SAN FRANCISCO – August 16, 2010 – Today Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon for the Wii™ system from Nintendo and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Predator for the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system. The games will deliver a true Ghost Recon experience, featuring sophisticated technology, weaponry, graphics, and challenging gameplay – all the core values the franchise is known for. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon (Wii) and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Predator (PSP system) are scheduled to ship in November 2010 in North America.
About Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Predator (PSP system)
Deep in the jungles of Sri Lanka, the Ghosts have 72 hours to prepare the way for a U.S. invasion force. As open conflict with Pakistan looms, the Ghosts uncover proof that they’ve been targeting the wrong enemy. Now they must act before falsified intelligence lures America into an unpredictable and devastating war. Game features include:
• An exclusive tactical experience: Decide what tactics are best – use your massive firepower to eliminate powerful enemies or use the jungle to sneak behind enemies and strike using the element of surprise.
• Electronic warfare: Use high-tech equipment to hunt, such as drones, air support and prototype weapons. Gaining experience for your squad allows customization of your Ghosts, making them more powerful.
• Multiplayer co-op: Create a rifle team with two other friends (up to three players ad-hoc). Use flanking tactics with your teammate to outsmart the opposition.
About Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon (Wii)
After being inserted in Moscow and separated from the rest of their team, Ghost soldiers Hibbard and Booth must operate as a two-man team, relying on the intel of the local militia to fight their way to their target in a city infested with enemies. With the numbers clearly not in their favor, they will have to use their advanced weaponry and training to make sure the odds are. Game features include:
• A true Ghost Recon experience: Progress through 12 missions of high intensity combat, tactical infiltration and WOW moments, from the villages of Norway to the streets of Moscow. No matter your skill level, Ghost Recon on Wii is designed to specifically accommodate a wide range of players, from casual players to hardcore gamers.
• Built from the ground co-op experience: Two players in third-person on one screen make the experience more natural, more intuitive and more social than ever. Co-Op Hot Join: Friends can hop in and out of co-op at-will, with the AI taking over as needed.
• Arcade Mode: Play in cooperative mode and compare your score online on the world leader boards.

Are they certain those images are from the Wii iteration? Because the texturing and lighting look like PSP.

Unfortunately so, those images came from a preview G4 wrote about the Wii version. That's where I grabbed those images from. I wanted to put images of the game too. Other sites are reporting those are the Wii images as well. Maybe, just maybe, there's a mistake somewhere with the images, but when a site like G4 and Gamespot are posting the images as the Wii version it's kind of hard to doubt.

I'm disappointed with this announcement. I was sure the Wii was going to get the same Ghost Recon as the other home consoles. I guess this is our "Ghost Recon: Future Soldier." They told us we were going to get Future Soldier, but apparently not. This is an entirely different game built alongside a handheld version. Umm, no thank you. And on top of that, it's a rail shooter. The only thing you can control is the movement of your character from cover-to-cover.
There's also video to prove this is the Wii version. What a piece of crap this game is. Good job, Ubisoft. You've managed to make me dislike you more.

Im surprised you would want a dumbed down port Crazybone126? This one looks like it was built from the ground up for Wii with co-op. Even the PSP version looks pretty interesting with the camera pulled in to make the face buttons easier to move the camera. Personally im more a Rainbow 6 man but i might pick these up. Only negatives i see are the graphics for the Wii version and lack of wifi for the PSP with only ad hoc support for co-op. Also the games not on rails. Linear maybe but not on rails.

Dumbed down ports have been proven to work. Look how successful the Call of Duty series is on the Wii. Call of Duty proved just because it's a port doesn't mean it's a different experience. Crysis 2 for the PS3/360 is a dumbed down port of the PC version, but it's the same game. Ubisoft has done the complete opposite and built a game from the ground up (with bad texturing and lighting, even in Wii's standards) and made a completely different game. Why didn't they do the same thing as they did with the recent Prince of Persia game? They built the Wii version from the ground up, but kept the same experience found on the other consoles. I wouldn't mind if they ported the game simply because other companies have proved that a little engine optimization goes a long way. Treyarch has proved that with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition.
What's even more upsetting is that the PSP version isn't even a rail shooter. It's an actual third person shooter. What the Wii version should have been. People have actually wanted an online third person shooter for the Wii for quite some time now, and thanks to Ubisoft, it isn't coming. This is proving that third party Wii developers don't try hard enough. In true honesty, the only 3rd party Wii developers who have attempted to make the best hardcore Wii experience that you could find on the other consoles is Treyarch and High Voltage Software. As Viper can tell you, Conduit 2 is going to blow Wii owners away, and I can tell you that Call of Duty: Black Ops will blow Wii owners away. Simply because both games are using the power of the Wii. High Voltage has already proved they have a great engine on the Wii and Conduit 2 is really using the Wii's power, and Treyarch has proved that the Wii can have the same online/offline experience as the other consoles and this time around for Black Ops, they are retooling the entire engine for the Wii. What Ubisoft is doing? Absolutely nothing. I think pretty much all Wii owners dislike Ubisoft and their efforts besides Red Steel 2.
I watched the video a second time now and the Wii version is not on rails and it is third person. The PSP version is just pulled closer because the camera is more difficult to control with face buttons than with a second analogue or the Wii pointer. Anyways just wait and see more gameplay before you right it off completely.

It's a light gun game, G4 even hinted at it. The only thing you have control of is where you take cover. You can't move freely in the environment. You're on a guided mission and can't explore. It's like a point and click game to me. Basically, the total opposite of what the Ghost Recon series is all about. I find no reason to wait for more gameplay. It's already proven not to be the Ghost Recon experience I've always wanted.

Another article that proves this is a rail shooter http://www.destructoid.com/impressions-intense-co-op-action-with-ghost-recon-181548.phtml
We'll call it an "advanced rail shooter." They just added cover elements.

1. The Tom Clancy engine was ported to Wii a long time ago. Why the hell are they not using for a Tom Clancy Wii title?
2. We were told the Wii was getting Future Soldier. Way to go Ubisoft, way to go.
3. This is certainly on rails and I had hoped by now that devs/pubs understood we are sick of them and their lazy as fuck development process.
4. Where are the textures? Look at some of those scenes. It's damn near flat shaded textures and sparse lighting. And the polygon count is higher on many N64 games.
5. "Built from the ground up" of an existing brand or title is publisher speak for we took the easy way out, gave it the 3rd string treatment and hope to cash in on the brand license to ignorant smucks stupid enough to buy our game.
Wii gamers want the whole sandwich, not a frikkin bread crumb. This is insulting, to be point blank honest about it.

yeah it's quite obvious that the Wii version is a light gun game. i keep thinking 'it looks like someone playing time crisis except you can see the character hiding". it was looking decent up until they showed the gameplay. of course visually it's meh but it was giving a nice 'full of action' vibe.
but Wii has plenty of light gun shooters and the only one i intend on buying from now on is RE: Darkside Chronicles. I'm all light gunned out or down. it would have been good as an extra mode like what EA did with MoH Heroes 2. I can't see that being the case here. who in their right mind would show the extra mode in the gameplay reveal?
I have to agree with Crazy. outside of picking up No More Heroes and a valiant attempt with Avatar, Ubisoft have been very disappointing with Wii.

Yup, my above post basically said the same thing as you. I guess Ubisoft are using the Tom Clancy engine for H.A.W.X.
I feel insulted. They promised me Future Soldier but instead I get a piece of crap half-assed game that should be cancelled. Whatever this game sells we all know the proceeds are going to PS3/PC/360 development. That's what Ubisoft does and has even admitted to.
