^Seems to me that if Rare doesn't start improving, Microsoft is gonna be screwed.

Yeah. Rare and spong have quite a relationship :evillaugh

"This seems a little strange, given that a Perfect Dark game and a Conker game have been touted by Microsoft officials as being in development for some time. Can it really be true that Kameo is alone at Rare?

$375 million is a lot of money for one game… "

Link (http://spong.com/index.asp?art=4275)

What does Rare think? Lets see...

Dear Scribes,
PLEASE!!! Be careful what you say in Scribes. You said in your latest update, in reference to what titles Rare was working on, that your guess was as good as mine. Well, the response to that was a certain site posted that because you said that, that Rare was ONLY working on Kameo. Well, being a forumer, I was immediately beset by idiots and PS2 and GC fanboys saying that Rare was a terrible developer because they can only do one game at a time. Please, do not give me a week of hell again.
Thanks,
Remy

http://www.rareware.com/scribes/rare_reply.gif "Ah yes, that superb and reliable site that only ever prints concrete, proven information. I know the one. Honestly, if anyone believes that a developer the size of Rare would only be working on one game at a time, well... having lost all faith in humanity long ago, I suppose I wouldn't be surprised.

I still don't know the finer details of the company's future plans, but I do know that unless something goes violently, pig-stickingly wrong between now and E3, we'll certainly have more than just Kameo on show."

Link (http://www.rareware.com/scribes/index.html)

-------

I think spong should of read the Rare press release (http://www.rareware.com/release.html) that said "Also under development is the highly anticipated sequel to "Perfect Dark." The company is expecting to develop at least five games over the next two years in a variety of genres, including racing, shooters and platformers."

Boy i love spong. I can always trust them for my gaming news :D

There used to be a fever of anticipation for their games, now it's become a yawn. Rare has lost most of its talent and Nintendo knew this. The games shown at E3 will be early in developement ( except Kameo of course ).

You sure? Perfect Dark (http://cube.ign.com/articles/088/088849p1.html) seems to have been in development for a long time (2000). A Banjo Kazooie 3 demo (http://cube.ign.com/articles/083/083979p1.html) was shown in 2000 as well as Donkey Kong Racing (http://cube.ign.com/articles/136/136565p1.html) revealed in 2001 which has supposedly been renamed to Sabre Man stampede and uses the same engine.

We'll see how far they've come along at this years e3 :)

The Only thing Id Keep an Eye on from Rare is Perfect Dark. Other than that, Without onkey Kong that gay Stampede game is gonna suck ass.

Everyone, this is not a rare topic!!!

I wonder if Mario Kart could ever have a story mode in addition to grand prix, single race, and multi player. What do you think???? any ideas?

Anything to get this thread back on subject.

1) do you really want to quote scribes at a source of information -- these are the same peopel that implyed that killer instinct III was in dev for the 64

2)
The company is expecting to develop at least five games over the next two years in a variety of genres, including racing, shooters and platformers."
like said before . . its highly unlikely Rare will meet this quota of 5games in 2years for a system they have never worked on before

3)
Perfect Dark seems to have been in development for a long time
but it was ALSO said that dev was going very slowly -- so what you just said really means nothing

4) My outlook: Kameo looks promising, Conker could kick ass, PD new visual style looks very weird:( . . i like the realistic joanna

5) AND like Bowser said, this is not a RAre topic :p

so . . .

yes i DO think that story mode would be a cool addition to Mario Kart . . I am so looking forward to this game -- and the new karts are really growing on me

Hylian-Advocate

Maybe if they had a story mode, you could gain more special items for all the modes as you win more tournaments. I don't know......any other story mode ideas?

Glenn2K4
04-29-2003, 06:28 AM
hmm, story mode which unlocks TOAD! . . yahoo!
i dont know . . im just really looking forward to more tourney cups, battle mode (yay!), and maybe a cool story mode -- this game will own E3

^ You have captured my thoughts perfectly. Mario Kart DD = E3 ownage!!!!!

Glenn2K4
04-29-2003, 06:40 AM
i think it is great how Mario Kart: DD is already the biggest title of E3 even BEFORE e3 even begins -- sure everyone will try to snatch the crown, but at the end of the say everyone will be thinking . ."wow, did you see mario kart!!"

great stuff indeed :p

How does it mean nothing? 'close sources' said "it will allegedly not be ready in time for a 2002 release." Holiday 2003 is after 2002.

1) i should have been more specific . . opps ;)

2) we already went through this prince . . like 2 months ago -- so we both said "we'll see at E3" . . yet im still skeptical until then, of course

3) yes, close sources did say that it wont be ready in time for 2002 release but it was also confirmed that dev was going slow period regardless of expected release dates.

4) . . oh, don't wanna touch the topic of cell-shaded joanna do you prince :baby: you bash WW before b/c it was shaded, but now you have nothing to say about joanna??

5) becuase i couldn't let the topic drop unresolved like that --and-

6) if you think that mario kart won't own E3 this year . . you are laughing by yourself . . like this -----> :evillaugh

. . and THAT is the end of the show folks ;)

why do you think i skipped it. Because you could hate the new look, i don't care. If i hated celshading then i wouldn't of fell in love with Jet Grind Radio on DC :p

I'll be laughing with the people that know the biggest game of the show at e3 will be either half life 2, doom 3, halo 2, or gran turismo 4. Mario kart being the biggest e3 title is hillarious :evillaugh

Did we forget what Bowser said..... This is a Mario Kart thread, not a thread to argue about Rare and other random topics. If you all feel so strongly about these discusions then maybe someone should make another thread.....just a sugestion.

Hylian-Advocate
04-29-2003, 06:06 PM

Viper

I don't know about it (Mario Kart) being the biggest title at E3, but certainly one that will garner lots of attention. The Co-op has my attention since my wife loves MK64.

Prince, why must you downplay everything for GC. You're starting to irritate people. Why don't you go to an X-box site so you can relish in rares new gloriousness with other box boys.

Nintendos suprise Mario game. Mario 128.

Hylian-Advocate
04-29-2003, 06:19 PM
Really? I think that Mario Kart will still be bigger because we've already had one mario game, and have been waiting for Mario Kart fo such a ling time.

Viper
04-29-2003, 06:25 PM
True, but Mario 128 is said to be a breakthrough title. Hey, either way both will be good and as always, Nintendo OWNS E3. Always has, always will.

The seat has hydraulics that fluidly move the seat as the action takes place. Turn hard right and the whole cabinet tilts to the right.
