FROM THE IGN BOARDS:
Score: 9
"This title manages to maintain the essense of the 'Fire Emblem' series while evolving on a level appropriate for it being the latest title in the series, including the transition to 3D and the incorporation of movies featuring full voice. The game gets extra points for the ease with which it allows the player to exploit the new features the title offers, such as ramming into enemies, shopping at bases, and the ability to have conversations. The degree of completeness offered by the game's difficulty level selection and featured tutorial also makes it easy for series beginners to jump right in."
Score: 9
"Through featuring satisfactory production values and making the difficulty level more accessible while simultaneously preserving the essense of the series, this title represents a fine example of what a game franchise entry should be. The game gets high points for not coming off as drawn-out and repetitive, benifitting from quick loading times and smooth transitional sequences that give it a good tempo. With the inclusion of a high-difficulty mode to appeal to hardcore fans of the series, the title has no real flaws."
Score: 8
"A quality simulation game that offers a top-notch fusion of nostalgic and brand-new elements. The existing system has been greatly enhanced with the inclusion of new elements such as character development in a refreshing manner that is both easy to grasp and offers rewarding play. Additionally, a story that effectively draws in the player and 3 different levels of difficultly make the game extremely accessible to all kinds of gamers."
Score: 8
"The marked jump in the quality of the visuals seems to have made the field difficult to make out. However, the title does a huge service to fans by featuring the series' first inclusion of movies. Still, the insufficiency of actual game content bothers me somewhat. On the game system side, despite featuring an unprecended degree of additions and changes, the essence of 'Fire Emblem' is still there -- an applause-worthy aspect one would expect from the series."
Total: 34/40
Good review, good score - better than I expected.
