8GB UMD.
for those of ya who cant speek nerd, the disk probably wont have enough space to hold ff8.

But if you had just read the above posts you would have read that it is very likely you will be able to change discs.....so no space problem.

In FF7 and 8, about 1/2 of the on disc info was the same (the actuall game), the only difference was the fmv. ff7 could fit as is on 1.5 gig or so ff8, 2 gig max.
But if you had just read the above posts you would have read that it is very likely you will be able to change discs.....so no space problem.
No prob.
What about release a bundle package that includes all three games? Something like "The Playstation's Final Fantasy Trilogy" that includes VII, VIII, and IX.
If they were to release VII, VIII and IX, I think that they would probably release them seperately. That way they would make more money. Although I would like to see them in a bundle, I just think they would do it the other way.

what about 2 trilogy bundles 1 set could contain ff 7 8 9, 2nd one ff 10, x-2, xii
I could see the first bundle happening, but I don't know about the second.

Squaresoft, being one of the bigger developers, will probably go for a probe game first, (Think Genma Onimusha or Silent Hill 2 for X-Box.) which may or may not be a Final Fantasy title. (A port would be very realistic, especially if it offered an exclusive cut-scene or a bunch of extra sub-quests offering new items.) However, once the PSP has gained a large enough audience, I think Square will start bringing out the big guns, such as a Final Fantasy bundle or a PSP-exclusive title. That's just my prediction, though.

True...True...
I've played all the final fantasys (well except for the three first) and I have to say that all of them were perfect (except for X).
I bet that the PSP will be able to handle a PSX emulator (well not at full speed and not for all games) but the problem is, where the hell are we going to put the roms?(we could probably put the small games on the Memory Stick)
If a UMD-rw or something like that comes out, then we're saved (altough it probably won't)....If not, tough shit, we probably wont play FF VII or later on our PSPs

all the ff7's were amazing. i guess 7 interested me the most, cuz i was only like 10 or 11 or 12. I loved that game, still do.
9 and 10 were all nice aswell, 10 was playable for such a long time, with the dark aeons and hidden aeons and ultimate weapons, phew!
but yeah, a reworked ff7,9 or 10 would make my day. Unless a new and good ff is released.

Maybe there's something behind why SE brings FFVII AC to UMD/PSP.
They might have FFVII remake for PSP which could boost the popularity and sales of the movie.

I'd rather them wait for PS3 and remake either FF7 or FF8,now that would really be incredible, greatest story combined with greatest graphics, all in real-time,they would sell a shit load. They could do so much to them games, make them even more legend.People who haven't played those games may have been put off by the fact that it's an old PS1 game and looks like crap,I'm sure everone thats played the games would buy a PS3 version of them, and they would bring in alot more people to the series. They really should consider this.
I agree... FF7 remake on the PS3 would be awesome in many aspects i wouldnt doubt it for a second...
feature idea; Allow your characters to be ported to the PSP so you can challenge people when traveling... take elements from pokemon for example, walk around fight people beat them and take an item of your choice?... depending on the rules you set :)
FF7 remake wouldnt be needed on PSP for a while as FF7-2 Game/Movie is being realsed... as you kno its coming on dvd as a movie but the psp movie has game feature also.. its rummored you actualy take part in the fight scenes, were the outcome of the fights decide the outcome of the movie.. mulitple endings.. so its rummored

I would like any final fantasy to be remade for the psp but the one that
I will look for first is FF7. It's one of the greatest games IN THE
WORLD. Plus, in most places, it's still voted best final fantasy.
If any of you on here watch the G4techtv show filter (a show exclusivly
for voting on games) you would see that ff7 is the greatest.
In case anyone was curious the results were as followed:
Best male character
1 Cloud (ff7)
2 Auron (ff10)
3 Vincent (ff7)
4 ***Sorry cant read it from my notes***
5 Squall (ff8)
Best female character
1 Earith (ff7)
2 Tifa (ff7)
3 Riku (ff10)
4 Yuna (ff10)
5 Lulu (ff10)
Best Summon
1 Knights of the round (ff7 only)
2 Bahamut (multiple ff)
3 Shiva (multiple ff)
4 Anima (ff10 only)
5 Ifrit (multiple ff)
Best Boss
1 Sephroth (ff7)
2 ***Sorry cant read it from my notes***
3 Semore (ff10)
4 Kefka (ff3, i think)
5 Sin (ff10)
Overall best Final Fantasy
1 FF7
2 FF10
3 FF8
4 FF6
5 FF (the origanal one)

When I wrote this down I was in a hurry so some of them I couldn't read.
By the way, on best female character Earith (the ancient, Cetra) can
actully be spelled "Earith" so don't say anything about a typo (on that
anyway). Also if anybody noticed that I put a wrong FF number please
post it once (and only ONCE).
I had played most of the final fantasy games (except Final Fantasy
adventure, and FF11) and the numbers of the games were not included in
the polls, I added those myself from memory.

