Controller ports? Am I the only one who doesn't see any? Most PS2 owners are awaiting PS3 and will probably pass this up especially since it won't have a market friendly price tag. I don't see it doing well.

...I'll just call it a PStwo? Y'know, like the PSone?

Or am I still mistaken?

After Sony's huge E3 announcement earlier this month regarding its upcoming entry into the handheld gaming market -- with the new PSP system -- another big revelation hit Japan this morning. Sony has officially announced its new PSX console -- an upgraded PlayStation 2 system -- which it is marketing as a home entertainment system.
Featuring a DVD recorder, 120 GB hard drive, internet functionality and a TV tuner, the PSX will allow users to download different forms of media from the internet, as well as watching movies, listening to music and of course playing PS2 games. There's also speculation that the hard drive will allow users to record TV shows -- like ReplayTV or TiVO -- with the option of then burning content to DVD.
That says it plays games. No controller ports. WTF.

if you think about it, in some ways they are probably copying the manuever NINTENDO did with the Gameboy Advance(now SP) - just upgrading the system to keep it more "up-to-date"... that is all... dont get mad at SONY for that

It's not like i liked THAT idea either...
They should have spent that money and all those resources on creating a NEW handheld...
Something truly fresh and updated...

It's a home entertainment with the ability to play PS2/PS1 games, not a PS2 with new features.

Why are you such a smartass?
And the controller ports are in the back. Guess how many? Two. Geez. Sony is stupid.

That was my understanding. But it does give way to calling the next Nintendo, NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) like was mentioned earlier by Pigobenus.
Then again, maybe not.

Ick! The thing looks every bit as crappy as did the Q! I hope they don't plan on selling it in the US, at least not looking like that.

PSX was the original name for PSone. The name PSone is the name of the newer, smaller version that was released. I'm not 100% one when the name came around, but I'm pretty sure it was there from the beginning. Who really cares anyway?
