The cover story for the newest print issue of Game Informer magazine has some details about the upcoming Xbox version of Counter-Strike that is being developed by Ritual Entertainment and Valve Software. According to the article, the Xbox version of the popular PC multiplayer shooter will contain all the current content of the PC version plus all of the content of the upcoming Counter-Strike: Condition Zero single player game. There will be some Xbox exclusive content as well, including at least five new multiplayer levels, two new weapons (the Syringe and Machete) and some graphical improvements including 24 bit textures and better lighting and particle effects. There are also hints in the article that there might be support for user created gameplay modes in the Xbox Counter-Strike, although there were no specifics mentioned.

counter strike is old....
it seriously needs a sequel with new and improved graphics....
they also need to get rid of all the fucking cheaters online...

Uh.............. the XBox is getting Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, smart guys. It isn't a port of the game you all are playing right now. And a game nobody cares about? Try to most played online FPS.

..... they better include TFC.

condition zero might be new, but its running on the same old counter strike engine. i've seen video clips of it running and quite frankly, it doesn't look that impressive...esp the way character models run etc....THAT is what needs to be updated

and as for never coming across a cheater??? are you serious? the online servers are crowded with ppl using wall hacks, aimbots, spiked models...and that was when i was playing...who knows what they're all using now...

Most played online = Big Whoop. More people play Diablo II... but I guess that's besides the point.

Besides, PC to console always lacks... remember that.

I'm excited about it, I guess, but seriously that game is going to be a bit tough with the xbox controller. I mean, maybe I just suck with it, but I can't aim for shit with that thing compared to the ol' mouse and keyboard.

My wish/prayer is that they allow the xbox peeps to play the pc people. Nothing finer than some console playing counter strike newbies to kill allll day.

Well the mouse is more precise, so I guess that adds some challenge to the game, eh? And XBox Live is a closed network, so no PC, sorry :(

I personally am a Pc fanboy so i can tell that it's not how good graphics are it about the fun-factor and playability. I have some of the most prettyist games you can have yet i still go back to a game which is 6yrs old but contains all the fun-factor and playabilty in the world. If you think graphics matter more than gameplay then you surely are a n00b!

totally.
I've only played a few days worth, and only on one or two servers.

either I don't know what to look for, or there weren't any cheaters.

Meh, there are plenty of servers with anti-cheat technology.

^pfffttt u don't know me so don't be so quick to judge
i've been a PC boy since i was about 6 yrs old
i accept that graphics don't make the game. did i say it did? i'm just saying some graphical improvements wouldn't hurt....

i didn't stop playing it because of the graphics, i stopped because of the online cheaters...i still play it at LAN...

and if u think those anti-cheat shit really works, u'd better think twice....

Honestly, I never really got into the PC version (maybe its because my PC sucks).

^Sorry to hear about your 'puter Kliq. Have you taken a baseball bat to it yet? Your game may not run any better, probably not at all, but PC baseball is lots of fun.
But then you couldn't get online and that's no good.....forget playing PC baseball until you get a new PC to replace the old one

Even crappy computers can play Counter-Strike........... it uses the Half-Life engine, which is just an upgraded Quake II engine.

Here is some information out of GameInformer:

"Tools for standard PCs will be available to the public to create and design mods and maps. Once you complete a project, you submit it to Valve, who will ensure its legitimacy (meaning it isn't a cheat) and quality. If your creation passes the test, Valve will post it as an available download for any XBox user."

[in an interview]
Q: What do you think that the PC version's biggest flaws are, and did you address these for XBox?

A: I think that from a gameplay perspective, the PC is pretty solid. One of the hardest problems on the PC was our software limitation. We actually couldn't push as much visual fidelity as we would have liked on the PC. The XBox version is going to be a lot better because we can guarantee our target. That helps.

"The XBox version, in particular, will receive 24-bit texture quality, significantly better lighting and particle effects, and flashier color schemes."

"If the XBox version can garner enough support, this will mark the beginning of a new era."