I saw the show a little while back and if my memory serves me correctly, I think it was Kuja from FF9 that was 2nd. I seem to remember them showing him along with the other baddies, saying how he looked harmless but had all this power, or something like that. I can't help you on the best male one though. I either can't remember it or I tuned in too late to see it. Thinking about it know, I seem to remember them talking about it, and I want to see Locke from FF6 was there, but I'm probably just throwing that in there. Most of the list I agreed with, except for a few parts. IMO, Bahamut is the best summon, not KOTR, especially since he is in more than one. I know every FF I played, since like FF4, I always waited to see what Bahamut looked like.
One of my favorite FF's in FF6, which seems to be WAY too low in that list, IMO. In fact, it is 2nd on my list of FF's, sometimes being 1st depending on how I am viewing it and FF7. Right now, I got FF7 at the top, but I always seem to flip-flop between the 2.
Kind of hard for me to pick which one I like better...oh well, Xenogears is better than both of them.
(runs away)

Uh..yeah...I guess I'd like them to put FF7 on the PSP since it is at the top of my list...

the best summons, ever, are:
1. KOTR in ff7, because he was hard as hell to get, but so damn powerful.
2. Anima and three magi in FFX, because they were hidden sort of, and ultra powerful.
One of the worst was Ark in ff9, it was so weak for a final summon.

well after FF origins was released there where a lot of people mad because they had said that they where going to remaster FF3 first so a string of artical started poping up in mags and on the web so they square released a letter saying that they would release a remake of ff3 in the near future and that they planed to remaster all the games on the nes and super nes on to more updated systems so that a new generstion of gamers that had played ff7,8,9 or 10 and feel in love with the series could see the humble beginings of the titian series.....the artical is like 5 or 6 months old but i will look for it on the web i'm sure it's here somewhere so i'll look.

09-15-2004, 01:09 AM
In a way, they were. I think FF 4-6 were released along with Chrono Trigger, IIRC, on the PS1 with a few extras. I think they were divided into two games but I can't remember what went with what. I think FF5 and 6 went together while FF4 and CT went together. I think the two games were called FF Anthology and FF Chronicles. I think I checked out at least one of them just to see what they added. Seeing the SNES characters in a FMV was pretty cool.
I'm not sure if FF3 was on the PS1 though. Like draco hinted at, there was also FF Origins, but I don't think that had FF3, just the 1st 2. I haven't paid much attention though to anything about Square-Enix bringing back FF3 or any other game for that matter in a while though. According to draco's post, they plan on doing more, which doesn't surprise. I'd probably check them out even though I already played them all. I just love those early FFs.

09-15-2004, 10:39 PM
I'm a bit too young to have played the NES FF games. I tried playing them on an emulator later on, but I never really was able to get into them. For some strange reason, I guess SNES graphics and stuff is the lowest I'll go when I play a game. It is unfortunate since I really wanted to play all of them through, but I couldn't really do it. I thought about getting the remastered ones in Origins since they look a little better graphically, but I never got around to it. I'll probably check it some time though. If worse comes to worse, the true gamer in me will force me to play through the original ones even if it doesn't look as good as I would like it to.
Favorite on the SNES was FF6, although I also really liked FF4. My favorite on the PS1/PS2 is definitly FF7. In fact, it is one of my favorite games of all-time with only Xenogears ahead of it. I'm pretty happy because I never owned it until about 6 months ago. I originally rented it and beat it then...boy, was that a heck of a late charge. :D
But anyways, I had borrowed Parasite Eve from friend of mine, but I kept it for a while. I forgot about it for a while, but I finally remembered and tried to give it back to him. He then proposed a trade of PE for an extra copy of FF7 that he had. I didn't really understand him, but I guess getting the game for free is a good deal. It was pretty awesome playing it again and getting that nostalgic feeling again.
So, as my post clearly shows, Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest should be remade for the PSP. And yeah...that probably doesn't make any sense.

well i could deal with the grapics of the nes because it was better then the atari and way better then pong grapicaly and that was all there was so it did'nt bother me and i'm sure you have seen this some where but i own every game in the series and my fav. on nes is 3 i liked 4 but 3 better ( thats where iferit was first seen) then on ps i like..love ff7 then 8 then 10 then 9 then 10-2( i did'nt like 10-2 or 9 at all) but 7 and 8 where cool.

Wait a minute...how could you say FFX has the best storyline when you just started the game? I guess if you only have played it and FFX-2, then I guess it would win by default. ;)
I personally don't think FFX is that close to FF7 story wise...or much else really, except for maybe graphics. (duh!)

ffx is the best storyline, my ass. ff7 sticks out head and shoulders storyline-wise above all other final fantasies.

Mainly what I like from ff7 was the story and characters which made it the best ff game of the series so I think id rather see ff7 remake though I played ff 8, 9, and 10 which are also good ff games too but since ff10 I stopped liking the new ff's games, then ff10-2 like wtf?
FF10-2 was the wost RPG ive played in a long time.. FF7 was easily the best RPG of the Final Fantasy series and easily up there with a chance of being best of all time, the story the characters and the atmosphere and feelings you have for the characters was like no other game! you get dragged rite in there with FF7... never been so worked up about revenging someones death before! *sobs Aries!!!!* hehe

1) zeo your avatar is WAY! to big make it 100x100
2) in GameInformer they had an article about hte top 25 most influencal games ever and FFVII was in it.
3) REMAKES SHOULD DIE!! i would rather have Dirge of Cerebrus on PSP then a stupid remake of 7

I think the DS will get Final Fantasy 1-6 (I+II on GBA, rest on DS). I think that as soon as Sony lifts the ban on ports, we will Final Fantasy 7,8 and 9 on the PSP. I would love to see 9 there, and 7 as well. But most of all, 8, because my 8 ps1 disk is broken and I can never finish it.

I think that as soon as Sony lifts the ban on ports, we will Final Fantasy 7,8 and 9 on the PSP. Depending on your definition of a port, it seems like Sony has already lifted the ban on ports when you look at some of the games for the PSP, which of course would probably sell great. I would assume that they would have no problem letting Square-Enix develop a PSP port of any of the Final Fantasy games.

Yes, I think Sony would run up and hug Square enix (metaphorically speaking, of course) if they announced any type of release for psp. Of course, they ARE on the developers list and have received the development kit...
...hopefully we'll see something soon :D
