According to Gamespot, it's just Conker on the N64 with some extra scenes and some Live options.

First an underwhelming cellshaded game about Ghouls, and now this :(

I'll get it when it goes down in price, to play online. And it's the N64 game with updated graphics/textures and some new stuff that didn't make it into the N64 version.

I never played the first one so...why not get this.

Alright dumbasses... listen up:

THIS IS AN EARLY DEVELOPMENT SHOT! The game was announced only a week ago, and they wanted to show *SOMETHING* for E3. Textures out of whack? They're called PLACEHOLDERS. Rough edges? PRELIMINARY LEVEL DESIGN.

For a bunch of kids that claim to know everything about games, you guys sure sound stupid right now. Give the game another two or three months and you'll see more refined images of the game.

It's called development... and games go through it.

Now where did i hear that before?

At least i'll admit this game looks like ass and not go to a total cop out like that certain someone. :p

Your such a hypocrite Prince.

Thats gay that this is just basically a port with updates. I was expecting a full blown sequel. Rare has lost their magic touch :(

Then [Microsoft] should've just...not shown footage.

Sounds familiar?

They didn't show footage besides a short 30 second trailer; these are gameplay shots.

Silicon Knights has made 1 game for GCN. And in Rare's entire history they have never made a port, i think that means the start of their downhill talent to develop.

And unlike the Conker port, Twin Snakes looks good:p Can't forget awesome Eternal Darkness, and Too Human which is in development.

Because they are overhyped and overrated

Eternal Darkness on the other hand was underrated by the consumer

Prince

Eternal Darkness bombed in sales. Even Conkers Bad Fur Day, the game released at the end of N64's lifespan sold double the amount of copies :evillaugh

I'd be "dissing" Grabbed by the Ghoulies, as I have absolutely no interest in it, yes. But if Conker were online for the GCN like the Xbox, I'd want it.

From Rare's website:

From the team that brought you the hugely popular Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel comes a spirited new gameplay experience, crammed to the rafters with new faces and a bony handful of twists on genre expectation. At last, after months of speculation over the name, E3 2003 has arrived and Grabbed by the Ghoulies is here.

As you might expect, the game is overflowing with spectres, zombies and other sepulchral misfits, notably those resident in the shadowy depths of Ghoulhaven Hall. Framed by jagged bolts of lightning and leering down from its high clifftop overlooking the sea, the Hall isn't a place that anyone would willingly venture into - unless, of course, they were left with no choice. As if on cue, meet the game's central player Cooper, forced into this very position when the Ghoulies take advantage of the raging storm to swoop down and spirit away his girlfriend...

What follows is a frenetic chase through long-standing haunted house tradition, complete with sinister aristocrats, cobweb-choked rooms and a gentlemanly butler, but also with a few Rare twists and surprises thrown into the mix. Gameplay is focused on making progress towards the heart of the house by solving puzzles or beating back all the enemies in each room, using any means available: the interactive and destructible nature of Cooper's surroundings gives him the opportunity to use practically anything as a weapon, including most of the furniture and bits of his fallen foes. Which is just as well, because our hero will often be greatly outnumbered and have to fight off whole gangs of Ghoulies simultaneously - it's fluid and fast-paced comedy violence all the way.

If you think all this sounds straightforward, however, think again. Tracking down the damsel in distress is only the tip of the iceberg, as it gradually becomes apparent that there's a lot more to this haunted house scenario than meets the eye. Plus there are always more immediate concerns: in addition to the constant onslaught from Ghoulies in all their guises, there are specific heart-pounding frights in store that might just lay Cooper out flat if you don't help him to overcome the shock, and locked rooms that will only open on completion of one of the Hall's many Challenges. Even then, rooms will often be visited and revisited with a different surprise in store every time, and with performance ratings and special features accessed through the collection of Bonus Books, the gauntlet of Ghoulhaven Hall bears more than one run through for those of its guests who think they have the nerve.

If all this leads you to expect vast amounts of fun with a healthily modest dose of seriousness, then you've got a pretty good idea of what to expect when Grabbed by the Ghoulies comes home later this year as Rare's very first Xbox release. Look for it then - or we'll be looking for you.

very big letdown for me . . i was so expecting a huge graphic overhaul, but its more like a N64 port than anything.

if this the work rare has come up with after all this time under M$, it doesn't look too good for them.

The reason Too Human has taken so long was because they went 2nd party with Nintendo, so they had to change everything, and Eternal Darkness was delayed so it could get on the cube. They do have long development times, but I'd prefer a good game that takes long to develop than some cheap piece of crap that they just threw out.

I get that some of you like Xbox and all, and they have good games but why bother defending this, it does not look good at all, even if the graphics were improved, it's still just a port. Why not focus on something with more potential?

Another part of Rares magic was it's access to the N64s microcode allowing the system to do things other developers could not. Nintendo didn't give them access to GCs micro code to do SFA and it shows. Look what happens when they lose key staff members and lose access to the micro code, and they don't have the micro code to the x-box either. Rare is not as good without the micro code to help it look good. Place holder textures, Prince please. Look at the fence. Those are finalized textures. The only graphical difference will be a higher resolution just like LOZ:OOT on the GC.
