Since IGN is my number one source for gaming (except forums, I don't like theirs much) I put a lot fo faith into them, and I enjoy reading all of their opinions as much as their content. Which brings to the major dissappointment of their newly hired (or whatever) PSP editors. I've been reading everything they have came out with and it all seemed reasonably unprofessional, but this latest mailbag is a joke, and it's not funny and VERY unprofessional.

Please visit the link here. (http://psp.ign.com/mail.html) I can understand the fanboys and plain retards who side 100% with one handheld because of the company name, but for the actual questions, it's just not acceptable. IGN needs to get some new guys or re-train them or something.

How exactly are we supposed to read the responses to the mail? Or is that stupid diarrhea crap (no pun intended) supposed to be the response?

I don't know what these responses are responding too. This is confusing and stupid.

That probably isn't giving the PSP public much hope for the system or IGN's coverage. That long one was a very intelligently written and thought out piece and it was resorted to garbage by such a immature response. Nintendo = Kiddy....not as long as IGN PSP mailbag crew maintains the title.

wow... what morons. I plan on sending complaint letters to IGN. IGN needs no fanboys as staff, as well as no stupid morons who constantly try to be funny.

Or they want to match the people who will actually buy a PSP with the editors, same type of people. Sorry but I just can't see any good reason to buy a PSP, graphics aside, it sucks.

Keep thinking that guys...but you'll all be surprised by the results of the PSP when it comes out next year.

Ha ha. Lets bash a bunch of fanboy editors by being fanboys ourselves. OMG!!11! Teh PoopSP SuXXors like teh HeXbox SuXXXors more.

YOu people crack me up. Yes, those answers are lame and ignorant and show just how bad a hiring of people can go, but when you retaliate with your own fanboy arguements, like "At least the editors match the PSP quality, etc" then it doesnt make you look much better.

Someone needs to write in to the staff and complain, as Im sure many have already, but you stoop just as low when you bash write back.

What was that...I must admit, Ign hires fanboys for each system because they know alot more stuff going one, but come one...that was very childish, many people had real question that are not even answered...that was dumb...

I was looking through their archive (three mailbags so far) and I found this quote:

"IGN writes from the heart and from the brain - not from the fact sheet."

It's funny, if you don't take it the way they meant it to. :D

No, the PSP IS CRAP, I'm sorry there is NO way around it, if Nintendo was coming out with it, I'd be ashamed of being such a Nintendo fan, let's look at the facts.

1. It's pretty

2. Nice widescreen screen

3. Amazing graphics, un-matched by any other handheld

4. PS games, no ports according to Sony, although there main game is a " not at all inferior to its PS2 counterpart." Gran Turismo 4 game

5. LAN abilities, both close PSPs and online, although all parties require the game to play

6. UMD disc can hold 1.8GBs of space, and look purty.

7. 2-4 hours of battery life for gaming, about 8 for music, and 2 for movies.

8. Plays movies and music on UMD, so you have to re-buy a CD or movie on UMD format to watch it on only the PSP, which with a movie you can't even finish most movies on in one sitting without having to plug it in.

9. $250-$500

10. Requires Sony Memory Card to save (128MBs about $50)

11. Plays MP3s, hmm, well you cannot burn to UMD, so you have to use a memory stick, let's compare. One stick cost 50 and you can hold about 32 songs on it. A walkman that plays MP3 (and regular CDs, and a radio) costs about $30, and one CD that costs about $1 individually can hold about 180 songs, and be played in computers, CD players, DVD players, etc. For the price of one memory stick you can buy 100 CDs (50 pack spindles cost $20/$25), which is 18,000 songs, on a more versatile format. Cost? You save about $220-$470 which could then be used to by the unique DS or GBA I suppose plus 2-6 games in addition, hmm.

12. A/V out, that's nice, wait, kinda reminds me of that other, cheaper, system with all those games that plugs into my TV.

13. No-flip design means constant open for the ever-beautiful screen, not good.

So there are some good things to be seen in PSP, power, purtyness, and console games on the go (for two hours), but everything else reeks of crap, especially considering the PS2 has superior graphics, all those features, only better since it plays DVD and CD format, and all the games (not the exact same (port), but same gameplay and idea, although MGS is always a good), plus for more than 1/2 the price, oh my.

And that's not even Metal Gear Solid. It's Metal Gear Acid. Metal Gear THE CARD GAME! You have to have a "Snap Neck" card to snap necks

^ Oh yeah, how exactly does that work anyway. I don't see the point, for the DS or GBA you might have to do that, but the PSP can support an actual MGS game, what the hell are they doing that for, very sad.

I just sent them an email.

I'm a Managing Editor for a Nintendo based fan site and I have to ask, what is going on with the PSP channels mailbag editors? I was under the impression Sony gamers were the supposed to be the 'mature' gamers. Now being from a website centered on one brand of console manufaturer, I'm expected to be biased and thoroughly enjoy the lack of intelligence in the Mailbag responses (though they are quite knowledgable in the the viscosity of bowel movements)and admittedly I did, however as an unpaid journalist I was appalled at what a paid journalist determines as a worthy retort to genuinely curious questions. I'm sending this to the Gameboy channel instead of the PSP because I'd probably get a reply full of #@*&.
