Capcom has just revealed the Resident Evil 4 release date. Retailers were estimating that the game would ship in either Febuary or March of 2005, and now it has been confirmed that RE4 will be in stores on January 11th, 2005!

RE 4 and MP2 didnt stand a chance against the other console line ups anyway. I am kinda glad it got delayed, because now I can focus more on the DS.

very bad timing, the game won't sell as well, because january is an off season, people would have already spent their money in christmas, they wouldn't have finished their games yet, and they won't be bothered to buy another new game. So you can expect game sales to be kind of slow.

I've been expecting this delay for months, now, but the game really needed to be here for the holiday season. Whatever the reason is for the delay must be something worth addressing, so I would rather that the game ship a bit late but come out great than ship a couple months earlier and suffer from some critical flaw. I would say that I can't wait that long for the game, but I'll have other games coming along this fall to keep me busy. I can wait.

^ that's true, but i'm worried that the game won't sell as well as it would have if it was released before christmas.

^ You have to remember though that most people buy everything for Christmas in November, early December, and usualyl have money again by Christmas, and then they very often get money from Christmas and gift cards and what not, so it could turn out ok, but I know parents won't buy kids a game directly after Christmas, but most who want this game have thier own form of income.

Just wondering, anyone know of a big AAA hyped title like RE4 being erleased in January and have the sales numbers?

Yeah, someone get the sales numbers for FF:CC from February last year (this year?). Not quite January, but same difference.

^Good point. It would be nice to see the sales figures of FF:CC and compare a bit.
