Not bad at all. (http://cnn.aimtoday.cnn.com/news/story.jsp?floc=FF-RTO-robtz&idq=/ff/story/0002%2F20041125%2F0243742990.htm&sc=robtz&photoid=20041112NYET345)

And with the DS just now dropping, by January, Nintendo could be seriously rolling in some cash.

Yea, Nintendo has really been getting better lately. The commercials, ads, the DS, generating hype and so on - yay Nintendo.

Well, Nintendo really has started to get their acts together. Too problem it's really too late for the GameCube. They should focus alot of energy into the Revolution, making it appeal to the American audience (by not making it purple), and really making it "revolutionary."

If the DS is a test for what the revolution will bring, I see good things.

Nintendo could rape Retro's ass so hard that they make atleast a good FPS online multiplayer game for a Revolution launch title.

Well the color aspect of wat ur sayin is stupid. Nintendo release the Cube in 3 colors, but mainly advertised the purple. Nintendo likes the color purple because it represents royalty and want top of the line products in their customers hands.
I believe that nintendo's second most favorite color will become platinum. Platinum is a hardcore, techno-futuristic color that appeals to everyone

Sounds very interesting.

Who cares about the color....it is what the system and the games can do that really counts.

I see actually like the color, though I see it as a blue, not a purple. I thought the black was too black...I haven't really been impressed by handhelds personally. I think they are nice to have for those couple of long trips a year, but besides that I don't like sitting around my house playing my gameboy when I could be playing a game with more features on the GameCube and that has enough games for my "gaming" time.

I have a feeling the Revolution will have a port for the DS, as in you can connect it to your DS without that ghey link cable. Hopefully they don't make that there focus though this time...

I also hope though they don't make on line their focus either. Games were created to entertain ones self. On line games are fun but the one player mode seems to loose its touch in them. For example, to me, Halo's one player mode is quite boring. Shooters seem to be the only on line games that are a big success, well sport games too. If you look at the people who play on line, they are most likely playing a shooter. In which case, on line may loose its height and "importance" because people will grow tired of them. You can only play Perfect Dark and Timesplitters Two for so long.

I read the article on the PSP and they did bring up so good pointers. I consider the PSP like the Game Gear. The Sega Genesis did better than the Super Nintendo, but the handheld did not. The Game Gear had good graphics for a handheld at the time and some games, but it did not compare to the old black and white GameBoy. Though gamers are starting to consider graphics the "main" thing, which irritates me, but may lead to very high PSP sales, along with the Playstation fanboys....

omfg... It almost like Nintendo closed down months ago, and a whole new company by the same name took over. Maybe it is because I never had an SNES or NES (I hear how they were aimed at Adults and things back then) but this is not the company I used to know and love.

As stupid as it sounds, I think this "new" Nintendo is taking a risky move. They may be acting to hastily trying to shape up their image to realize that they may be losing their market with the kiddies. If that happens, they will end up right back where they started, just with too much of an adult image...

For example: let's suppose I am 10 years old again and I want a DS so freakin' bad. I am watching TV in the living room and my mom is reading the newspaper. The Wildboyz commercial comes on and I'm like Hey mom THAT's the new DS. Would she want me playing a system with the slogan "touching is good..."

I must agree, Nintendo is really kicking it into high gear as of late, I cannot wait for 2005, it looks like it will be the year on Nintendo with thier killer apps coming up (Resident Evil 4, LoZ, A NEW KIRBY!!!!, advance wars, fire emblem, giest, etc. etc.) and the amazing titles in the works for the DS I just cannot wait!!

Now I just wanna know why Nintendo would want to rape one of their own subsideries.

Just to let everyone know......this is just the oporating income...... So basically they haven't accounted for the investing and financing sections of accounting in this figure.....

Ok...ok.... I'll quit with the accounting stuff....

These are great numbers nonetheless..... considering the fact that their expected revenue from the DS alone for the next six months is $750,000,000 (which means before expenses.....and does not include the games) I'd say nintendo is in the runnings for an even larger increase by their next accounting period.

About the color, I couldn't care less either. Fortunately, I'm not one of the people that makes my purchases based on color.

And some people may like the color, but I sure as hell don't, and neither does the majority of the mainstream society. The fact that it symbolizes royalty means nothing if society isn't willing to buy the image Nintendo is trying to sell.

If I saw a GameCube, with it's Barney colors and lunchbox handle sitting next to the sexy PS2 and the "cool" American Xbox without knowing anything about the three consoles except that their graphics are similar, I'd pick the PS2 and Xbox every time.

GameCube is an utter marketing failure. If they would have marketed the black and platinum colors over the purple, I guarantee that they'd have swayed a bigger userbase their way. Hell.. if they would have marketed anything before release, it would sway a userbase their way. It's sad but true.

If you've seen their recent ads, its usually the platinum cube. The purple was what they used at launch, and since that was a "bad idea", they quickly switched. I don't even see the purple in internet, magazine, or any form of medium's ads.
