I own SA2 for DC. I beat the game, thats why I'm not getting Battle. To make an egg hatch you must shake it. I don't know how for the SA (adv.) version. You will also have the ability to feed it. (by shaking trees) You must let the chao have a good amount of rest, and you should play with it. (pet it) In Battle, you will be able to let the chao go to school, and it will learn to do many things. (ex. singing, playing trumpet, play with a ball, etc.) To make it have other abilities, such as flying, swinimg, climbing, etc., you must find little animals in the levels or at the end. You must collect them, them let the chao hug them. There are many animals and from whatever animal it is comes their abilities. (ex. Owl, hedgehog) The owl will let it have the ability to fly, whereas hedgehog would equal speed. It works like that for SA2 Battle. Also in battle, when you are breeding the chao, if you only feed it food, and animals with sonic, after a very long time, it will have the spikey hair like sonic, and speed. You can also have a Shadow.
By the way, is Sonic Advance good, cause I don't know if I should get it. I'm looking for a good GBA game. Thanks!

To use the egg, you have to have Sonic for GCN, and a connecter for the GBA and GCN.

Doh, so is there any point of rasing a GBA Chao, besides linking it to Gamecube.

If you don't have the game cube ther's no point in raising a chao in the gba
